Real-World Use Found For ‘The Politico’

by Ken Layne

News-cycle Man's batcave is the sewer under this street.
Has the Pennysaver of American Political Trivia finally found a real-world use?

Not really, but at least a Politico street rack was put into actual service to humanity. Wonkette operative “Brian S.” sends this stunning photojournamalism: “Due to a water main break at 21 & Penn, the street is closed. Thankfully, Politico wins the morning by donating its (empty) paper box for public safety!” We are pretty sure Politico management would actually fire this inanimate newspaper box if word of this do-gooder no-scoop behavior reached headquarters.

Moonbatting_Average May 17, 2010 at 11:13 am

It’s the finish line in the race to the bottom

ttommyunger May 17, 2010 at 11:14 am

The street rack was empty? Cheney must be sleeping late this morning; nothing to report.

JadedDIssonance May 17, 2010 at 11:15 am

The newspaper box was empty because it just donated its contents to help plug Deepwater Horizon.

Great; the Politico’s reporters are already insufferable with their constant self-congratulations, now their honor boxes are going to get into the act. You know that box is never gonna shut up about what a hero it was for protecting the public.

Odd. Politico actually helped in stemming the guano faucet that is D.C.

Katydid May 17, 2010 at 11:26 am

That’s a First Amendment violation unless the Politico box volunteered to help, which I very much doubt.

And Wonkette operatives are everywhere.

OT, but I hope [re=578398]Limeylizzie[/re] noticed what our pretend girlfriend Tamron Hall is wearing today. So quaint, so…not sure. Help me out here, fellow lounge lizards!

mumblyjoe May 17, 2010 at 11:28 am

Once again, Politico WINS the morning… by default.

The Silver Fox May 17, 2010 at 11:33 am

That paper box is actually Mike Allen’s apartment.

[re=578431]Extemporanus[/re]: Politico is actually far larger on the inside!

I heard Byron York was there to personally supervise.

Likely, there are seven press releases out on the AP wire from politico’s Spike Alan, the editor, about how this box was heroically used for something, and how no one else’s newspaper box was used for anything, and how this use of this newspaper box represents the future of journalism.

This is probably the best use of politicrap, or whatever that thing is called, since it started.

Gorillionaire May 17, 2010 at 12:25 pm

Politico – Fox News for people who try to read.

progressiveinga May 17, 2010 at 12:38 pm

[re=578457]V572625694[/re]: That’s hot.

gurukalehuru May 17, 2010 at 12:56 pm

That traffic light is in direct violation of official Wonkette policy, i.e. linked to Politico.

whiskey tango foxtrot May 17, 2010 at 1:11 pm

They print Politico on trees??? This is another sure sign that I made a good move from DC to Chicago – there, you get the print edition of Politico. Here, I get The Onion on every street corner.

PsycGirl May 17, 2010 at 1:12 pm

Donating a paper box for PUBLIC SAFETY sounds liberal to me.

mumblyjoe May 17, 2010 at 1:20 pm

[re=578512]whiskey tango foxtrot[/re]: They call themselves America’s Finest News Source in jest, but honestly, they’re still way better than Politico, all the same.

SayItWithWookies May 17, 2010 at 1:21 pm

Oh, I just assumed that was a fancy trashcan. Oops.
