- Saturday, April 3 through Sunday, April 18: Because going to theater should somehow involve saving the world, check out In Darfur at Theater J. It’s a captivating story about the genocide in Darfur, and the theater is also offering free post-show discussions with some pretty kick-ass people about how to get involved and make a difference on the issue. - Saturday, April 3 through Monday, May 24: Famous controversial filmmaker Elia Kazan made lots of great (and controversial) movies, and you can see 10 of them, including On the Waterfront, A Streetcar Named Desire, and America, America at the AFI Silver Spring as part of their “Elia Kazan: “A Centennial Retrospective.” [AFI Silver]
- Wednesday, April 7: Seeing an opera is a ridiculously expensive endeavor, plus it’s highly likely that you’ll end up just taking a really expensive nap, so better idea: head to the Atlas Performing Arts Center for their “Opera in Cinema” events where you can see a top notch Opera in HD for only $20. Oh, tomorrow’s just gonna be too gorgeous to watch anime all day long. Just take some acid and wander around the city — that Pierre L’Enfant knew how to make a city congenial to hallucinogen users — and it would be disrespectful to his legacy not to take advantage of that.
