In Washington speak, a moderate is someone who breaks with their party on 1 out of 100 votes in order to take a bold stand supporting something that's already popular.

Murkowski is (or at least was — I'm waiting to see if she's been freed) a solidly center-right, reliably Republican vote. They can call her a moderate-centrist all that they want to, it doesn't make it so.

But this is how we win – chipping away vote by vote and one thing and one congressperson at a time.
This is on our side; Republicans have no morals or political position generally speaking and if they get their delicate feelings hurt or feel a change in the political wind they can be had.

It's FAR more likely when he new Congress is up and running with more GOP influence that Murky will shift right back to her old self, than for her to go off on her own. Murky is a 'politician' if there ever was one. She'll look at the lay of the land, but her finger in the air and see which way the wind blows, and it ain't blowin' towards the Dems at the moment.
