The Snow Has Stopped: It’s Time To Get Back Out There And Play

by Arielle Fleisher

Saturday, February 13: Somehow, running in your underwear around the Capitol in the freezing cold on Saturday will cure kids of their cancerous tumors. At least this is the premise for “Cupid’s Undie Run,” which starts at the Pourhouse at noon on Saturday. Registration is $25. [Cupid's Undie Run]

  • Saturday, February 13: Mardi Gras is a celebration that involves eating fatty foods, getting naked and… listening to a Dave Matthews Cover Band and an ’80s cover band, right? The State Theater is hosting their Mardi Gras Madness event this Saturday, and it features said cover bands as well as beads and plenty of alcohol. Cost is $7 in advance, or $14 at the door. [State Theater]
  • Sunday, February 14: Start your Valentine’s Day at noon the Black Cat for their Record Fair and go back at 9PM for their 11th Annual Valentine’s Day Rock & Roll Dance Party, an event that welcomes both couples AND singles. [Black Cat]
  • Sunday, February 14: DC is more than just a town that houses the government. It’s got pollution, farmers markets, music, food, crime and other worthwhile things, all of which will be profiled in films and documentaries at the Our City Film Festival, Sunday at the Goethe Institute. [Our City Film Festival]
  • Wednesday, February 17: If your guilty pleasure is Big Love, head to the National Geographic for a screening of Among the Polygamists, a film about the lives of members of the Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day Saints, who are very into the multiple wives thing. [National Geographic]

Glenn Beck is one of those Latter Day Saints things. Very latter day in his case.

Cupid’s Undie Run? I thought they would’ve potty-trained the little bugger by now.

Call me crazy, call me wild, call me a dashed damned romantic. True love is like cardiac arrest. Once it happens, you’ll never forget, at least until the black-and-blue marks caused by the poorly inserted IV fade from your arm.

You may quote me.
