America's least favorite billionaire wingnut corporate death monsters, the Koch Brothers, held a super-secret sexy behind-closed-doors desert pool party weekend with all their favorite conservative commentators in the gay resort town of Rancho Mirage. People showed up to protest, though, and 25 protesters were arrested!
About 1,000 chanting protesters rallied on Sunday outside a California resort where conservative lawmakers and business executives met for a political strategy session hosted by billionaires Charles and David Koch. About two dozen police officers in riot gear lined up in front of the Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa in the upscale desert town of Rancho Mirage to keep the protesters away from the gated entrance.
At one point, a group of demonstrators blocked the street in front of the resort for nearly an hour before Riverside County sheriff's deputies moved in and handcuffed about 25 activists who were led away and cited for trespassing.
That'll learn 'em! FireDogLake reports:
The entire group of protesters moved to the setup across the street from the resort. Police helicopters buzzed overhead. After a while, the police agreed to shut down Bob Hope Drive, and the protesters streamed across the street and directly in front of the resort, just a few inches away from the phalanx of riot cops. The usual protest chanting and raising of banners ensued. More cops were brought in, traipsing over the flower beds. And 25 protesters were taken away in a paddy wagon. The protests were generally peaceful, and the police professional.
Everyone performed their parts in a professional way, hooray! Now we'll turn the Egypt protests back on the live feed from Al Jazeera. [ Desert Sun ]
Yeah Ken...don't hold back!
Paddy wagon? Seriously? You'd think this took place in 1920s Boston and not Palm fucking Springs.
Paddy wagon my ass.
