Peter King Not Going To Let You Worship Al Qaeda Near Ground Zero

put a boot in that mosque's ass

So, um, this photo was on Pete King's Congressional website. Without any explanation. Yeah.Long Island Congressman and ranking Republican on the House Homeland Security Committee Peter King wants there to be an investigation into the funding of a proposed mosque to be built near the World Trade Center site in New York City, because terrorists are the only Muslims in the world with money, right? “It’s a house of worship, but we are at war with Al Qaeda,” King said. Muslims worship Al Qaeda! Makes sense. We wouldn’t want Muslims to think they are welcome near Ground Zero, because that might show we don’t hate them and do allow them to be free in our country.

The mosque is a project of the American Society for Muslim Advancement and the Cordoba Institute, which promotes cross-cultural understanding between Islam and the West. Cordoba’s director, Imam Faisel Abdul Rauf, has refused to disclose the sources of funding for the mosque and once suggested in a television interview that U.S. policies contributed to the 9/11 attacks.

Oh no! You know who else has suggested that? Everyone!

Even though a mosque is supposed to be a religious setting, ground zero may not be an appropriate spot for this or any proposed mosque, King said.

“Right at this moment in history, it’s bad form to put it there,” he said. “There are things you are allowed to do, but that aren’t appropriate to do.”

Yes. At this moment in history, you certainly wouldn’t want any of that “cross-cultural understanding between Islam and the West” that crazy terrorist imam was talking about. [AP]

    Fun fact from Wikipedia:

In the 1980s, King frequently traveled to Northern Ireland to meet with IRA members. In 1982, speaking at a pro-IRA rally in Nassau County, New York, King said: “We must pledge ourselves to support those brave men and women who this very moment are carrying forth the struggle against British imperialism in the streets of Belfast and Derry.”

    Three thoughts:
    - There’s an army recruiting station catty-corner to the Oklahoma City memorial. And yet no one seems upset about the McVeigh – Army connection. How strange.
    - Lower Manhattan is about 4 blocks wide. Anything down there would be “close” to the WTC. Sorry our island isn’t big enough to separate your hate, jerks.
    - Peter King is a douchenozzle.

  3. comicbookguy

Didn’t the NRA just pass a law that says you don’t have to disclose your source of funding? Also you can carry guns in a mosque at ground zero. In fact, if everyone in that mosque had been armed on 9/11, they could have fired up in the air, downing those planes before they did any real damage.

    WOLVERINES AKBAR!!!!

  4. mumblyjoe

It should also be pointed out that it’s not in Ground Zero itself, but actually like three or four blocks away. You know what else is three or four blocks away from Ground Zero?

90% of Lower Manhattan, that’s what.

    Asshole.

  5. freakishlystrong

Would these idiots heads assplode if they found out that actually some of our “SUPPORT THE TROOPZ!!1″ are muslin?

[re=616260]Lucidamente[/re]: So KING was-a-Palin aroun’ with the terrorists don’t ya know? Wing nut paradox, the gift that keeps on giving.

  7. friendlyskies

Hey, I thought Bush and Giuliani promised us a “Freedom Tower,” despite our war with terrorist Vichy France.

  8. just pixels

I heard separation of church (and mosque and synagogue) is in the Constitution somewhere. Was I misinformed? Perhaps some strict constitutionalist could clarify this situation.

BUT, if the government can decide where churches (and mosques and synagogues) can be built, I would like the one near my house knocked down — the one with those loud bells clanging away at 10am — 10am for God’s sake!

  9. you didn't ask, but

[re=616260]Lucidamente[/re]: Oh so he’s just a full-of-shit racist then. Thanks for that.

It’s called diplomacy, you stupid fuck. Learn to play/pray nice with others.

I’m sure Rep. King also wants the Catholic Church to disclose all the funding for church related properties that are “near” schools or residential neighborhoods. We know those pedophiles in robes are getting cash from somewhere, and while they can have churches in every community, maybe it isn’t appropriate for them to do so.

