My wife and I are in the sweet spot between poverty and affluence where we get the whole $2K credit, and as a result, usually about a $1k refunded at the end of the year.
However, I’m pretty sure we spend more than that on food, clothes, private school tuition, orthodonture, piano/voice/ballet lessons for them; so the little nippers have not turned out to be a very good short-term investment.
