O’Keefe & Friends Make Plea Bargain?

by Jim Newell  4:09 pm March 26, 2010

James O’Keefe and his Watergate Jr. friends, including PENIS MONOLOGUES guy and the one Facebook-banging Scott Brown’s daughter, have had their federal charges reduced to a single misdemeanor, for being assholes on Federal property. Smells like a plea bargain! Are they going to rat out their Overlord Andrew Breitbart’s illegal Sugar Caves, or something else? [Court .pdf, TPM]

Freedum’s just another word for ratting out your boss.

queeraselvis v 2.0 March 26, 2010 at 4:17 pm

Boo no jail time. I was really looking forward to seeing Jamie-boy shipped off to the nearest pound-me-in-the-ass prison. Que sera sera.

WadISay March 26, 2010 at 4:17 pm

Christ, the elocution paragraph sounds like some 8th grader’s “What Me and My Idiot Friends Did Last Summer” essay.

Jukesgrrl March 26, 2010 at 4:18 pm

When did our Justice Department turn all gay and socialist and forget how much they enjoyed waterboarding?

SmutBoffin March 26, 2010 at 4:18 pm

I have a law degree from Liberty U., so I have every reason to believe my assessment that these 4 are victims of ACORN’s and Obama’s Chicago Alinsky unrepentant thug laws against whitey is true.

See, being rich and well-connected has it’s advantages.

Kids do the darndest things, don’t dey?

“Smells like a plea bargain! Are they going to rat out their Overlord Andrew Breitbart’s illegal Sugar Caves, or something else?”

I don’t think so. This smells more like, “Flanagan’s daddy has friends in the AG’s office and got them all off with misdemeanor charges.”

But I hope I’m wrong and you’re right. A plea bargain to get someone higher up on the Fox Party food chain would be much more satisfying.

Smoke Filled Roommate March 26, 2010 at 4:22 pm

So they plead out like the pussies they are. Not surprised.

JMP March 26, 2010 at 4:22 pm

With just a misdemeanor, these guys will still be able to vote; boo, I say.

Besides, shouldn’t tough, principled, courageous conservatives have stood by their actions in court? Why, you’d almost think these bullies were really wimps once faced with real consequences.

snideinplainsight March 26, 2010 at 4:22 pm

Can I just say the fawning adulation Brietbart recently received in, of all places, WIRED magazine, made me seriously reconsider my subscription. I would cancel it entirely, except for the “Japanese Schoolgirl Watch” column. Seriously, I really would.

Extemporanus March 26, 2010 at 4:22 pm

“This is the true story of four wingers, picked to live in a cell, shower together and have their cavaties searched, to find out what happens when property stops being polite, and starts getting real…”

[re=541990]Jukesgrrl[/re]: Maybe there are still some holdovers from the Bush administration still in the DOJ.

Mad Brahms March 26, 2010 at 4:24 pm

[re=541999]JGabriel[/re]: I wouldn’t give them so much credit for being organized. These people couldn’t find their own teabag with both hands.

Monsieur Grumpe March 26, 2010 at 4:25 pm

I’m disappointed they’re not taking it to the Supreme Court.

wx insider March 26, 2010 at 4:26 pm

Thank God this national nightmare is finally over!

V572625694 March 26, 2010 at 4:33 pm

[re=541990]Jukesgrrl[/re]: DOJ only likes to facilitate the waterboarding of Brown People. Whites give up too easy, not enough of a challenge.

Plus:
White person crime = misdemeanor
Brown Person crime = Terrorism!

Is that so hard to understand?

SmutBoffin March 26, 2010 at 4:34 pm

Do they get furloughed from their parents’ basements now?

GOPCrusher March 26, 2010 at 4:35 pm

[re=541986]queeraselvis v 2.0[/re]: I don’t think this was Jamey-boy’s last run-in with the law.

Prommie March 26, 2010 at 4:37 pm

They have knowledge of Andrew Breitbart’s sugar walls? Eeewwwwww.

problemwithcaring March 26, 2010 at 4:39 pm

The healing process can start!

Gorillionaire March 26, 2010 at 4:40 pm

If I were a former employee of an ACORN office I would be launching my sue-the-living-shit-out-of-these-rich-crackers suit about right now.

