Meghan McCain Is All Sorts Of Disenfranchied, For Being Such A Liberal Nominal Republican!

by Juli Weiner

How do you say ” : ( ” in Twitter-speak?

UPDATE: More randomly chosen POLITICS BUZZWORDS—let’s call it a “clarification,” for the sake of irony—after the jump.

Maybe if you hadn’t adopted such a wide stance on marriage equality, Megs, George Washington University wouldn’t have been able to cut down your cherry tree.

Terry January 19, 2010 at 5:14 pm

GW uninvited her because she supports gay marriage? Meagan, honey, who do you think will believe that? What’s the real reason? Did you send the president of the university a photo of your chest?

petehammer January 19, 2010 at 5:15 pm

giant bag of stinky wind that reminds me of a fart.

Meghan McCain always sounds and smells just like a

Snarkalicious January 19, 2010 at 5:16 pm

Chuck Grassley could have put that whole thing in one tweet.

SayItWithWookies January 19, 2010 at 5:23 pm

GWU, that notorious haven of GOP groupthink, strikes again. So um — was this GWU exactly, or some sort of CPAC Lite that was renting out the space?

Decker January 19, 2010 at 5:24 pm

everyone but am disappointed at the resulting controversy nonetheless.

I didn’t know she spoke such fluent Palinese.

I’m disappointed; I really was hoping to hear her lecture: “The Marxian conception of the proletarian vanguard in 20th Century political theory: It Lifts and Separates!”

Sussemilch January 19, 2010 at 5:30 pm

Maybe they discovered that she doesn’t actually do anything but blog about herself.

Hedley Lamar January 19, 2010 at 5:34 pm

Why does she always need a follow-up tweet to make sense of the original twat?

Lionel Hutz Esq. January 19, 2010 at 5:39 pm

You don’t say “:(” in twitter speak. The sad is not allowed on twitter.

grevillea January 19, 2010 at 5:45 pm

As a ghey, I feel a duty to share an insight with Meggles. You can’t assume people dislike you because you’re gay(-supportive). Usually it’s just because they’ve realised you’re a shit.

gjdodger January 19, 2010 at 5:49 pm

We R in yr U disnvitn yr tits.

[re=497113]Decker[/re]: That’s twitspeak for bullshit.

rikitikitavi January 19, 2010 at 5:51 pm

[re=497111]SayItWithWookies[/re]: Actually, from the Hatchet:

Meghan McCain, daughter of the former Republican presidential candidate, Sen. John McCain, will be the keynote speaker of Allied in Pride’s “Marriage Equality Week.”

So Allied in Pride uninvited her because of her support of gay marriage. Something here simply DOES NOT MAKE SENSE.

Oh hell to the no January 19, 2010 at 6:00 pm

[re=497151]rikitikitavi[/re]: No, it makes perfect sense since it is coming from Meghan McCain. If it was from a lot of other people, I’d be royally confused though.

chascates January 19, 2010 at 6:08 pm

Meghan, just get a life! Volunteer, go to grad school, or get some drugs from your mom but leave us in peace!

Fuzzy Dunlop January 19, 2010 at 6:27 pm

No, no, see, the thing was presented by Allied in Pride, but cosponsored by the College Republicans – until they found out that she was going to be talking about gay rights, which is when they pulled their funding. So now Allied in Pride can’t afford her.

… Whomps.

NYC prof January 19, 2010 at 6:32 pm

It’s the GWU College Republicans that are withdrawing their support of her: http://gwrepublicans.org/2010/01/press-release-college-republicans-do-not-support-and-will-not-co-sponsor-meghan-mccain’s-visit-to-gw-for-marriage-equality-wee/

For some reason they invited her (knowing her pro-gay-marriage position) to “Marriage Equality Week” and were shocked to find out she actually planned to speak about marriage equality. ??? Not sure why the republicans would be involved in marriage equality week anyway.

and the extra special slam at the end of the press release: “Ms. McCain’s views on marriage equality align with neither the Republican Party nor her father’s personal stance. Though we fully supported John McCain’s candidacy for President, we feel that Meghan McCain’s last name is not near as important as the message she advocates.”
(I think that should be “nearLY.” Sigh. Those wacky Republicans and their language freedoms)

SayItWithWookies January 19, 2010 at 6:45 pm

And here’s something from the Hatchet saying essentially that the event sponsors didn’t tell the College Republicans that it was for Marriage Equality Week — or something. Anyway, as usual per Republicans, they were happiest when ignorant, and got all uptight when confronted with knowledge.

imissopus January 19, 2010 at 6:51 pm

A bunch of college students UNinvited the party-hearty, big-titted, sex-starved blonde girl with such low self-esteem she seems to need constant attention and validation? That’s got to be a first.

Oh wait, they are Republicans. Carry on.

Long Form Def Certificate January 19, 2010 at 6:59 pm

Meghan can key my note.

AnglRdr January 19, 2010 at 7:12 pm

Well, hell’s bells. This is an issue she’s to the left of BHO.

I just cannot hate her like I used to.

lawrenceofthedesert January 19, 2010 at 7:27 pm

“Uninvited” would have been so much more interesting a song for Peaches and Herb than “Reunited.” Meghan and Jonah Goldberg are sort of the new wingnut Peaches & Herb, come to think of it — I can picture their duet on “Love Is Strange.”

Alaska Girl January 19, 2010 at 7:30 pm

Mmmmmmmmmmm another fine Republican whine.

Katydid January 19, 2010 at 7:50 pm

Yo! All you commies who work in DC stealin’ mah freedoms. What up? What goes on at GWU? Is it a rightwing school?

plowman January 19, 2010 at 8:23 pm

Baby, I feel your pain…

rocktonsammy January 19, 2010 at 8:31 pm

Someone needs a hug.

Bright side, at least you’re not Sarah Palin’s daughter.

Jukesgrrl January 19, 2010 at 9:51 pm

Geez, horse-country couples in funny clothes can sneak into State Dinners, but Megs McCabe can’t get into an event at a university that presumably enjoys the product her mother is famous for? Just show up, you twit. Oh, what’s that, you aren’t going to get PAID. Well then. You ARE a Republican.

Darkness January 19, 2010 at 10:22 pm

Is it insufficiently snarky to simply ask: why was she invited at all? What is this with failed republicans haunting our dreams and waking moments? Is there any, I mean ANY precedent for this? Or is it more symptom of the idiots rule news cycle we now live under.

Darkness January 19, 2010 at 10:24 pm

What is this emoticon ” : ( ” ?

“I haz a sad cuz I have as much hair on my head as my chin?”

Potater January 20, 2010 at 2:12 am

This is like Dave Matthews Band canceling on your rush party.
