Sarah Palin Continues To Hate America

by Jack Stuef

Get back to where you once belonged.Sarah Palin continues to be a major critic of President Barack Obama. Why are people giving her a platform? Why would anyone think she has any particular insight into national issues and how our federal government should operate? Wouldn’t it be cheaper just to mic up a grilled cheese sandwich and ask it questions? But at least she adds to the diversity of the medium, because unlike most people on our teevee boxes, she hates the United States of America.

Sarah Palin Monday night chided President Barack Obama for his support of the right to build the proposed mosque two blocks from Ground Zero in New York, saying the president “doesn’t get it.”

Oh, no? Good to see that Sarah Palin managed to get her doctorates in religious studies and political science. Finally, somebody who can speak with authority on this subject.

“It sounds cliched to say that the president is disconnected from the American people on this issue, but how else do you describe it,” the former Alaska GOP governor said on Fox News.

You want to know who else is disconnected from the American people? Sarah Palin! She lives in the middle of nowhere, thousands of miles from where the vast majority of Americans live. Which is fine! But it is sort of hard to be the voice of America. Not impossible! But it is impossible to be the voice of America when your idea of America doesn’t extend beyond uneducated white people who are Christians. And when you think that is the only kind of America that should exist, that is known as hate.

You want to know how to describe the president’s view on this issue? It’s the great American tradition of not giving a shit what other people do or want to believe. And yes, it’s pretty important to the fucking Constitution.

“He just doesn’t get it, that this is an insensitive move on the part of those Muslims who want to build that mosque in this location.”

Somebody is not getting it! Somebody is being insensitive! Perhaps with some education, Sarah Palin could understand that “those Muslims” are Americans. And perhaps she might understand that the mosque that is ALREADY THERE gets pretty crowded! That is one reason why it would be good to put another one in this location! And perhaps she can understand that cities are places where people are not just white and Christian! And perhaps, for a fucking second, she can try to understand how it feels when somebody hates you and associates you with terrorists because of your religion or your name or the color of your skin, even though you love your country. And then perhaps she can understand that she does not live in this fucking neighborhood and has no idea what should or should not be built there. There is probably a crazy homeless man who masturbates at the World Trade Center site every day, but she has no idea.

Meanwhile, the grilled cheese sandwich is tolerant of Americans who are not white and Christian. The grilled cheese sandwich lets people be. The grilled cheese sandwich does not hate American values that make white and Christian people less fucking special.

“It feels like a stab in the heart to, collectively, Americans who still have that lingering pain from 9/11.”

Yeah, gonna go ahead and assume it might feel more like a stab in the heart for people who simply want to be a part of their own community and practice their own mainstream religious beliefs in a simple manner, without being called the murderers of people who used to work in their community.

If it feels like a stab in the heart to Americans that Muslims are a part of our society so close to where the World Trade Center stood, not only do those Americans refuse to acknowledge the true nature of their country, they actually hate it.

“If the purpose of this mosque, as we are lead to believe, is to create this tolerant environment, to avoid anything like a 9/11 ever repeating, you have to ask why didn’t one of those 100 [existing] mosques already accomplish such a thing,” Palin said.

Yes, isn’t it fucking amazing, Sarah Palin, that no matter how much Muslims practice their religion peacefully and are decent, hard-working Americans, people like you still refuse to tolerate them? We certainly do have to fucking ask why people like you continue to not tolerate them! What do Muslims have to do for you to tolerate them? Oh, right, there is nothing they can do. You just have to stop hating them. That’s something you have to do. They can’t do it for you.

Meanwhile, the grilled cheese sandwich waits by the phone for someone to call it and let it give its opinion on how exactly we should restrict religion in the United States. [Politico]

Hola wonkerados.

To improve site performance, we did a thing. It could be up to three minutes before your comment appears. DON'T KEEP RETRYING, OKAY?

Also, if you are a new commenter, your comment may never appear. This is probably because we hate you.

I’d hit it.

I have run out of clever things to say about this woman. Just shut up, Sarah. Just shut up forever, go away. You are a cynical hack who makes a living from making things worse for everybody. You’re gross.

I don’t trust any of them Middle Easterns, to be honest. Especially that peacenik beardo that went around trying to incite rebellion against the government. What was his name? I forget now, but it was definitely something furrin.

JMP August 17, 2010 at 2:05 pm

“Why are people giving her a platform? ”

It doesn’t matter how irrelevant someone is, if they once had a prominent political role and say that they’re thinking of maybe running for president, the media will give them a platform to campaign, even when the person quit their actual relevant position a dozen years ago the presidential run talk is just a disingenuous attempt to get air time and shill books and other attempts to profit. I call this the Gingrich principal.