Lucidamente March 26, 2010 at 4:42 pm

Look at the bright (breit?) side: less chance for the four mouseketeers to play the martyr (going to jail made the careers of Chuck Colson and G. Gordon Liddy), no vomit-inducing legal defense funds springing up.

Lionel Hutz Esq. March 26, 2010 at 4:43 pm

But how can O’Keefe know what it is like to be a real pimp daddy if he doesn’t get some street cred by being ass raped in prison?

SayItWithWookies March 26, 2010 at 4:46 pm

If convicted, Flanagan, Basel, O’Keefe, and Dai each face a maximum term of six (6) months in prison and a fine of $5,000.

Okay, I’m cool with that — the odds that O’Keefe is going to violate his parole are so great that if he doesn’t end up in jail this time, it’s worth letting him have another shot.

Sweet Baby Cheeses March 26, 2010 at 4:48 pm

[re=542030]Gorillionaire[/re]: I suspect the shuttering of ACORN has put lots of people out of the job. CLASS ACTION!!

Mr Blifil March 26, 2010 at 4:49 pm

It was the first time he ever played a political prank, and it will certainly be his last!

Lucidamente March 26, 2010 at 4:54 pm

Breaking into a Senator’s office to mess with her phones, that’s so January 2010. These days you gotta threaten her children or cut her gas line if you want some street cred.

VINDICATION

Joshua Norton March 26, 2010 at 5:05 pm

You know what is a misdemeanor? Not having sex. De more you miss, de meaner you get.

Bah-dum-bump!

Maus March 26, 2010 at 5:16 pm

Boys being boys, they’ll never see a felony.

glamourdammerung March 26, 2010 at 5:37 pm

What a load of crap.

Godot March 26, 2010 at 6:10 pm

I thought this was about Georgia O’Keefe.

bbqboy March 26, 2010 at 6:23 pm

[re=542176]Godot[/re]:
Well now, that puts us right back at the Vagina Monologues again.
Not a bad thing.

Barrelhse March 26, 2010 at 6:29 pm

[re=541999]JGabriel[/re]: But still not as much satisfaction as seeing them punked in jail, as QueerasElvis said.

AnnieGetYourFun March 26, 2010 at 6:32 pm

Called it. I don’t remember when, but I remember calling it.

Can O Whoopass March 26, 2010 at 7:52 pm

The Watergate kids will get free healthcare and legitamate prostate tests in prison, not those fake O’Reilly hand puppet, FOX jobs he practiced on Hannity.

Tommmcatt March 26, 2010 at 9:24 pm

This is the Breitbartocoplyse, finally, right?

Ninong March 26, 2010 at 10:54 pm

Seriously, what did you expect? Robert Flanagan’s father, William J. Flanagan, is the acting U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Louisiana. http://www.justice.gov/usao/law/

Did anyone seriously expect that the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of the state was going to put the son of the acting U.S. Attorney for the Western District in jail?

lulzmonger March 26, 2010 at 11:06 pm

Six months (that they’ll probably never have to serve)? For fucking with the phone sysytem of someone on the DHS Committee?

Good thing they weren’t doing something REALLY HEAVY like growing pot in their garage, eh?

Marlowe March 27, 2010 at 12:30 am

[re=542035]Lucidamente[/re]: Can you picture any of these goys eating a rat?

Jukesgrrl March 27, 2010 at 12:52 am

[re=541993]SmutBoffin[/re]: I’m laughing!

[re=542020]V572625694[/re]: I bow to your analysis.

Advocatus_Diaboli March 27, 2010 at 9:07 am

I thought the troof was going to set them free? Isn’t a plea bargain something a little different from the troof?

mumblyjoe March 27, 2010 at 10:30 am

[re=542004]JMP[/re]: No, no, no. Personal Responsibility only counts when you’re using it as an explanation for why it’s good to fuck over the poors, not when it comes to personally taking responsibility for you own actions.

zhubajie March 28, 2010 at 10:08 am

Think of all the business connections they will miss out upon! For some people, prison is the equivalent of joining a fraternity!
