White House Press Briefings Now Just Show Whatever’s On The Teevee

by Jim Newell

CNN’s beloved Ed Henry shares this picture from today’s White House Press Briefing, where everyone is just watching teevee. Those lazy slugs! It’s a beautiful day outside, and everyone should go play on Sasha and Malia’s swing set. CORRECTION: It’s a beautiful day outside, and everyone should go play Xbox on Sasha and Malia’s swing set. (Is it actually a beautiful day? We just read about it on the Internet.) [TwitPic]

Sasha and Malia have a combination swingset/Xbox? JEALOUS.

Bearbloke March 18, 2010 at 4:15 pm

I’ve always thought that each of these briefing should start with a telly replay of some currently serving or well-known ReThuglican doing something in the recent past, – followed by new video of that sample person screaming and whingeing about how the exact same rule/procedure/policy is A TREASONOUS AND UNPRECEDENTED BLASPHEMY AGAINST THE CONSTITUTION AND THE (white, christian, hetero) AMERICAN WAY!!!!!!1!!

TWO WIDE SCREEN HIGH DEF TV’s? All I have is a mercury filled 27 inch CRT screen. When does this Socialism-Share-the-Wealth start that all those Republicans talk about?

[re=533378]Zadig[/re]: Do White House children also have their own stable of gift-giving lobbyists?

Ed Henry should’ve copyrighted TwitPic while he had the chance.

The monitors will carry a feed from the Arctic ice pack, featuring the recently USAF delivered (and naked) James Inhofe. He and Obama will have a cordial back and forth about propriety in Senate debate and bodily warmth.

It’s a beautiful day in Iowa, for sure. Great weather for slopping the corn and fertilizing the pigs.

Redhead March 18, 2010 at 4:32 pm

What did you expect? It’s NCAA season. If you didn’t take the day off to watch, then you’re watching it on the office tv or online. Why should the press corps be any different?

[re=533394]Naked Bunny with a Whip[/re]: Nice! You’re definitely from Iowa if you buy them dinner first.

WhatTheHeck March 18, 2010 at 4:38 pm

Are you telling me FoxNooze will nevah see the light of pixels on those tv monitors?

steverino247 March 18, 2010 at 4:40 pm

[re=533392]Accordion-o-rama[/re]: No, but we can dream!

If those fuckin’ plasmas add to the deficit by raising the utility bill, I’m going to cancel their cable.

Mr Blifil March 18, 2010 at 4:51 pm

David Vitter has a very different kind of swing set.

Obama should come visit K’ville – it might actually get Duke to clean up the damn mess there and get the Duke students to stop puking, urinating in public and performing fellatio in front of God and everybody.

Or maybe not.

No shit. My bracket’s taking a beating. I had Nova in the Final Four. OOPs!

But I did pick BYU. Back to Hogtown, Gator babies! No matter what, we’ll last a day longer than you did in the tourney.

Redhead March 18, 2010 at 5:32 pm

[re=533418]coolcatdaddy[/re]: It’s Duke. Try to get them to do something they don’t want to do and they call Daddy’s lawyers, stamp their feet and yell “you can’t make me nah nah nah.”

Kinda like Sarah Palin, actually.

Oblios Cap March 18, 2010 at 5:33 pm

[re=533435]Oblios Cap[/re]:

Idiot! Nova won. Thank God.

Redhead March 18, 2010 at 5:37 pm

[re=533435]Oblios Cap[/re]: I’m usually not too bad at the brackets, but I looked at it this year and thought, “the fuck is this shit and why are all the usuals at the NIT?”

Still interesting to watch though. I bet money they only pull out those TVs for really important things. Heh, maybe Obama’s gonna declare tomorrow a national holiday and they were briefing the reporters on it.

WickedWitch March 18, 2010 at 6:29 pm

I for one endorse this use of our tax dollars. Actually, the media paid for them, so I can endorse that too.

Jukesgrrl March 18, 2010 at 7:06 pm

Gibbs is keeping the President’s picks a secret this year (he learned his lesson — Obama acting normal is not worth the bad press he gets for it from the right). But in spite of that, he’s not without heart. He let the press watch the game. But will they thank him? Doubt it.

gurukalehuru March 18, 2010 at 7:12 pm

So, we’re down to watching people on TV watch TV. Next, we’ll be watching people on TV watching people on TV watch TV. And then…

gurukalehuru March 18, 2010 at 7:13 pm

[re=533477]Jukesgrrl[/re]: He picked Kansas.

rocktonsammy March 18, 2010 at 7:26 pm

Thanks for fucking up my brackets Obama.

[re=533477]Jukesgrrl[/re]:

Not true – Sportscenter had a segment yesterday AM showing all the picks on the men’s side, and this morning they showed all his picks for the women.

Apparently, the Kenyan’s in the top 96% so far, so he seems to know his roundball. That, or Mishelle told him who to pick.

[re=533696]Oblios Cap[/re]: He had his personal accountants, the CBO, score it for him.
