Dick Cheney Endorses Not-Rand-Paul Kentucky Senate Candidate

by Jim Newell

Doctor St. Rand “The Son” Paul is kicking his opponent’s ass in the Kentucky GOP Senate primary, big time. This is bad for Establishment Republicans who love endless war and terror and torture. They had hand-selected this guy Trey Grayson to represent their love of death in the Senate, and now he can’t even beat Ron Paul’s dumb little eye-doctor son!

Well, it’s getting kind of late in the game, so time to just smear the dickens out of Rand Paul: Dick Cheney endorsement of Trey Grayson, the above scaremongering ad, and this hilarious website, “RandPaulStrangeIdeas.com.” Check out Rand Paul’s “Anti-Kentucky Views”!!!!

If the guy has anti-Kentucky views, he can’t be all bad.

Marxist-Leninist Papist March 24, 2010 at 1:41 pm

You know, that add was definitely a pot calling the kettle black situation. Big time.

V572625694 March 24, 2010 at 1:43 pm

Opposes Federal drug enforcement, attacks Mitch McConnell, opposes Afghanistan surge, opposes war in Iraq, opposes Kentucky coal.

What’s not to like?

Paul continued: “We have legislators we sent to Washington who think their job is to be an errand boy or an errand girl for us…and grab as much federal money as they can get and bring it back.” Sitting at the table closest to the podium was Hal Rogers…CONGRESSMAN Hal Rogers. The 5th District Republican who went to Washington the same year Ronald Reagan did…1981. Rogers is a prolific procurer of federal dollars (aka ‘pork’). Last year alone…according to Citizens Against Government Waste…Rogers hauled home $80-million dollars in pork. So was Rand Paul CALLING OUT Rogers?…in Rogers’ own district?…within shouting distance of the Hal Rogers Parkway?…fingering Rogers for being part of the spend-aholic DC crowd?…with Rogers SITTING RIGHT THERE?

I think I’m in love.

Libertardianism forever! Bless your hearts, Kentuckians! Your already threadbare safety net will be cut to shreds.

I love the ‘vertigo lines’ behind his head. That Rand Paul is strange!

I think Cheney’s making a principled stand here as he’s always come down against the offspring of famous politicians achieving success in politics just because of their name. He thinks it’s really unfair.

One Yield Regular March 24, 2010 at 1:47 pm

I’m having the hardest time keeping Ron Paul and L. Ron Hubbard separate in my martini-addled brain, except for knowing that one has a son named “Rand” and the other has a son named “Tom Cruise.”

Extemporanus March 24, 2010 at 1:47 pm

I wouldn’t have expected someone named Charles Merwin “Trey” Grayson III to hit a guy with glasses, even if that guy’s name was Randal Howard “Rand” Paul.

Also, Tré Gayson is a former demoncrap who voted for William Jefferson Blythe III. C’mon Dr. Peepers, fight back!

RoscoePColtraine March 24, 2010 at 1:48 pm

When do I get to see Trey hook up the car battery clamps to Rand’s nipples? That would win my vote, if I lived in Kentucky. And developed my fetish for chicken-lipped sadists.

Paul Criticized The Gonzalez v. Raich Decision Which Allows For Federal Enforcement Against California Medicinal Marijuana Crops. “But from those decisions we kept widening and widening, and now we have sort of the Gonzalez v. Raich decision where they say, California wants to allow medical marijuana, and the federal government comes in and says, ‘Oh no, that defies the commerce clause also because that marijuana looks like other marijuana that could be sold interstate.’ So therefore even though you’re growing it, your own plants and using it for medicinal uses, that that somehow qualifies as interstate commerce.”

Ironically, the GOP will have to criticize the Gonzalez decision if they are to prevail in their argument that Obamacare is unconstitutional. So, the GOP establishment is attacking Paul for taking a position that the GOP establishment is taking to the Supreme Court.

This isn’t much of a surprise, as Cheney knows that it takes money to torture, deficits be damned.

Plus, if pot is legal and available, it is really hard to find anyone to carry out your orders to torture…., or find you unicorn blood for that matter.

I hads the distinct (un)pleasure of graduating from a very small college with Grayson’s god-awful sister. He’s a complete gomer of fucktastic proportions. As a native Kentuckian, there is some small part of me that would actually prefer Paultard Jr, at least for the entertainment value. I can be that blase about this since I don’t actually live there any longer. The redneckz of our fair border state get precisely the leadership they deserve.

JMP March 24, 2010 at 2:06 pm

The Paultards are nuts, but they’re always good for getting wignut-on-wignut violence started, and that is a beautiful thing to see. Still, either one of these guys would be better than the senile delinquent who held up unemployment benefits out of spite KY has in there now.

