Struggling Rudy Giuliani May Run For President To Keep 9/11 Relevant

by Jack Stuef

Hard to get attention when you've already shown the tabloids this.A man who famously lived in New York City when 9/11 happened and then made a living off the fact that he got to touch the 9/11 death heap, Rudy Giuliani, is said to be considering running for president, just like everyone else. This is of course a bad idea if he actually wants to win, because as 2008 showed, it is impossible for him, despite all the 9/11 trivia nights he won at Iowa bars. But he doesn’t actually want to win; he just needs to be talked about again, because the fact that nobody pays attention to him is hurting business. “Nobody is paying $100,000 to hear the same warmed-over 9/11 speech. His speaking fees have dropped as well as his consulting fees,” somebody told the New York Post. As good a reason as any to run for the job.

“He has previously said he would not run again, but he wants us to think he will,” a different source said. “He’s not being talked about among the Republican contenders, and his ego can’t take that.”

Others say that Giuliani is positioning himself as a Republican nominee hopeful to leverage a cabinet position, or even a nomination for vice president because his previously lucrative business has slowed.

This is all wrong. What Giuliani needs is another 9/11. He needs one badly. The problem is predicting where it will happen, so that he can on the scene and walk around the pile of dead office workers and firefighters and such. Somebody tell him the next time they’re doing a 9/11. He’ll get on the first flight over there! [NYP]

Needs moar sackofshitcloth and asbestos-laiden ash.

JustPixelz January 7, 2011 at 1:08 pm

Obama has already kept us safe longer the Bush. Bush failed the nation and his oath of office on 9/11, after only a few months into his presidency. Our fellow Americans were falling from the sky while he read "My Pet Goat" then hid in undisclosed locations — perhaps to read that "bin Laden Determined to Strike in the U.S." advisory. Come on Rudy, let's hear it for Obama!

SmutBoffin January 7, 2011 at 1:09 pm

You know who should they should run for President? That guy who was mayor of NYC during the arrival of Gozer the Destructor.

"Everything was fine, until dickless here shut off the grid."
"Is this true?"
"Yes, this man has no dick."

bitchincamaro2 January 7, 2011 at 1:19 pm

Please run again you lisping bag of drool. And remember to take Florida for granted again this time 'round.

GOPCrusher January 7, 2011 at 1:49 pm

Rudy took the entire process for granted. Running with "9/11" as your campaign slogan didn't work out so well.

MaxUdargo January 7, 2011 at 2:31 pm

It works fine if all you're interested in is some free publicity. People like Giuliani and Palin don't actually want to be president (goodness, think of all the hard work that job must involve!), they just want to exploit the presidential election process to promote their brand.

It's come to this: the chief significance of an American presidential election is that it provides an opportunity for cynical self-promoters to gain free access to the national media to enhance their celebrity.

Or at least I know the chief significance of an American presidential election is not to change the direction of the country. Obama cleared that up for me forever.

Negropolis January 7, 2011 at 10:09 pm

Some people want attention, and some people want power. And, you're right; no one really wants to lead or change anything. Well, some do, but these earnestly serious and smart candidates are crushed underneath millions of pallets of hundred dollar bills so they never make it out of the primary, and don't even make it close to getting out of the primaries.

bitchincamaro2 January 7, 2011 at 3:58 pm

Actually, I think I'm confusing Rudy's farting towards Florida's general direction with that of the other drooling nut sack, Walnuts. But no harm done.

LionelHutzEsq January 7, 2011 at 1:21 pm

Rudy Giuliani: the Christine O'Donnell of the Presidency.

Negropolis January 7, 2011 at 10:11 pm

More like the Sarah Palin of the presidency. O'Donnell is just plain, well, weird. Giuli's been eleced to shit, like Sarah. Hell, he even had Democratic fans before he hitched his wagon to the national Republican Party.

O'Donnell is a weirdo even within the narrow confine of the topsy-turvey Tea Party.

horsedreamer_1 January 7, 2011 at 1:22 pm

Not knowing when the next 9/11 is going to happen? Then why meet with MEK in Paris?

edgydrifter January 7, 2011 at 1:27 pm

Do you remember where you were when Rudy Giuliani saved America?
9/11–NEVER FORGET RUDY

My predecessor got a $30k bonus for signing Rudy to speak at our convention in 2002. (He had to call the speakers' bureau and get the check for $100K in the mail, a tough assignment.) The attendees treated Rudy like God and he treated everyone like sh*&. The "photo op" afterwards consisted of Rudy grimacing into the camera and pretty much refusing to talk to any of the VIPs. What a guy. For 100k he could have at least smiled!

Schmannnity January 7, 2011 at 1:40 pm

Rudy's picture suggests that he has the GLBT electorate sewn up in his fur coat pocket.

Katydid January 7, 2011 at 1:43 pm

I'm not sure which is my favorite Rudy memory: the dozens of times his administration violated the 1st Amendment, the cruelty to welfare recipients and the homeless, the $100 million his security firm earned after 9/11, the way his wife found out on the news that he had left her, or the fact that, at the media dinner the year before this photo was taken, he dressed up as an
"African tribesman" at the zoo, and berated a lion for being a welfare deadbeat. Yeah, that's probably my favorite Rudy moment. It was high-sterical.

EDIT: The video that was played at the media dinner. This was during the time his administration was mistreating welfare recipients cruelly, and stupidly.

Oblios_Cap January 7, 2011 at 1:45 pm

Rudy's so groteseque that even Walnuts and Miss Lindsay don't want to be seen near him.

Fleece the rubes, Rudy!

SayItWithWookies January 7, 2011 at 1:46 pm

It's gonna be a crowded Republican field if everyone less lame than Rudy thinks they can win the nomination. Quick, somebody wake up Fred Thompson.

