This is a good idea and will make Republicans look better!
Let’s see let’s see what will make Americans realize that getting some basic assurances of health care in this country is a super-bad & extra-terrible thing?

Uhh … health insurance for poor people causes delayed meeting with the Lord Jesus, in space? How about overpopulation, is that something we’re for or against? Against? Shit okay think think think — Mark Kirk’s already doing that “restore the pre-existing conditon” thing, right? And we’re … for that, because of whatever, Liberty? Okay but we need our own thing, uhhhh … we still do that racist thing where we call minorities racist for being against racism, right? Okay let’s go with that, “Obamacare Is Slavery,” perfect, good work everybody.

OH WAIT, some of you have even *better* ideas?

Jeff Head had the best meme for this: Obamacare – The Final Solution.

That is good. Because you want something catchy, and not too hyperbolic, and of course nothing that would offend anybody, or that, say, mocks the extermination of six million Jewish people. Do we still believe in the Holocaust? Right, right, not that much, but enough to keep in line with AIPAC, so Jesus can return to slaughter the Jews once and for all. Okay, breakout sessions! 1. Obamacare slavery: More terrifying and oppressive then any other prior incarnations of the peculiar institution. That is, in the foul dreamworld of Retardlican land and the parallel universe of the Rand-bots.

  2. [re=539650]Accordion-o-rama[/re]: MMM..Jesus said nothing either way on the slave issue. St.Paul, of course, famously vaccilates between saying there is no distinction between slave or free-man in the Body of Christ, and saying slave, obey thy master.
Sorry, as a fervent practitioner of poppery, I feel obligated to defend the honor of the Christ when ever possible. When I am not engaged in foul sexual fantasies or laughing (and making) obscene jokes on the Internet.

  3. [re=539650]Accordion-o-rama[/re]: Jeebus wouldn’t accept assignment from Medicare, though. Didn’t like the reimbursement schedule.

  4. With Jews behaving like Nazis and gays posturing as hardcore homophobes, it’s only natural that Blacks should want to bring back slavery. With the roles reversed.

  5. I just have to wonder if at some point these idiots will realize that there really is no “Obamacare” and that they have been sold a massive and disgusting lie by right-wing asshole demagogues.

No, I didn’t think so either.

  6. [re=539660]Marxist-Leninist Papist[/re]: Well, given that slavery was omnipresent during his lifetime, his silence on the matter kind of implies he didn’t have much objection.

  7. What dorks! The plan hasn’t even started yet and there’s already damage to the “land of the free?” These guys really need to get laid.

With a human female this time.

Wingnuts who compare anything to slavery need to undergo some serious horsewhipping for breaking some minor rule and then think about that slavery meme thing again.

  8. The irony of some wingnut using a fake name that means “out of many, one” to promulgate a divisive meme is, well… ironic.

  9. They are so desperate to be heroic freedom-fighters in their own minds, when all they have to do is enlist in the Army and yet they don’t.

  10. Funny thing is, these people arr of the ideology and character that they would have been defending their darkey property to the last poor white trash soldier a 150 years ago or so.

  11. I’ve been working on a few memes of my own, and I thought I would run them up the flagpole here:

    * Self-adhesive postage stamps = child prostitution.
    * Michelle Obama’s fitness program = Bataan death march.
    * Reconciliation = Massacre of the Armenians.
    * Bo = Man-on-dog action.

  12. There will soon be efforts to restrain the spread of this “healthcare” to only southern states. Because their economies depend upon it, being agrarian and all.

  13. OK, if Obamacare is slavery, how will the wingnuts fill out the rest of Orwell’s quote?
Hmmm…”The screaming teabagger movement” is peace and “FOX news” is strength seem to fit their state of mind…

  14. Yes, because in single payer land of Canada City that’s all we’re about. Slavery.

I think it IS time for a modest social experiment proposal. US America should kick out two states (Real America only has 48 states!!!), preferably Southern and predominantly Red. Call it Dumbfuckistan or Whitey Land or some stupid fucking name like that. Gather up all the Fundies/Teabagger/Randheads/Norquists/SkoalRebels and stick’em in there. Let’em spend all their fucking time screaming about freedums and Jeebus and guns and butt secks. Let the place live by the rules as laid down the Constishun and then see what happens. I figure it won’t be a Galtian Paradise, but even more pathetic Somalia as run by white incompetent fatties.

  15. [re=539672]Accordion-o-rama[/re]: The use of historical context has no place in the bibble. It’s the Iron Maiden for you, heretic.

  16. [re=539674]steverino247[/re]: These guys really need to get laid….With a human female this time.
Damn, I would not wish that on any female, except maybe Ann Coulter, or Michelle Bachmann, or Orly Taitz…
    …um, OK, I see your point…

  17. Jesus how much more crazier can they go from socialist, communist, illegal alien, , stalin, mao, hitler and my personal favorite the antichrist. They need Glenn Beck to hold his breath for 2 minutes or so in order for something more batshit insane to come to that empty head.