  11. user-of-owls

Of course there’s no photo caption, Jack, because if there was it would read:

“Rep. Steve King (right) meets with member of the controversial Los Engancheros militia in this undated photo. The militia group, which uses armed force to repress the swelling ranks of the Palin Hookworm Conjecture Movement, is alleged to have ties to death squads and illegal worm wranglers.”

[re=616279]Berkeley Bear[/re]: You’re implying logic and fair play. This does not compute.

  13. SayItWithWookies

You know what also caused a huge amount of damage and destruction on 9/11? Buildings. I find it highly inappropriate that there are buildings within a block of ground zero.

  14. Sleeves

Racks and racks of rolled Red King fingerhut tracts to be pushed from a converted commuter turbofan…

  15. JMP

You let them build a mosque in lower Manhattan, then the next thing you know American Muslims will start thinking they’re equal citizens with full rights, as if there was freedom of religion in this country. And of course every single member of a given religion is responsible for the actions of every single other member; that’s why there’s no Catholic churches allowed in London or Belfast.

  16. x111e7thst

On the one hand: Building one less place where money is extorted from the credulous on the pretext that a really big good fairy who lives in the sky wants it that way? A good thing. I only wish this wise course of action could be generalized to all the other flavors of delusional thinking.

On the other: PETE KING CAN’T SUCK ENOUGH

  17. Snarkalicious

After the tragic fog related plane wreck that devastated the Polish people, it is inappropriate at this time that clouds should pass over the nation, let alone without revealing the original source of their moisture.

  19. bfstevie

[re=616279]Berkeley Bear[/re]: Oddly enough, King–himself a Catholic– went after the pedophile Catholic church several years ago when it had the temerity to disagree with him on some issue. He was the only Republican member of the House not to vote to impeach Bill Clinton. Why? He’s a friend of Bill and Hillary because Bill worked with him on the whole ugly Northern Ireland thing. Every year King is opposed by the worst democratic congressional candidate ever. When Hilary was running for the Senate she didn’t do a thing to help whoever the democrat sacrificial lamb was that year.

While he’s a dangerous right winger, King is an enigmatic dangerous right winger. By today’s standards, however, he’s from the left wing of the Republican Party.

  20. WadISay

Let’s assume that the mosque was funded by House of Saud, of which Osama bin Laden is a member. That would make it equally as vile as the George W. Bush presidential library.

  21. Native of SL UT

You know what else kills people in New York? Taxis! You know who drives Taxis? Mulsins, of course!

We should outlaw all mosques everywhere where taxis are driven. Or outlaw taxis near ground zero or something.

  22. Scarab

But wouldn’t building a mosque at the site discourage Muslim extremists from attacking?

  23. bjkeefe

So, um, this photo was on Pete King’s Congressional website. Without any explanation. Yeah.

Ha-ha! Not any more! Looks like you shamed them into deleting it. Looks like the thumbnail is still there, though: fifth from the left, top row.

    Islam is a masculine religion.
    Christianity is a feminine religion.
Windmills are a fucking retarded religion.

We are at war with group A! So we can’t let group B build a house of worship for use by group B!

[re=616314]Scarab[/re]: Depends on what flavor of mosque it was. Your Al Qaeda types LURVE blowing up Shiite mosques, or Sufi mosques or insufficiently fundie Sunni mosques.

  28. Baldar T Flagass

Well, them muslims were originally planning to build the mosque in Switzerland, but…

  29. AnnieGetYourFun

[re=616345]Lazy Media[/re]: Don’t forget the Bahai! Or any other teeny sect that branched off and spends most of its time meditating and trying to become ONE with their god. Al Qaeda hates that hippie shit.

  30. Baldar T Flagass

And how did that guy get that assault rifle on that aircraft? Fucking minimum-wage TSA employees.

