It's a Republican WAR up in Alaska, where Senator Lisa Murkowski just announced she's running a write-in campaign against hairy-cheeked weirdo Joe Miller, the Tea Party darling who won the GOP primary. Murkowski, a senator since her dad appointed her in 2002 whenhewas elected governor, won her 2004 election but last month lost to Ivy League teabagger Joe Miller by 2,006 votes -- the final tally was 55,878 for Miller and 53,872 for Murkowski. She's also one of those rare Republican pro-choice pro-science "moderates," which makes it so much easier for knuckle-dragging Wasilla gangster Sarah Palin to continue hating her so much.
Palin, who is sleazing around Des Moines tonight in hopes of shaking down old donors for jewelry and American Eagle coins, immediately jabbered some anti-Lisa mumbo jumbo to her beloved media, while selling books:
“It’s a futile effort on her part, it really is,” she told reporters in Des Moines, in between signing copies of her book for fans. “She certainly has the right to do so, but Joe Miller is the right person to lead the state and this country.”
What a wonderful day it will be when Senator Joe Miller is finally sworn in "to lead the state and this country." Palin doesn't even know what a senatoris, does she?
Meanwhile, the confused and agitated GOP leadership in Washington is just going bonkers.O'Donnell, Murkowski doing a write-in, Palin doing GOD KNOWS WHAT in Iowa, Robert Gibbs barely able to contain his chuckling when he calls Sarah "the most formidable force in the Republican Party right now" -- if it was even possible for Mitch McConnell's head to turn atop that goiter he uses for a neck, it would be spinning very fast indeed tonight:
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell made clear Friday night that the party is backing Miller and Murkowski would be out of the leadership if successful.
"I informed her that by choosing to run a campaign against the Republican nominee, she no longer has my support for serving in any leadership roles, and I have accepted her letter of resignation from Senate leadership," McConnell said in a statement.

Here's hoping Murkowski will dig up all the dirt she can on Palin out of spite and broadcast it to the world.
AK elections director said "intent of voter" not spelling is criteria for write-ins. if you thought hanging chads were fun, wait'll we're debating dipthongs.