  18. I said it in an earlier thread and I’ll restate it again here– Slaves got excellent health care what with their Master’s trying to keep them healthy enough to pick cotton for 10-12 hours a day. If they weren’t so healthy, how could they sing all those work songs all day like the Camptown Ladies?

[re=539661]V572625694[/re]: Plus, have you seen the red-tape involved in healing lepers all willy nilly like he did? He wasn’t even part of an HMO.

  19. “Yeah, the ‘slavery’ is good, but you know what’s better than slavery? Genocide! Run with it!”

Jebus, how does a conversation like that even take place?

  20. I love “proposed meme”, as in “Im just going to submit this to the high meme council for approval”, “Dear Mr. Tremblay, thank you for your submission, but we have decided not to include your meme in our spring journal” etc…

  21. [re=539672]Accordion-o-rama[/re]: Oh, just if you were curious what I thought on the matter…theologically, I, and many thinkers within the Church, believe the event of Christ, the Gospel of Christ, transcends whatever the ontic human being that was Christ thought, said, or did. The implications of the Word are an infinite call to live in the Spirit of Liberty and Love. And this can lead us, as Christians, to bear witness to conclusions not envisioned by the original Teacher in his historical context.
Sorry for delivering to you what must be Theological Bull crap to you (and unfunny at that) as well, but maybe it will make where I am standing clear to you.

  22. [re=539689]ManchuCandidate[/re]: A counter proposal: Keep the 50 states as is, move the bubbas to some possession of the U.S. worth letting go of (and relocating the populace from) maybe the Marianas? The republicans already love the place for its’ lack of workers protections etc. (just ask Jack Abramoff) and the richer ones could start preying on the stupids right off the bat. Sort of like a white middle aged Lord of the Flies theme park…

  23. Wingnut #1: How about “rebutting actual points of the bill that we are unhappy with”?
Wingnut #2: Naaaahhh, we need something zippy, like “OMG my ass is on fire!”

  24. I suggest the slogan:

    Arbeit Macht Frei Medizinische Versorgung

Roughly meaning …only work makes medical care free

I think this should make the spirit of what these folks stand for very clear.

  25. [re=539689]ManchuCandidate[/re]: I like the cut of your jib, Manchu. I proposed something similar, albeit more ambitious, in the wake of progressive despair following the 2006 presidential elections. At that time I suggested we, well educated, progressive knowledge-workers repatriate to whichever European country speaks to the moiety of our mongrel genes. After all, they’re suffering from demographic decline, anxious about multiculturalism in the form of North African immigration. Plus they seem to have what we want: good health care, great coffee, bread and dairy products, a lovely standard of living, pleasing architecture, tolerant social policies, and great public transportation (though the Deutscher Bahn isn’t what it was 60 years ago!) A real win-win. With the bonus that detritus left behind can finally settle into the vicious plantation theocracy it so desperately longs for. (Apologies for textwall)

  26. “ObamaCare is Slavery
    communism is slavery
    obamacare is communism

    one step further

    Obamacare is the Democrat Party
    The Democrat Party is Communism”

Ah, the beauty of the Freeper mind at work! It’s like watching a drunken carthorse taking part in a dressage display…

  27. Obamacare = Slavery for the whites! Whites will be forced to work “organ plantations” and give up their healthy organs to the blacks and the browns!!! Kind of like that new Jude Law movie…

  28. We all have to decide between sweet freedom and keeping your family members alive and healthy. It’s not unlike when Meryl Streep has to give up her kid in Sophie’s Choice. We’d all pick freedom, right? And Obama is the Nazi commandant who makes her his rape whore driving her to eventual suicide.

    Am I wrong?

  29. How about this? Start a meme that the red states have historically been fighting for civil rights, and them yankee coloreds have traditionally fought to preserve segregation, racism, and slavery. I think that might catch on, especially in the Deep South.

“Obamacare is slaver” is good. Even better if we say “Freedom” as a shorthand for Obamacare. Now what can we say to make people okay with war? make it sound all peaceful like? And maybe a third meme… something about something is strength…

  30. I wonder if the right wingers went this nuts after Social Security passed? Are we reliving history here? It’s obviously the default mode they’ve reverted to since the the founding of the country (except then they were called “royalists”) Conservatives believe in sticking with the tried and true.

  31. [re=539710]qwerty42[/re]: Someone needs to make it viral. Can I assign that to you? Go down to Kinko’s and make a hundred viral copies. Take it out of petty cash.

  32. Don’t tread on Anthem

    cancer is freedom

lung cancer is Marlboro Country freedom

Dead kids are the American Way

Malnutrition – love it or leave it

“Rub some dirt on it” – Good enough for John Wayne, good enough for me

    Hands off my Diabetes

Give me uncontrolled hypertension or give me death

Although that last one really isn’t an “or,” I suppose.

