Kyrgyz Ethnyk Unryst Out Of Contryl

by Josh Fruhlinger

  • I will suppress your ethnic violence, darlingThings are pretty bad when you’re asking the Russians to invade you, right? Well, it seems that things are pretty bad in y-happy Kyrgyzstan right now, with the ethnic riots, and the death, and the flows of refugees to the Uzbek border! And so they’re asking the Russians to, uh, send troops to restore order (i.e., invade). This is a plan where literally nothing could possibly go wrong! And when things don’t go wrong, they surely won’t have uncomfortable-making consequences for the U.S. and the Kyrgyz military base it has come to rely on rather heavily. [BW]
  • Despite Ron Paul’s best efforts, the Fed will apparently continue to exist and be powerful, forever. [Reuters]
  • Will Tea Party supporters help get a lesbian Democrat on the ballot in Utah? Eh, probably not. [NYT]
  • Closing arguments are starting in the California trial on whether gay marriage is a constitutional right! Hopefully by the time it gets to the Supreme Court, Obama will have replaced everyone with more “softball-playing types,” if you know what we mean, and we think you do. [WaPo]
  • Greta Van Susteren has signed a new contract with Fox News and will be around for years and years, hooray! [NYT]

memzilla June 16, 2010 at 8:32 am

Boris and Natasha’s evil plans have won? What will happen to Moose und Sqvirrel?

Oblios Cap June 16, 2010 at 8:35 am

The Russians will triple the rent on our base. Your tax dollars at work!

plowman June 16, 2010 at 8:40 am

And why wasn’t Al having sexytime with this Natasha chick instead? If you’re gonna get busted (and you almost always will), it may as well be worth it…

Katydid June 16, 2010 at 8:46 am

After suffering more than a year of abuse over its role in the financial crisis…

Poor Fed, a victim of domestic abuse.

Damn! Hot AND Cold

Larry McAwful June 16, 2010 at 9:06 am

I wonder if the Russians could have saved Lynyrd Skynyrd, too? Water under the bridge now, I know, but it’ll be a counterfactual question that hystyryns will be wrestling with for generations to come.

Geogre June 16, 2010 at 9:08 am

If you want to be safe, never stick your troops in any place until you’re sure that it’s a safe, comfortable fit. If the base is unstable, you’re not going to have a happy, long term relationship, and your ultimate goal, of coming to a place of true conquest, will be frustrated. This is why you need to check out your potential mate carefully, and not stick your troops in any old isthmus or port, like a coked up frat boy with a C- average after a bender of skipping out on “drilling a dry hole” in Texas and playing with a baseball team.

A healthy general is a wise general, and a wise general is a healthy general.

[re=599607]Larry McAwful[/re]: Could the Russians have saved Lynyrd Skynyrd? No.

However, the Soviets have saved triple guitar southern boogie bands five times with nuclear weapons. We need to use nuclear weapons to save light aircraft in mechanical failures carrying beloved rock bands.

WarAndG June 16, 2010 at 9:15 am

If only some of those people were more brown over there talk radio slobs could definitively tell us who to shoot and who to save if we have to do something with our bombs and stuff.

JMP June 16, 2010 at 9:23 am

One would think the Russians would have learned from both our example and their own, not too distant history that sending in troops to take sides in another country’s civil war is not exactly a great idea.

Hey, don’t pick on the Fed; it’s really kept us safe from the currently non-existent threat of inflation, and all it’s cost is keeping the unemployment rate up. But investors are safe, that’s the important thing.

Tcaalaw June 16, 2010 at 9:31 am

What, no coverage of the Perez Hilton/Miley Cyrus up-skirt incident, a scandal that is tearing our nation apart and challenging the very definition of what it means to be an American? That’s just a big pile of fail, Wonkette.

I hear the Russians have some good ideas on plugging oil wells too..

This “sentence” from the Fox press release NYT about Gertie Van S is a real brain twister: “Fox News dominates the cable news landscape, regularly drawing three times as many total viewers in prime time than MSNBC or CNN.”

Three times as many than?

Long Form Def Certificate June 16, 2010 at 10:28 am

Lesbian? Mormon? History teacher?

I regret I have but one primary vote to give for my country. & alas, it’s not for Utah.

[re=599663]V572625694[/re]: Now with five times less mistakes!

There’s mistakes everywhere.

NYT, as someone here pointed out, has reporters (Carlotta Gall), and then it has… these… creatures. They “write” things. Mainly they do cut and paste, badly, and then they get to climb the ladder.

Let me see your snowpeaked mountains way down south. Cyme and keep your cymrade warm.

Now that Greta is with Fox for the duration, let’s send her to Wasilla again, this time for an in-depth profile of Bristol and Levi’s co-parenting sleepovers. Greta can probably crash on their couch if she buys pizza and six-pack.

The Russian officer lady is my favorite Lady of Wonkette since Tiny Hat Girl.

slappypaddy June 16, 2010 at 11:01 am

i’m sure the russians will be happy to leave as soon as their work is done.

artpepper June 16, 2010 at 11:42 am

McCain would be whistling “bomb bomb bomb Kyrgyzstan” if he could remember for long enough.

Mad Brahms June 16, 2010 at 12:01 pm

[re=599776]artpepper[/re]: His slurred, stuttered pronouncement of “bomb bomb (ishtan)” will ensure that all of central asia is a smoldering wasteland by next year.

If all Russian soldiers look like this, they can invade anytime they want.