[re=539256]ph7[/re]: No, there’s a big difference. See, with medical marijuana, the feds are enforcing a federal law that the Republicans like, over a state law supported by liberal hippies. With health care, the federal law is one that Republicans don’t like, so you can see how the rules are different.

Let’s throw Rand Paul a freebie. Here’s the only ad he’ll need to run in Kentucky:

I’m Rand Paul and I’m running against the Harvard educated corporate lawyer, former Democrat and Bill Clinton supporter, Charles Merwin Grayson III. Kentucky needs a senator with hard working Kentucky values who stays true to his values no matter how the political winds are blowing. Times are troubled enough without having to wonder which liberal democrat Charles Merwin Grayson III is supporting this year. I look forward to your support in November. Thank-you.

Come back when you’ve got something substantive to say, and not the usual FOX News talking points. Those got stale around here a long time ago.

Fuck Toad March 24, 2010 at 6:46 pm

Do you like gladiator movies, [re=539768]mcaster24[/re]?

mcaster24 March 24, 2010 at 7:00 pm

So, this government program, since many other government programs have helped reduce deficit spending (name one) and have gone according to the Congressional budget office numbers (I can name many that haven’t, like 90% of them…)

http://www.bankruptingamerica.org/2010/01/21/5-recent-government-programs-that-went-way-over-budget/

will be deficit neutral after 10 years (really?). Oh where to start….
Well first, seems to me that when a government program want to say it reduces deficit spending it takes out pieces that would normally be attached to the bill and separates it into other unlinked add ons and addendums to come later.

Like, maybe a large portion of DOCTOR’S SALARIES under the medicare plan. Does seem like it should be connected to the HEALTH CARE bill eh? Well in the bill just passed it isn’t.

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Medicare-fix-would-push-apf-2700343586.html?x=0&.v=2

in fact, unless doc salaries are indeed cut then that places this health care bill at 59 BILLION DOLLARS in the red. So are choices are
A. Cut doctors medicare reimbursement by 40% and cause 1/3 of them to move to New Zealand. or
B. push our country deeper into debt by 59 BILLION DOLLARS!

Oh, and that word hurts my sensitive ears. Please hold it down over there.

Fuck Toad March 24, 2010 at 7:03 pm

Those are Serious Big Thoughts, [re=539828]mcaster24[/re]. You have shown yourself to have a commanding grasp of the Issues. When will we be hearing about your three-year contract on John King, USA?

RoscoePColtraine March 24, 2010 at 7:16 pm

[re=539828]mcaster24[/re]: One third of American doctors will flee to New Zealand? Really? Does New Zealand know that? Do these doctors know that New Zealand employs a health care scheme more in line with single payer than the market based system we’ve decided to stay with here in the U.S.? New Zealand’s health care is all paid for through taxes. OMFG.

If you didn’t know that, you really are a simpleton.

mcaster24 March 24, 2010 at 7:33 pm

sigh,

again with the name calling. You see, Comparing New Zealand and the U.S.A is not a very….smart comparison because New Zealand has an indigenous population, doesn’t provide free medical care for illegal immigrants whom they don’t collect taxes from, and also don’t have almost a 1 to 1 ratio of taxpayers to retirees for medicare.

http://www.stats.govt.nz/methods_and_services/population_clock.aspx

Doctors love going there because unlike here the docs there are contracted to work something like 38 hours a week by law! Sound like the kind of system that would work here for us?

You seem like a nice fellow, despite all the name calling. But really, the straws given to you by the party line are slipping from your grasp.

mcaster24 March 24, 2010 at 7:36 pm

Oh and thank you. I’m not smart enough to tell if it is a back handed compliment or not but I’ll take it at face value. :)

Probably not though, I’m in school and tend to have a general dislike for politicians and news shows in general on both sides (sad that we only have 2 sides to choose from these days.)

[re=539828]mcaster24[/re]: No one seemed to care when we threw billions at an unnecessary war. Since I pay my taxes, my choice is to fund healthcare, and then maybe a little education on the side so we can repair the No Child Left Behind damage. And if we can finally end the mess in Iraq, perhaps some infrastructure? Considering I have healthcare coverage and no school age children that must make me a socialist. Or just someone lucky enough to have grown up when the social contract was meant to ensure that everyone had a chance. Enjoy your classes.

mcaster24 March 24, 2010 at 8:18 pm

Preach on brother… or sister…

At least on the war, I am in complete agreement. We went there needlessly and have spent an ungodly amount of treasure for very little gain and lots of blood. No child left behind…. also a fucking nightmare that places mandates and incentives on children to be rote memorizers instead of actually acquiring a passion for learning. My brother is an elementary school teacher and we’ve had many conversations about this.