  33. Great description, Ken. Thanks. I needed a little laughter with all these threats of violence going on… Making people think they’re fighting slavery or the final solution by opposing hcr will really tamp that down…. Avarosis says: “The first time a member of Congress or their family is physically harmed by a Teabagger, the GOP can kiss their aspirations for public office goodbye for the next century.” I hope he’s right and that the physical harm isn’t some deluded teabagger thinking he’s the next Nat Turner or Helmut Hirsch!

  34. War is Peace.
    Freedom is Slavery.

Some wingnut read this in his Cliff Notes for “1984.” Book learning should not go to waste.

  35. [re=539745]Joshua Norton[/re]: Me too — are there no historians among us? After Social Security/Medicare/Civil Rights passed, was there this kind of freakout-meltdown-crazytown-flipout on the right? Let us know, I’m too lazy to google…

  36. [re=539765]Underemployed[/re]: So is DumbFuckistan now a reality, and we liberal bleeding hearts and/or socialist comrades can invade and liberate them from their benighted darkness ?

  37. [re=539759]Rosie Scenario[/re]: Perhaps they have a point – George Orwell died of TB in 1950 – when Britain’s NHS had already been set up.

  38. [re=539767]HuddledMass[/re]:
Social Security-No, people at the time were to poor and unemployed to buy the idea they were being put under socialistic slavery

Medicare-AMA, apparently vigorous oppossed it, but Wikipedia mentions no mass wing-nut movement to oppose it. Probably because we were all Keynesians at that point.

    Civil Rights-HELL YEAH.

  39. [re=539765]Underemployed[/re]: The hipster w/ the ironic moustache @ 2:19 is too perfect….

[re=539772]weejee[/re]: “jeepers freepers” wins for me… i need to laugh today… this whole violence thing is really freaking me out, to be honest… i keep thinking about that 4/19 “anniversary” gun rally the militias are planning “as close to dc as they can legally hold it…”

  40. [re=539774]Snarkalicious[/re]: Oh no hard feelings at all. This is not a philosophy or theology site ,so to hell with those things. When I am on Wonkette, I am a Papist in brackets. For we are all scoffers of everything when we write here.

  41. Render unto God what is God, and render unto Soetoro’s what is Soetoro’s, unless it’s subsidizing the care of a terminally ill child, in which case fuck that shit.

  42. [re=539785]Snarkalicious[/re]: Oh HA HA HA, very funny infidel. You are lucky I believe in the Universal Salvation of all creatures, or you would be facing a very uncomfortable future in HELL, my man.

  43. [re=539689]ManchuCandidate[/re]: Texas has threatened to jump ship, let’s put them all there, plenty of room, no healthcare and lousy schools. Enjoy!

  44. [re=539770]Marxist-Leninist Papist[/re]: By all means. I am currently located in BFE DumbFuckistan, just down the road a piece from where they tried to rapture Perriello. I could use me some liberation.

    It is pretty here though.

  45. Jesus + Slavery Fun Fact: The only European state to officially recognize the Confederate States of America was… The Vatican. Infallible!

  46. meme: “all your organs are belong to us.”

nah. probably too geeky for people who can’t figure out how to get the cursor from the subject box to the text box in email.

[re=539724]Heywood Jablome[/re]: holy shit. there was a presidential election in 2006? how drunk am i?

  47. Do not worry, my children. Once they need health care and find they can actually afford it now, they will become willing slaves to our…uh…basic levels of human decency. Mmmmmmmoooowhaaahaaaaaahaaaa. (Cough).

  48. [re=539805]Marxist-Leninist Papist[/re]: Uncle Rulon is one of the leading candidates for being the Hitler of comparative religion. I mean, he didn’t kill that many minorities (that we know of, anyhow…FDL turf is vast, rough and wild), but OTOH, once you toss his name in the ring against someone in the know, the rational discussion is fucking OVER.

  49. [re=539784]ElitistMarxist[/re]: Re: Hipster. I had no idea what you were talking about… and then I fast forwarded through their little donation video to 2:39. Ah…

  50. [re=539767]HuddledMass[/re]: No historian here, but St. Ronnie of Reagan did warn that Medicare would lead to totalitarianism and said:

“If you don’t [stop Medicare] and I don’t do it, one of these days you and I are going to spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it once was like in America when men were free.”

  51. Forced Meme is Forced, n00b.

You know your political party has hit its dregs when has become a chan imageboard: thinking in terms of memes and spamming Hitler for the purpose of desensitizing your audience to its presence in debate.

How much longer until we see Obamacare = goatse?