Baby who ate the Dingo August 17, 2010 at 2:14 pm

Why does Sarah Palin always sound like she’s rambling after a night of hard drinking? Kind of half drunk, half hungover, half pissed and half-assed?

Thank Space Jeebus that Faux-GOP-NEWS exists, or she’d only be on CNN anually in the state of mental health industry segment as the knowledgable “disgruntled former postal worker/prom queen/ice skater customer.”

ManchuCandidate August 17, 2010 at 2:15 pm

Why does Sarah Palin forget that NYC isn’t REAL US America (according to her)?

Joshua Norton August 17, 2010 at 2:15 pm

Journalists used to elevate discourse, not serve as a megaphone for partisan attacks. They should be serving as the people’s representative in Washington, not merely inciting in them the familiar cycles of rage and grievance.

Shit that $arah says is on the level of brainless bilge dished out by Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan. The publishers and editors who make their profits by pretending a titillating Tweet qualifies as news should go unwatched and unread.

Like OMG Dude!

JMP August 17, 2010 at 2:16 pm

[re=640259]freakishlystrong[/re]: Yeah. I can’t believe her statement, “It feels like a stab in the heart to, collectively, Americans who still have that lingering pain from 9/11.” Actual New Yorkers in the area overwhelmingly approved the not-ground-zero not-mosque. Someone like Palin, who was not actually affected the attacks, does not have any real lingering pain from 9/11.

doxastic August 17, 2010 at 2:16 pm

The coordinators of Park51 would like to put all of this in terms that Palin and ‘real America’ can understand, but the goodwill gesture hit a roadbump when their teenage daughters refuse to get knocked up by the local handsome ne’er-do-well. Something about wanting to go to college….

The nice thing about politics in the late 19th/early 20th century is that when politicians wanted to trash someone for not being “American” enough, they were honest enough to admit that they meant not white, anglo-saxon and protestant enough

sezme August 17, 2010 at 2:20 pm

Wouldn’t it be cheaper just to mic up a grilled cheese sandwich and ask it questions?

For a second there, I thought you were advocating the microwaving of an innocent grilled cheese sandwich (which would be torture) rather than the first-amendment-respecting act of using a microphone to listen to that grilled cheese sandwich speak its mind.

Microwaving Sarah Palin on the other hand, might not be such a bad idea.

user-of-owls August 17, 2010 at 2:20 pm

Hey Jack, I actually do have a doctorate in Political Science so I can speak with some authority on this subject. In our discipline, Palin is what we technically refer to as a “fucking shithead.” Hope this helps.

Baby who ate the Dingo August 17, 2010 at 2:21 pm

Listening to Sarah is like trying to put the toilet paper back on the roll after using it the day after CabbageFest at Leisure World. Messy and Complicated? Yes. Thoroughly entertaining? No. Unless there are red-breasted boobies and woodland titmouses.

“Nobody argues that that freedom of religion that the Muslims have to build that mosque somewhere,” Palin told Greta Van Susteren. For the mosque to be “so adamant about this exact location just a block or two away from 9/11, again, is that knife, it feels like.

I don’t usually use a knife to eat my grilled cheese, but in her case, I’m willing to make an exception.

So for the whole history of this fucking teabagger eruption they — with Sarah at the forefront — have been bitching and moaning about following the Constitution. Now all of a sudden the Constitution has fallen down a well or something, because you certainly don’t hear about it from them in reference to this argument. But I’m fascinated to hear that our human emotions trump the ideals of our democracy, Sarah — I just didn’t realize the rights we have included the implicit clause “until it offends a majority of idiotic white people.”

Mad Brahms August 17, 2010 at 2:29 pm

[re=640297]Limeylizzie[/re]: Thing is, though, how do we define the jurisdictional boundaries here? It seems the greater New York area is against the mosque. Staten Island hates it. Do we just include Manhattan? Uptowners are mixed on it. Just lower Manhattan? Who is entitled to feel righteously aggrieved?

Of course, to me, it doesn’t fucking matter, because the right to build the mosque is inalienable regardless of misplaced grief. But the way emotion travels across scales is certainly something to think about here, and it’s more than an academic issue.

Wait, so the Muslim population of New York City is roughly 600,000, and they have all of roughly 100 mosques, which means that on average, each mosque, many of which are single-room affairs, given the nature of real estate in the city, serve, on average, 6,000 people.

Yeah, why can’t they just make do with that? I can’t see any reason whatsoever why they might need any more houses of worship than they already have.

[re=640308]Mad Brahms[/re]: Actually, funny story. About two or three weeks ago, a majority of the greater city, the white trash in Staten Island included, were fine with the idea. And now, they’re not, even though there’s been no new revelations about the project in the intervening time- none of the facts have actually changed. Now, there are possibly a few explanations:
One, random noise.