PublicLuxury January 7, 2011 at 1:52 pm

Judy Giuliani wants to be First Lady.

OneDollarJuana January 7, 2011 at 2:10 pm

Well, maybe First Drag Queen / Closeted Homo Bernie Kerik lover.

Negropolis January 7, 2011 at 10:12 pm

Do you seriously believe the marriage is going to last that long? lol

MarionNYNY January 7, 2011 at 2:00 pm

Respirator masks! We don't need no stinking respirator masks. Heck of a job on those police and fire radios too. Putting your emergency operations there, genius. And who can forget your attempt to extend your term because we needed you so much? Please run on your record, Rudy.

chicken_thief January 7, 2011 at 2:04 pm

Haggerty and now Guiani – what's with all the queens wanting to return to the lime light?!

SnarkoMarx January 7, 2011 at 2:05 pm

I noticed that this article would make still make perfect sense if you subtituted the word "Palin" for "Giuliani" each time it appeared. You wouldn't even have to change the picture.

fuflans January 7, 2011 at 2:11 pm

rudy should go on DWTS.

duh.

HistoriCat January 7, 2011 at 2:12 pm

If Rudy really wants to be in on the next 9/11 event I think he'll have to fly the damn plan himself. If we can find a nice unoccupied building (shouldn't be hard given the economy), then I'm all for it.

iburl January 7, 2011 at 2:15 pm

Ghouliani is far too gay to win the democratic nomination, much less the republican nomination. Is it his life long dream to get his picture on the $3 bill?

x111e7thst January 7, 2011 at 2:16 pm

Fuck that ferret hating cross dressing fascist.

jus_wonderin January 7, 2011 at 2:22 pm

She's got L'eggs, she knows how to use them.

jus_wonderin January 7, 2011 at 2:27 pm

Are my posts going into a black hole?????????????

i_AM_ready January 7, 2011 at 2:32 pm

Don't forget Rudy's charming son who sued Duke University for dropping him from the golf team, and his brilliant legal argument that Duke was hurting his future career as a pro golfer by letting everyone know that he wasn't good enough to be on a college team.

Ducksworthy January 7, 2011 at 2:37 pm

Belated note to Mr. Giuliani, its OK if you want to suck stranger dicks in airport bathrooms or hire hookers to change your poopy diapers or solicit sex from young boys but God's Own Party frowns of flaming transvestites.

Sue4466 January 7, 2011 at 3:05 pm

hmmm, so cross-dressing isn't his only fetish.

jus_wonderin January 7, 2011 at 4:27 pm

"She's got L'eggs, she knows how to use them…."

ShaveTheWhales January 7, 2011 at 5:03 pm

Noun, verb, "FUCK YOU, RUDI".

lochnessmonster January 7, 2011 at 5:29 pm

I for one are glad I have not been subjected to his horrible lisp/denture problem when he speaks lately.

Urban_Achiever January 7, 2011 at 5:31 pm

All snark aside, seems like the perfect opportunity for Rudi to stay relevant would have been about a month ago–he shoulda been on Fox News every damn day demanding that Congress pass the First Responders Bill, instead of waiting until 5 days after Jon Stewart shamed everyone into taking the matter seriously, and then appearing on some fox affiliate.

Sorry I cannot be more witty or clever, but WTF Giuliani?????

Negropolis January 7, 2011 at 10:15 pm

Instead, he was out yelling about the "Ground Zero Mosque" when all of that shit was going on.

Fucking pitiful.

chascates January 7, 2011 at 5:48 pm

“He’s not being talked about among the Republican contenders, and his ego can’t take that.”

Jesus, that applies to about 20 guys and at least two women.

Walkinwiddaking January 7, 2011 at 6:16 pm

I didn't agree with the man's politics before or after 9/11 but on that dark day and in the ensuing weeks Rudy did the country proud.

Veritas78 January 7, 2011 at 9:34 pm

Some people are easily pleased.

BarackMyWorld January 7, 2011 at 7:16 pm

Rudy Giuliani is an asshole. 9/11.

Walkinwiddaking January 29, 2011 at 6:27 pm

That's right. No prisoners. I can't get use to this on/off 0 or 1 Brave New World where we can't for a moment give a tip of the hat to someone we may disagree with and who stood up and spoke for us on a brightly lit dark day.

GeorgeVreeland January 7, 2011 at 8:04 pm

Rudy Giuliani is no hero.
While he is often called the hero of 9/11, the truth is that Rudy was a terrible leader during his years as mayor of New York City.
He made bad decisions and took a girlfriend while being married.
In fact, he even wanted his lover to live in the same house with his wife.
Most people would call this perverted.
New Yorkers were so sick of his antics, that they wanted him out of office.
Then came 9/11.
The only reason people call Giuliani a hero today, is because he just happened to be NYC's mayor during that bad time.
Any mayor would be looked at as a hero if they showed their face under those circumstances.
If there was no 9/11, Rudy would have become a joke.
This is not the kind of leader we want in the White House.
In closing, the New York Post once reported in their paper that Giuliani spent more than $48,000 of campaign money on posh hotels while claiming to have spent the least of all the Republican candidates when he last ran for the White House.
Rudy is a good time leader, and does it with other people's money.

Negropolis January 7, 2011 at 10:05 pm

What are you talking about? Gulli ain't waiting for another 9/11. He'll make another if he damend well has to. He'll just call up the Saudi Royal Family, you know, like he did the first time.*

* I shouldn't have to offer a disclaimer, but that was a joke.

zhubajie January 8, 2011 at 5:34 am

I've long had an intuition that America needed a cross-dressing fascist to complete our transition to a 1/4 assed Byzantine Empire. Maybe he can be Palin's VP or UN ambassador or something.
