Michele Bachmann's going homeWe’ve been so consumed with the Death of America this past week that we haven’t much focused on… the Death of the Tea Party Convention! Everyone who signed up is pulling out — including, most recently, wacky old Michele Bachmann. Teabaggers have been furious that tickets are going for $549, the profits from which will go towards some white trash con-man’s bank account. So far, Sarah Palin is still set to speak for her $100,000 fee. Let’s pray for riots. Many… many… riots. [Star Tribune]

Wow, if it’s too dodgy for Crazyeyes Bachmann, it must be pretty dodgy.

Traveler January 28, 2010 at 1:55 pm

What a spectacular ball of fail this is turning out to be.

rikitikitavi January 28, 2010 at 1:56 pm

Ten-to-one odds Palin does NOT back out, no matter how much the teabaggers clamor. She is not going to give up a $100k payday.

Hooray For Anything January 28, 2010 at 1:56 pm

I was hoping for either mass food poisining or a swine flu outbreak but a riot would work.

magic titty January 28, 2010 at 2:06 pm

But who will fondle the baby Jesus’ teabags now?!?

JMP January 28, 2010 at 2:06 pm

Bachmann was just jealous that Sarah had bigger fees than her; with Katherine Harris out of the House, she thought hers were the biggest.

El Pinche January 28, 2010 at 2:07 pm

Soon it will be reduced to a whites only barbecue party at Dale (“I hate Niggars”) Robertson’s doublewide (with a deck!).

[re=503515]Hooray For Anything[/re]: Oh, I think seeing the teabaggers teabagging each other, and ripping each other apart, will be far more fun than anything from simple natural causes.

SmutBoffin January 28, 2010 at 2:09 pm

I bet even Nashville’s streetwalkers are sitting this convention out. You can’t pay for sex with poorly-written Tyvek signs.

Escape Goat Nation January 28, 2010 at 2:10 pm

The basic Ticket price of the Tea Party Convention (Convention OR Banquet…not both) is 349.00.
Not including airfare or Hotel room. The basic Ticket price of CPAC, held 3 weeks later, is 175.00.

So we have the, “Grass Roots” Tea Party charging DOUBLE of what the NON-Grass roots CPAC is charging for the cheap Seats.

The whole thing has the high stink of a Florida Time Shares Investment Seminar Scam.

These Tea Bagger fucks have to be the stupidest people on the planet to have the very people they should be protesting against rob them blind.

TGY January 28, 2010 at 2:10 pm

Their tea has become embittered. Indeed, it’s positively steeped.

SayItWithWookies January 28, 2010 at 2:10 pm

Gee, teabaggers adore free enterprise except when someone’s profiting off of them. They want to maintain ideological purity in an environment where greed intentionally prevails. And they want something for nothing but still want the big stars to come out for them. Who woulda thunk that the Republican base would have trouble understanding that you can’t get stuff without paying for it after so assiduously shepherding the country through the surplus-laden last eight years?

WankerOnWonkette January 28, 2010 at 2:12 pm

how can womenz teabag each other?

ManchuCandidate January 28, 2010 at 2:12 pm

Haha! *Nelson Muntz Style*

It takes an incredibly strong kind of stupid/crazy/retardedness that makes Bachmann Teabagger Overdrive want to flee.

Mustang January 28, 2010 at 2:12 pm

Okay, but I thought tea baggers LIKE shady dishonest white trash con men. I’m so confused.

Sen. Schlong January 28, 2010 at 2:13 pm

Not even a nutty teabagger should expect to get Palin crazy and Bachmann crazy for the low price of $549.00. Palin crazy vs. Bachmann crazy is the Superbowl of crazy. They can’t afford to give the crazy to just anyone ya know.

FatCog January 28, 2010 at 2:14 pm

how much was Bachmann and Blackburn offered? are they pissed they didn’t get the same fee, or Palin didn’t split it with em?

thefrontpage January 28, 2010 at 2:15 pm

According to the popular web site InsaneTeaPartiers.com, the following people have also dropped out of appearing at the Insane Tea Party Convention (ITPC):

–Gary Coleman

–Norm Coleman

–Gary Cole

–Gary, Indiana

–Gilbert Arenas

–Gilbert Gottfried

–Melissa Gilbert

–K. D. Lang

–Carrie Fisher

–Levi Johnston

–Carrie Prejean

–Donald Trump

–Rosie O’Donnell

–Martha Stewart.

TGY January 28, 2010 at 2:16 pm

…but Bachmann still wants their vote. She just doesn’t want to hang with them, much like John Edwards at a North Carolina country fair.

Terry January 28, 2010 at 2:16 pm

So, they need 182 full price paid admissions to pay for the Snowbunny Grifter’s speaking fee? Can we hope that they only get 180 paid admissions and go in the hole because of her?

Scaggsville guy January 28, 2010 at 2:17 pm

Uh-oh, Sarah better get paid or Bristol has to return her $60,000 Escalade. And the retarded baby already threw up on the leather seats….

Jim89048 January 28, 2010 at 2:20 pm

Heve the teabaggers finally learned the old axiom, “never pay retail”?

Manos: Hands of Fate January 28, 2010 at 2:21 pm

Why does Bachmann hate our free-market? Only community organizers and ACORN expect people to do anything without the hope of making a killing on the deal.

RoscoePColtraine January 28, 2010 at 2:21 pm

[re=503541]Sen. Schlong[/re]: I prefer to think of Bachmann and Palin as the World Series of crazy. But your post made me chuckle anyhoo.