Two, some people’s simmering ambivalence somehow finally blossomed into full-on dislike, randomly, several months after the news of this project first broke.

Three, similarly, apropos of nothing, a bunch of people realized that they don’t like it after all, and changed their mind.

Or four, heavy rotation of extremely unhinged conspiracy theories about the project has led people to think negatively of it, not unlike the health care bullshit, and everything else, both because each insane conspiracy theory hooks one or two extra people, and because the saturation of negativity ends up coloring people’s perceptions of the thing, even though the facts themselves are unchanged.

I think it’s obvious which one is actually happening, and that’s a big part of why I agree that, yes, this kind of thing shouldn’t actually be subject to public opinion polls. It sure would be nice if we had people who actually cared about responsible reporting of the facts, though.

People who can’t bring themselves to lie and say that the Little Mosque Around the Corner is unconstitutional, people who are too sane to say that the construction of the Little Mosque Around the Corner is evidence of Islamic Triumphalism, and people who still think it’s unacceptable to wear white shoes and straw skimmers after Labor Day.

TheWaltonFirm August 17, 2010 at 2:53 pm

For a long time I thought right wing leaders behaved in bigoted ways because of an irrational fear of islamic extremism, but lately i’ve been thinking that it is sometimes not fear, but jealousy. When the Taliban tells an “immoral” music store to close, for example, it complies immediately, and I think there are leaders on the right that are absolutely salivating over having that kind of power. That is what this Park 51 debate is about: a test for the ability of the christian right to intimidate. My biggest fear is that once constructed, this mosque will become a target of christian militancy, possibly even the first christian suicide bomber. Is that too far-fetched? (im not making predictions, just considering a worst-case scenario).

It’s insensitive for a mosque to be built in Lower Manhattan, but it’s not insensitive to shriek into the camera every waking hour that all Muslims are terrorists and want to kill all Americans?
It’s all about “states right” when passing a No-Browns Allowed Law in Arizona, but when the city and state of New York give the go ahead to build a mosque in Lower Manhattan, Wingnuts from other places lose their collective minds.
It’s bad enough that these people make no pretense to hide their racism, but they have begun to celebrate it and wear it as a badge of honor.

They don’t even like New York. The people still so sore and upset about this didn’t have to watch it from their window when it actually happened. But hey, I guess you can’t leave the preservation of Ground Zero to a city full of gays and Muslins.

typewrighter August 17, 2010 at 3:40 pm

I really think it’s more offensive to have people from nowhere states like Alaska taking smiling photos of themselves and their fat spawn in front of Ground Zero like it’s Cinderella at Disney World. Or maybe buying and wearing items decorated with meaningless slogans and images that they don’t understand are wildly inappropriate and a “stab in the heart” to most new yorkers.

Sarah, you need a good swift kick to the cunt. Welcome to America. Sorry if you find our freedoms to be insensitive to your delicate Canadian heart! Muslims have always been in New York. These particular ones, the ones that live and work downtown near the financial district, ran screaming as the WTC collapsed. What kind of fucking Nazi would say there is a no-Muslim zone for 10 blocks around the Ground Zero? I HATE HICKS!!! READ THE CONSTITUTION!!! STAY AWAY FROM GROUND ZERO, IT’S NOT YOURS!!

This guy’s a bigot too-
“I cannot imagine that Muslims want a mosque on this particular site, because it will be turned into an arena for promoters of hatred, and a symbol of those who committed the crime. At the same time, there are no practicing Muslims in the district who need a place of worship, because it is indeed a commercial district. Is there a side that is committed to this mosque? The fact is that in the news reports there are names linked to this project that costs 100 million dollars!…”

[re=640485]dualdiagnosis[/re]: At the same time, there are no practicing Muslims in the district who need a place of worship, because it is indeed a commercial district.

Umm, yeah. I’ll get right on telling my friends who live a block away from that proposed site that they clearly don’t live there, because it’s “a commercial district”, and obviously those definitions are completely ironclad in Manhattan, where nobody ever lives above a storefront or anything, and there are never apartment complexes constructed a block or two away or anything, either. You know, like this one, right here.

While I’m at it, I’ll also have to tell my mother, who lives in an apartment in a “commerical district” in the suburbs, also inexplicably above a storefront. Everyone knows you can’t live in or near a “commericial district”, ever!

But, yeah, great job confirming that opposition is generally inversely proportional to familiarity with that actual part of Manhattan.

Surfeit O'Hubris August 17, 2010 at 5:17 pm

At this point I don’t just hope they go ahead with building the cultural center that includes the mosque: I hope they make sure it’s the BIGGEST FUCKING MOSQUE EVER, its minaret extending far into the sky, like a giant middle finger that can be seen clear over in Inbredmethfreakville, Alaska.