  31. McDuff

[re=616287]SayItWithWookies[/re]: Airplanes also caused a lot of damage on 9/11. This must mean that those geese were actually DEFENDING New York City against airplanes when they took down Capt. Sully’s plane. More geese and fewer planes over New York!

  32. Extemporanus

[re=616264]mumblyjoe[/re]: Wow, um, making fun of reasonable reactions to a gruesome anti-semitic mosque that’s planned 4 blocks away from me is so funny that it makes me wish you had decided maybe this was inappropriate and kinda fucked up to post.

    Seriously, wtf?

I’m afraid that the IQ of this country is rapidly descending to somewhere around the level of Peter King/ Jethro Clampett. The GOP dumbing-down of America is working so well that most people probably fail to find any irony to this story. I particularly like the idiots who want to dismantle the Dept. of Education. There is something about the United States of White Home-schooled Creationists that makes me think it would have a very short future. But Oh! for those short years, to be Harold Hill. (or Palin- that starts with “P”, which rhymes with “T”, which stands for Trouble.)

Buddists and Hindus should probably vacate lower Manhattan while you’re at it.

they already worship there, they just want to refurbish and rename it.

How to get a free video camera:

    1.) Go to a Scientology Centere and stand in front;

    2.) Scream about how Lron is a nazi and you are going to dig him up and skullfuck the corpse;

    3.) A Scientologist will run out of the Centere with a video camera;

    4.) Kick said person in the balls, pick up camera off of the sidewalk;

    5.) Walk away.

What good is religious freedom if you can’t use it to get free shit?

  39. Neilist

Hard to tell from that photo.

But if I had to guess, I’d say its a Heckler & Koch 416. That’s basically the M16 “Jammin’ Jenny” Piece of Shit Lower/Receiver, with a new pushrod upper to replace the direct gas system that was/is one of the reasons for the jamming.

Delta and Special Ops can afford them. But the grunts are stuck with the M4, which is the carbine version of the original POS.

And which jams only slightly less often than the original.

(I knew you Liberal Commie Pinko UZI-Loving SCUM were wondering.)

  40. Neilist

[re=616594]CessnaDriver[/re]: Interesting idea. But the Scientology Center here in L.A. has armed security guards, all of whom are member of the cul :::whoops::: . . . Church.

And they’re not carrying cheapo Rugers, either.

And they wear this “Sea Org-ish” uniform that makes them look like REALLY Disgruntled Postal Workers.

Which is not a Good Thing.

    Trust me.

I hear that NAMBLA wants to set up an outreach center on Museum Mile, I suppose you wackjobs would defend that *too*. Freedom of speech and all, say no more.

I tire of having to explain this to you brain-dead cretins, but the word is spelled thus: musliMs.

“I didn’t ask your butt” said this: It’s called diplomacy, you stupid fuck. Learn to play/pray nice with others.

I sometimes try to put emoticons in my posts, but I always screw them up :#% :(&

[re=616631]Neilist[/re]: So how come the troops are not “losing” their inferior guns and replacing them with with captured Kalashnikovs? That’s what the smarter US troops in Viet Nam did. (I’ll bet there are a lot of Lee-Enfields leaning in people’s living room corners, too. Probably more than a few of the 10 rupee jazail.)

[re=616640]Obamas Left Testicle[/re]: Y’know what has made us smug, gutless Libtards piss our pants with laughter more than anything since The Black Arab took over? Cretins who believe that “intellect” is an obscenity and “ignorance” is an American Ideal For Living trying to fucking spell protest signs!

Here’s a quick history of the phenomenon with some visual aids for your posse:

    1. We started using MUSLIN after we saw this sign which was quite likely the work of a MORAN.

    2. Since then, that’s just the way they roll.

    3. Being held up to public ridicule apparently doesn’t seem to be an issue.

    4. Since the last set of MORANS were sent packing, the Tea Party continue to redefine the term with breathtaking regularity.

    Any questions?
