Teabaggers Flooding Into Arizona To Recall Sheriff Who Called For Civility

by Jack Stuef

Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik called Arizona “a mecca for prejudice and bigotry.” Sounds like a good place for a pilgrimage!

An activist from Utah, Dan Baltes, arrived in Tucson on Thursday to start a recall campaign against the sheriff. “It is not antithetical to harmony,” he said, making a local gunshop his first stop to drop off recall petitions.

Sure, local Teabaggers were already working on this recall drive. But they needed backup. When a local politician says something about guns and hating Mexicans, it’s no longer a local issue. It threatens people with guns who hate Mexicans everywhere. This is the new front. [NYT]

The Messicans are probably looking to build a fence of their own to keep the Arizona loonies out.

horsedreamer_1 January 28, 2011 at 11:30 am

Agitators! ACORN!*

*Armed Crazy Ornery Republican Nimrods.

ifthethunderdontgetya January 28, 2011 at 11:30 am

Nothing says "Motherfucking Civility, Bitches!" like the arrival of a swarm of armed Mormons.

The Mountain Meadows Brigade.

glamourdammerung January 28, 2011 at 2:39 pm

Only if they remember to paint themselves up like they are trying to pass as Native Americans before they start shooting.

CrunchyKnee January 28, 2011 at 11:31 am

"An activist from Utah, Dan Baltes, arrived in Tucson on Thursday to start a recall campaign against the sheriff."

Utardia has activists? Let the crazy continue.

glamourdammerung January 28, 2011 at 2:44 pm

Yes, but most of their activists are focused on the issue of plural marriages/child rape.

x111e7thst January 28, 2011 at 11:33 am

If a TeaTard actually said the words " antithetical to harmony,” it was a totally random event, like a million monkeys banging on typewriter keys for a million years and producing "Atlas Shrugged".

DonnyKerabotsos January 28, 2011 at 1:00 pm

I must be out of step with my fellow wonkers, but I assumed you were talking about Pam Geller's awful site…

deanbooth January 28, 2011 at 1:32 pm

We live in the blurst of times.

user-of-owls January 28, 2011 at 11:39 am

“It is not antithetical to harmony”

Which is to say that it is thetical to harmony?? Or that it is antithetical to cacophony??

There is a reason that Palin's rhetoric appeals to people like this.

widestanceroman January 28, 2011 at 11:44 am

I retheticate your thtatement.

HolyMaracas January 28, 2011 at 11:56 am

Now it's just a matter of time before we see a "Obama is an Antithetical Socialist Marxist Communist Dictator!" bumper sticker (or rally sign)

angryclownspawn January 28, 2011 at 12:13 pm

Holy shit, which one of them is going to try to spell that on a sign? I can't wait to see THAT.

HolyMaracas January 28, 2011 at 12:19 pm

"Brack Hosain Obamur is Antithecul Socielits Murkist Comie Dictetur!!!"

There, fixed and ready for a troll to copy-paste it.

HistoriCat January 28, 2011 at 12:31 pm

Thetical? I thought that was the Scientologists, not the Mormons.

ChessieNefercat January 28, 2011 at 12:44 pm

I think that would "thetanical", not thetical, for the Scientologists.

Barrelhse January 28, 2011 at 4:36 pm

"I'd like to teach the world to sing"?

CZL January 28, 2011 at 11:41 am

A hajj of hate if you will.

Sophist [APPLESAUCE] January 28, 2011 at 12:19 pm

Making a pilgrimage to wave misspelled signs and shout at browns is one of the five pillars of Teaslam.

horsedreamer_1 January 28, 2011 at 12:51 pm

Certainly, charity is not one of the other four.

Sophist [APPLESAUCE] January 28, 2011 at 12:54 pm

Sure it is. How else can the Palin family afford to pay for hookers and foreclosed stucco monstrosities?

Chet Kincaid January 28, 2011 at 1:36 pm

"Grift" is known as "Charity By Surprise" in Sweden.

CZL January 28, 2011 at 2:48 pm

Sure it is. It's just called falling for a gold-selling scam.

metamarcisf January 28, 2011 at 11:41 am

An early poll shows significant teabag support for these possible replacements:

Former Pima County Deputy Sheriff Wyatt Earp
General Butt Naked
Randall "Tex" Cobb

And can you guess who else is interested?

ifthethunderdontgetya January 28, 2011 at 12:07 pm

Major Woody?