  52. [re=539856]ella[/re]: Which is great because his party spent so much time trying to tear down medicare and block stem cell research he spent his sunset years telling his children “eh? what? who are you?”

  53. [re=539906]predilectrix[/re]: Sarah has her gun sights on a few Democratic congressmen for revenge.
Is she tuning up the helicopter?
    [re=539864]Mista Eko[/re]: GOP=4chan

  54. [re=539679]TubeCity[/re]: win!

[re=539781]ElitistMarxist[/re]: Hitler’s B-day? The Teabag-Terrorists are planning a ‘rally’ to DC on Hitler’s B-day, eh? I’m hoping for live Int’l coverage of that!

  55. “Hey, I know! Let’s get all our Tea Party seniors to give up their Medicare as a protest against government run health care!”

“Are out of your goddamn mind, just try to pry Medicare out of my mother’s cold, nearly dead hands!”

“But, won’t someone accuse us of hypocrisy if we keep supporting Medicare and Medicaid in my state and file a suit against government run health insurance?”

“Well, they haven’t noticed for nearly forty years…let’s not give anyone any ideas, okay?”

  56. “Hey, I know…let’s get our Tea Party seniors to give up their Medicare in protest! I can just see the signs…’Medicare is Totalitarianism!’ or ‘Reagan said Medicare would lead to this!’

“Um, I’m not giving up my mom’s Medicare. Hell no, Fuck that! Then I’ll have to pay for her hip replacement next month.”

“But, isn’t that hypocrisy filing suits against government run health care when some of your family is on Medicare?”

“Well, we were hoping no one would notice that. They haven’t for nearly 40 years.”

  57. [re=539719]Rotundo[/re]: If we’re going to move them to an island, it has to be a low-lying one that’s going to be threatened by global warming.

  58. [re=539831]Dean Booth[/re]: ech. Not Catholic and probably no one is still reading this thread, but have to correct you anyway. So: Papal infallibility wasn’t established until Vatican I and doesn’t apply to everything a Pope says. Plenty of reasons to hate religion without coming up with more out of ignorance.

  59. Isn’t Free Republic that Charles Something guy who quit bloggin’ ’cause the teabaggers were too nutty even for him?

Or have I got the wrong Freeper?

(oh, no! Now I’ve got “Who killed the Freeper?” runnin’ ’round my brain.)

  60. [re=539998]Cesar Px[/re]: I’m an ex-Catholic and know about the restrictions on papal infallibility; I guess I should avoid sarcasm here. I’ll give the Vatican a brownie point for not claiming infallibility when it endorsed a nation founded on the right to own human beings.

  61. Have they decided this is more of a Commie plot or a Nazi conspiracy yet?

Come on, choose one. Well, I guess you don’t have to if you’re like one guy I just read who said that Obama was just like Hitler and making our country socialist.

What ARE they teaching people in history class anymore? Scary.

  62. [re=540011]Dean Booth[/re]: I apologize for being dickish. Didn’t mean to defend the Church necessarily, just a little OCD for exactitude. Don’t even really like the Church, just prefer it to most Protestants. Again, sorry.

  63. [re=539972]Bearbloke[/re]: It’s actually the day before Hitler’s b-day — but it IS the anniversary of a certain little Hitler whom our friends in the militias have not forgotten… (Hint: he was “honoring” the deaths of some nice folks who just wanted to worship their messiah in their own way…) So, to me, that’s even scarier….

  64. [re=540035]Cesar Px[/re]: Father Radiotherapy hears your confession. Now as a penance, say twenty Hail Marys, fiften Our Fathers, and play Catholic Trivial Pursuit for three hours.
Wave hand in a S&M symbolistic manner.

  65. [re=540064]Bearbloke[/re]: Damn you bears are quick… don’t tell, K? none of the other bears i’ve been with have, yet… what happens in the den stays in the den (that’s our code for c street — don’t tell!)… the eagle walks alone…

  66. s[re=540064]Bearbloke[/re]: Sorry, went off on a little fantasy there…. No. The man’s name is McVeigh & the man he was “honoring” (& honor-killing-for, in his way) was Jesus Christ… which is what David Koresh was calling himself shortly before he dun got burned in waco (along w/his faithful flock & the children thereof whom the responsible adults decided life just wasn’t worth living w/o their Lord & Savior). So, no. Not Jerry Falwell.

  67. [re=539672]Accordion-o-rama[/re]: I may be wrong but the kind of slavery practiced when Jesus was alive wasn’t the same thing they had going on in North America. For one thing they didn’t mandate that one race had to be the slave and the other race the master. They also allowed the slaves to buy their freedom which I don’t remember being offered to the slaves in this country (very often). I would add a link to support this claim but it is early in the morning.

[re=539680]justthisonce[/re]: I think it is more like this… it was the southern states that supported slavery and it is the southern states that dominate the republican party today so…now they don’t like slavery, huh?