One Yield Regular August 17, 2010 at 6:45 pm

I have just two questions for Ms. Palin:

1) *Exactly* how far away, measured in precise meters or yards or grizzly bear cubits, does a mosque or Islamic center have to be from Ground Zero for it to be acceptable for New York Muslims to practice their Constitutionally guaranteed freedom of religion?

2) *Exactly* how close, measured in precise meters or yards or grizzly bear cubits, do surviving 9/11 rescue personnel need to be to Ground Zero to not have their health benefits blocked by the GOP?

And let me add a point of my own…if Ground Zero is so sacred, then why are the powers-that-be in NYC constructing an OFFICE BUILDING (a temple of Mammon) on the site? The worship of Allah is “insensitive”, but the worship of the almighty DOLLAR is okay?

She’s a liar, phony and transparent, because of her I’ve had unpleasent reactions with fellow Seniors in my community ( How anyone could possibly give her credibility is beyond belief)Yet they do? The worst of it is her disrespect for Our President who bears the burden of another bunch of Criminals and Liars who accomplished nothing but chaos and the deaths of innocent’s.What the hell happened to Integrity (If there ever was any) in the GOP? I coined a term “The Repugnants” (At least I think I did)It’s sad that we have elected Politicians who think so little of us they have the arrogance to flaunt their disdain in our faces ! I cant remember a time when I felt fearful of the election of a Republican (Tho It did’nt make me happy)I always felt secure because they were fellow Americans,I no longer have that confidence and that feeling of security. The day has come when we must be very wary , Given a chance they will stab us in the back if we allow them to take power! They’ve shown their true colors don’t forget this past couple of years the GOP has turned it’s back on America.

Broken Malice Machine August 18, 2010 at 1:44 am

Off topic but I considered for a moment registering at Politico so I could bash some wingnuts and that bald wonder Mike Allen for his always palpable conservative bias…then, meh it’s politico. So instead I decided to come here and mock this dingbat ratsp. First off, oh king of cranial capacity, it’s you’re. If a wingnut ever actually managed to use the correct version of your in a sentence I’d probably keel over and die. Most of them just hedge with the ultra intellectual Ur. Right Dr. Wingus, Jack here is disparaging the constitution by calling it the “fucking constitution”, not offering it as an emotional point of emphasis against this vapid tart you and the other inbreds masturbate to constantly; and he’s also telling people how to think, which Sarah Palin and Newt NEVER do while preaching to the choir on Fox, “How dares U Jack and you’re Steuf!, sounds french to may!”

Yep, Ratspt we’re the zombies here for dissenting against a moronic opinion that polls closer to the majority than it ever should; not the ones like you out bashing others for dissent because duh, “we hates thems muslins!” is such a logical opinion, you’re right! He does lose on substance and fact because as previously mentioned who can counter “we hates thems muslins!”? It’s perfect logic if I’ve ever seen it. Not to mention calling President Obama (that’s right oh sewer of seed in your sisters vagina, President Obama) a communist is about the most uneducated and illogical thing a person can do, hence bringing you full circle. Congratulations! You’ve just earned a BS in nonsense *BS not meaning Bachelors in Science* from Beck U and now you can brag to the other ‘baggers about “you’re degree!”

Broken Malice Machine August 18, 2010 at 1:56 am

I’ll never understand the wingnut obsession with this dumb bitch, it’s like they’ve never been laid before and a wink from her is enough to hold them all forever….wait a tick, it makes sense now! All I can surmise is the wingnut male love is Sarah Palin is egotistical because as we all know deep down inside wingers like ratspt and Erik son of Erik love the cock. She is a dumb bitch, staggeringly so, even. No disrespect to the females of Wonkettia but sometimes you just have to call them what they are and if you ever need to define what a dumb bitch really is, this is the Alpha of dumb bitches. Her opinions are never rendered with even the slightest hint of policy knowledge; you’d think after being unemployed this long Sarah the baby dispenser would have read something, somewhere; and you’d be wrong for thinking so.

She’s the update to the 1990′s Jerry Springer demographic: the idiotic uneducated white trash who watched his show while sucking down beer and hurling what bon-bon’s went unconsumed at the television has grown up and somehow has regressed from her primordial state. She’s not even Bush with tits, that’s too lofty of a standard; no she’s Joe the Plumber with optional uterus. She’s the Blue Colar Comedy groupie; the chick who hangs around after has-been 80′s uber pansies Poison finishes a show so Brett Michaels can add her to his bedpost. She’s everything wrong with this country, it’s spiraling education and family torn apart by the ravages of unfettered capitalism; a world where ignorance is king and dog eat dog applies to one’s own siblings. In other words she’s a classic ‘bagger and a dumbfuck for all seasons and yes the terms are interchangeable.