GOPCrusher January 28, 2011 at 12:37 pm

Shaquille O'Neal?

horsedreamer_1 January 28, 2011 at 12:52 pm

He would be the only Sheriff with the balls to ask, "Jared Loughner, care to inform me how my ass tastes?"

SorosBot January 28, 2011 at 1:30 pm

Bristol Palin?

ManchuCandidate January 28, 2011 at 11:42 am

Get a job, Utard asshole.

freakishlywrong January 28, 2011 at 11:46 am

So a popular, "far left" sheriff manages to utter some truth and conservatives nationwide rally around Billo's insane movement to recall him because the truth, see, to wingtards, is " antithetical to harmony,” We'll all just descend on Arizona and intimidate anyone else that doesn't' agree with us. See: Gabby Giffords.

GOPCrusher January 28, 2011 at 12:35 pm

The irony is lost on these people.
A sheriff makes a statement that "Arizona is a mecca for prejudice and bigotry", so a group of people that are already under a PR nightmare of being bigots are going to go and protest this sheriff.
The stupid. It burns, oh how it burns.

AZ_Transplant January 28, 2011 at 11:47 am

Clearly he was deeply offended that the sheriff besmirched the name of his beloved home, Arizona, er… I mean, Utah. Wait, why the f*ck does he care again?

If you're going to recall an AZ sheriff, recall Arpaio. Don't recall Dupnik, who I hear actually does his job.

x111e7thst January 28, 2011 at 11:53 am

Actually it only took the monkeys a week.

Sophist [APPLESAUCE] January 28, 2011 at 12:16 pm

And there were only seven of them.

DashboardBuddha January 28, 2011 at 12:22 pm

and they were high. All they could think of was how funny a spoof it would be.

Sophist [APPLESAUCE] January 28, 2011 at 12:25 pm

And that still doesn't explain the sex scenes…

ifthethunderdontgetya January 28, 2011 at 12:31 pm

The monkeys were listening to Beck and Limbaugh on h8 radio.

Callyson January 28, 2011 at 12:57 pm

Done. Also, "The Fountainhead" is one of the funniest movies ever.

PsycWench January 28, 2011 at 11:55 am

Why won't anyone from another state come here to Virginia and start a recall campaign against our Attorney General, that's what I want to know. Do we have to do everything ourselves?

sweetcommunist January 28, 2011 at 1:33 pm

You've got this Virginian's support.

SorosBot January 28, 2011 at 11:56 am

Well hey, while Arizona's love of guns may have killed some people it's hatred of Mexicans hasn't killed anybody yet.

Oh, wait…
http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la...

For some reason, most of the mainstream media has been ignoring this case. Terrorism: it doesn't count if it's done by white right-wingers.

glamourdammerung January 28, 2011 at 12:16 pm

Same sheriff (Dupnik) involved in this one too.

MissTaken January 28, 2011 at 12:51 pm

Cases like this make me think that Rev Wright was correct when he said "God damn America!".

Good god these people are vile.

glamourdammerung January 28, 2011 at 2:41 pm

I always thought Wright's comments were about what conservatives refer to as "American Exceptionalism".

GOPCrusher January 28, 2011 at 3:31 pm

"Forde's trial was almost delayed by the Giffords shooting. Her attorneys questioned whether an accused murderer allegedly driven by right-wing passions could get a fair trial here."

It is only a matter of time before a direct link between Sarah Palin, or any of the other Tea Bagger/Hate Mongerers, and these acts of domestic terrorism is proven.

glamourdammerung January 28, 2011 at 7:19 pm

It is only a matter of time before a direct link between Sarah Palin, or any of the other Tea Bagger/Hate Mongerers, and these acts of domestic terrorism is proven.

It has already occurred a couple of times with Becktards.

JustPixelz January 28, 2011 at 12:01 pm

They could send that shaggy-haired, sharia-lovin' sheriff to Gitmo, but — hey — he's in Arizona now so that would be like a reward.

angryclownspawn January 28, 2011 at 12:16 pm

I just love how he says his efforts are “not antithetical to harmony,” on his way into the gun shop. Apparently he is antithetical to irony.