Cicada January 28, 2010 at 2:21 pm

[re=503532]Escape Goat Nation[/re]: To be fair, CPAC does have some big money sponsors behind it, plus they don’t have Mizz Sarah Moosekiller’s speaking fee to pay. That takes nothing away from my enjoyment of watching the teabaggers cry out against the eeevul capitalist motives of their organizers. It really proves they never read Atlas Shrugged, doesn’t it?

[re=503533]TGY[/re]: Thank you. First real laugh of the day.

mumblyjoe January 28, 2010 at 2:21 pm

Hey guys, I was wondering if someone could help me with a syllogism:

Teabaggers <3 Sarah Palin
Sarah Palin <3 Money
Right-wing orgs <3 Teabaggers

Therefore, Right-wing Political Orgs give Sarah Palin money to attract teabaggers like flies on a rotting corpse (a more apt simile has never been written!), fine.

BUT: Teabaggers also hate people who are not themselves getting any money for anything, and therefore hate anyone who can afford to pay Sarah Palin to talk at them.

Therefore, Teabaggers ??? Sarah Palin?

queeraselvis v 2.0 January 28, 2010 at 2:22 pm

Better yet, Bachmann said that Palin shouldn’t drop out, elsewise it would be disastrous for her politically. Wait, what?

Also, riots? Yes please, and burnings too. Music Row could certainly use a facelift.

Paterlanger January 28, 2010 at 2:22 pm

Better than tea party crumbs dropping out of Bachman, I guess.

house of the blue lights January 28, 2010 at 2:23 pm

“Oh! It’s a profit deal!” — Steve Martin, in “The Jerk”

Also, BBC Worldservice interviewed Frau Bachmann last nite after the SOTU as if she were a normal human being. Boy, are they confused.

Sussemilch January 28, 2010 at 2:25 pm

Oh, how sad when you throw a tea party and no one comes. Maybe she’ll bring stuffed animals to fill the seats and dress them in little aprons with lace gloves and make small talk about the weather and how brown people are ruining America.

Cape Clod January 28, 2010 at 2:26 pm

If they oppose the idea of someone exploiting their political beliefs for filthy lucre then why are they all such big fans of Glenn Beck? They don’t think he believes half of the rubbish he spews, do they?

RoscoePColtraine January 28, 2010 at 2:33 pm

If they could somehow convince Lee Greenwood to appear (maybe with Mike Huckabee on bass guitar) they could move some tickets. Have they even tried?

[re=503565]Cape Clod[/re]: You forget how dumb they are. The Teabagging Conference organizers just made a mistake in being too open about how much they’re profiting.

I_KILL_ZOMBIES_ALSO January 28, 2010 at 2:36 pm

And here’s the thing. I would pay the ticket price just to watch this fantastic fail happen. At some point, there has to be an increasing probability that libtards will keep this thing afloat for sheer entertainment value.

JMP January 28, 2010 at 2:37 pm

[re=503571]Radiotherapy[/re]: If they wanted to be honest, they’d revive the Know-Nothing Party.

But guess what, this leaves room on the rostrum for THE BIG ONE, Jim Traficant. Just do it teabaggers!!! Beam him down.

Escape Goat Nation January 28, 2010 at 2:40 pm

Kind of like having a Solipsist Convention.

NotthatLC January 28, 2010 at 2:46 pm

FIVE HUNDRED AND FORTY NINE DOLLARS??
Are these people high??
They expect their “constituency” to pony up $549 to go to a convention when they won’t even pay that for dentistry work? Teabagger, please.

bureaucrap January 28, 2010 at 2:47 pm

Let’s not get too excited about the death of the tea party — its death, like Mark Twain’s may be premature. This is what their website says:

“You may place your name on the waiting list in the event additional tickets become available. Thank you and we look forward to seeing everyone at the Convention! Regrettably, there are no longer any Convention Only or full convention tickets remaining.”

So apparently there ARE enough suckers to line judson phillips’ pockets.

For their $549, do they get to have their picture taken with Bible Spice? Or will that cost extra, with an additional fee if she poses holding the look-I-didn’t-abort-this-retard prop baby?

Sarah is certainly a greedy, self-centered bitch, isn’t she? Twice in as many days, the thought of her makes me think (but not type) the four letter word for women that I refuse to use. I can’t think of any other time in my 60+ years that anyone incited me to use the c-word.

That’s what makes Bible Spice special.

I am reminded of the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party (yes, I know it was at the March Hare’s house):
“No room, no room!”
“There’s plenty of room.”

That always happens at Tea Parties.

When did laissez faire capitalism start to mean “capitalism with brains off” instead of hands off? Paying Palin 100k to speak is right out of the Marx Brothers — GROUCHO: How much if she doesn’t speak? CHICO: Forget it, boss, you couldn’t afford it.

Mr Blifil January 28, 2010 at 3:50 pm

In their defense, the now-famous liberal gatherings like YearlyKos and the other one that Atrios sets up cost a fair amount in hotel fees and travel and admission. In objecting to the price, the teabagging ball-suckers are simply admitting the obvious, there’s no point in going unless you want to work on your cheerleading.

DP January 28, 2010 at 3:52 pm

From the linked article:

“Unlike Palin, who is reportedly getting a $100,000 speaking fee, Dziok said Bachmann was not getting any money for her speech.”

Says it all, right there…