But, I think the disagreement lies in who should cast the social safety net!? Not that there should be one. The government doesn’t have money to do this, and LOTS of prior experience with government programs tells us that it will be inefficient, and when it becomes inefficient, with limited amount of funding, some form of rationing MUST take place. So, politicians must choose to ration in areas where there is as little political blowback as possible. Because, make no mistake, government regulation of market prices means that private insurance companies will be slowly put out of business due to non-competitiveness, then we really will have a single payer system, which some seem to want. For those who do, look past Michael Moore’s show and look at average wait times in canada for non-general surgeries.

http://www.cbc.ca/health/story/2007/10/15/waittimes-fraser.html

Your case for where you would spend your tax dollars is a valid one, and I appreciate the willingness to engage in meaningful conversation. I just disagree that it’s viable for this country long-term.

joementum March 24, 2010 at 8:36 pm

So we support the scion of Dr. Congressman Ron Paul this time, right? But only as a object of derision, cuz’ that’s what Kentucky is for?

I just want to get my talking points straight.

doloras March 24, 2010 at 8:51 pm

[re=539871]mcaster24[/re]: “New Zealand has an indigenous population, doesn’t provide free medical care for illegal immigrants whom they don’t collect taxes from”

LOL, Paultard, as an actual New Zealander living in New Zealand, I’m interesting to hearing about how the “indigenous population” affects your line of argument. How are Maori people relevant?

mcaster24 March 24, 2010 at 9:18 pm

Ha, I’m glad I can provide a reading list for you people,

Doloras: When I used the word “Indigenous” I just used the word that the WHO used when running comparisons on the U.S. vs. Single payer systems. The WHO meant it in context to the fact that your population as a whole isn’t as diverse and is more fixed in its percentages. No offense to the Maori.

Your use of the word “paultard” however leads me to believe you don’t want to hang out later? :(

doloras March 24, 2010 at 9:20 pm

So… just making sure I understand here, you are saying that single-payer health only works in countries where there are relatively fewer browns? Remember that 15% of this country are brown AND indigenous.

doloras March 24, 2010 at 9:22 pm

Oh, and our conservative government is bringing in an amendment to allow the children of “illegal immigrants” into the public schools:

http://www.3news.co.nz/Overstayers-children-to-be-allowed-to-go-to-school/tabid/419/articleID/121597/Default.aspx

mcaster24 March 24, 2010 at 9:29 pm

No, WHO is saying, and I agree, that our population is trending rapidly toward an eclectic mix of race and nationality as far as population, which is a good thing (if done legally.) But, it also postulates that this genetic mix brings in a larger range of genetic predispositions and conditions for the U.S. physician to treat. I’m in med school, and its STAGGERING the amount of different predispositions you see when treating different populations. Pub Med is a good site if you are interested in this. And, the fact that we have illegals who don’t seek treatment out of fear until its too late and very costly doesn’t help things.

Ha, well I’ll tell you what, you post two links, comparing your INFLUX of illegal immigrants to ours. To compare the two is laughable.

“Trey”? LOL. Is he a Romney?-or, FRENCH?

[re=539959]mcaster24[/re]: You’re in Med School…well why didn’t you just say so! Of course you’re against health care reform. You stand to see your wage scale cut back to a mere “delightfully livable wage.”

mcaster24 March 24, 2010 at 10:25 pm

Ha, actually I plan to go into primary care, which is definitely low on the wage scale. Not to mention 200,000 dollars of debt most med students accrue. I don’t expect someone to feel sorry for me, I chose it. But, I also think it’s quite unfair to assume you know my motivations. Especially since a large chunk of med students are for it, because they see what happens to people who get screwed by dickhead insurance companies.

I agree that the system needs reformed, I just don’t think bankrupting our country in the process is a good idea.

But, namecallers do what namecallers do best! :)

Wow! Almost an actual discussion there!
The future is looking brighter!

mcaster24 March 25, 2010 at 1:44 am

Agreed.

Here’s to discussions that don’t consist of name calling and smearing shit all over each other for so long that the smell begins to have just a hint of fruitiness!

Oh well, can’t act like I’m completely above it…

And here’s to acting like individual thinking Americans, and not grouping ourselves into…..groups….

Sigh…

This thread turned to dick sucking pretty fast.

[re=539959]mcaster24[/re]: Med student, eh? You’re the kind of entitled stupid twit I’d accidentally lock in the supply closet, refuse to allow you to examine my patients (I coach them to refuse to allow the med student in who has already harmed other pts), and I’d smile all nice and purty-like while accidentally putting your pile of pt notes in the HIPPA paper shredder. The pts you are sent to examine will have crap all over them and you can’t tell me to clean it up first. You think nurses were just too dumb, unlike yourself, to get into med school, so we should just put up and give blow jobs to our medical overlords. Health care is nothing like those self-masturbatory “doctor” shows on the teevee. Just wait, you Paultard shit. You know what to do with the bag o’ dicks I just left on your backpack. Also.