Native_of_SL_UT January 28, 2011 at 12:18 pm

Ha! Utah crazy will not be contained! We rule!

hagajim January 28, 2011 at 12:20 pm

Hell, I just thought she was busy polishing her new beau's mushroom.

horsedreamer_1 January 28, 2011 at 12:53 pm

That will keep her from getting pregnant, at least.

trampndirtdown January 29, 2011 at 6:23 pm

Surely Mama Grift has her on the nuvaring already.

hagajim January 28, 2011 at 12:21 pm

UNITE UNITE UNITE – calling all batshit crazy assclowns! Come to Arizona for fun, unity and recalls.

DashboardBuddha January 28, 2011 at 12:24 pm

Good lord, these people are cry babies.

aguacatero January 28, 2011 at 12:25 pm

I've seen Big Love: Pima County houses key supply lines between Utah and the northern Mexican polygamous compounds.

SorosBot January 28, 2011 at 12:28 pm

If you really want to be angry, read some of the comments – just like with Loughner, there's a bunch of wingnuts saying things "she wasn't really with the minutemen because they denounced her after she was arrested" and "the minutemen are a peaceful group (as peaceful as the KKK) why is the LA Times slandering them in favor of illegals".

Maybe the name-changing troll who claimed that Louchner was a liberal because he smoked pot (and actually tried to claim the Nazis were liberal) will pipe in to repeat some of that crap.

SorosBot January 28, 2011 at 12:33 pm

natoslug January 28, 2011 at 12:37 pm

The girl is brown, and therefore unworthy of life. At least, that's what I got from the comments on the article. My take is that there is absolutely no way to reason with Tea Party or MinuteMan members, as they are incapable of human decency.

SheriffRoscoe January 28, 2011 at 12:37 pm

It's too bad the good sheriff isn't a teabagger himself, or else he could complain to anyone and everyone willing to listen about how his freedom of speech is being threatened.

CrankyLttlCamperette January 28, 2011 at 12:42 pm

Because she wasn't white. And for the sake of your sanity, I beg you, do NOT go read the comments on that article. I made that mistake and am having a hard time keeping my lunch down…

BaldarTFlagass January 28, 2011 at 12:53 pm

Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik called Arizona “a mecca for prejudice and bigotry.”

File under "Self-Fulfilling Prophecy"?

XOhioan January 28, 2011 at 12:58 pm

They are just coordinating some harmonious blood atonement for the sheriff. Google "Mountain Meadows" for more details.

Callyson January 28, 2011 at 1:01 pm

The sad thing is, Pima County (Tucson) is the oasis of the otherwise wingnut – controlled Arizona.
I say it's time to send in the rescue helicopters and airlift what's left of civilization out of that state. And send in the equipment to extract the Grand Canyon and Sedona too.

Gopherit January 28, 2011 at 1:44 pm

Sorry carpetteabaggers, but Dupnik is extremely popular in Tucson. It's a waste of time and money to try to have him face a recall, but it's always fun to watch you get fluffy. Knock yourselves out. Really.

Bonzos_Bed_Time January 28, 2011 at 2:08 pm

Plus they'll spend some of that Mormon-money. It's a win-win for everyone!

glamourdammerung January 28, 2011 at 2:33 pm

So the teabaggers are trying to remove the sheriff for not being politically correct.

Too bad they are too stupid to realize how funny that is.

LionelHutzEsq January 28, 2011 at 2:40 pm

What we need is someone to dress up like a pimp and infiltrate them. That would surely get FOX News to spend hours upon hours showing just how terrible they are.

glamourdammerung January 28, 2011 at 2:42 pm

In before the teatards claim the nine year old brown girl was a "democrat plant" who was shot by teabaggers just to make the teabaggers look bad.

SenileAgitation January 28, 2011 at 2:57 pm

Outside agitators! It's the civil rights movement all over again. Except these Freedom Riders are here for neglected whitey, who for too long has toiled in the shadows under the tyranny of job-stealing drug dealing Mexicans using our health care and not paying taxes.

Redhead January 28, 2011 at 3:17 pm

And there is NOWHERE in the constitution that says a guy from Utah can't vote in an election for a sheriff in Arizona, exactly, word-for-word, so he can totally do it guys!

GOPCrusher January 28, 2011 at 3:35 pm

Has anyone actually seen this sheriff's notarized, long-form, live, birth certificate?

PublicLuxury January 28, 2011 at 3:23 pm
