The Super-Conservative King Family Member Hates Harry Reid!

by Jim Newell  2:57 pm January 13, 2010

Although Fox News can’t be sure that’s what she was saying, it was hard to decipher all of the mumbly-jumbly black talk. [Fox News]

Stop this Mumbo Jumbo at once!

bitchincamaro January 13, 2010 at 3:03 pm

MLK’s niece? Fox’s investigative skillz suck horse balls.

Sharkey January 13, 2010 at 3:06 pm

I has a sad outrage, also.

Come here a minute January 13, 2010 at 3:08 pm

Fox News found its Black Friend. IMPEACH!

RoscoePColtraine January 13, 2010 at 3:08 pm

Anyone remotely related to MLK is hereby declared a pundit-we-should-listen-to on matters of race.

Hey, the principle applies to Liz Cheney.

FREE MUMIA!!!!11!

Long Form Def Certificate January 13, 2010 at 3:09 pm

Shirt-tail relatives FTW!

SayItWithWookies January 13, 2010 at 3:10 pm

I will never learn.

Hooray For Anything January 13, 2010 at 3:10 pm

And, hey Fox, way to try and keep this story alive for a few more days. I’m sure they’re making the one black person who works at FOX call up all of their other black friends to see if they can say anything bad about Harry Reid and then run a story on it just to keep the story alive

Paterlanger January 13, 2010 at 3:11 pm

Clearly a keen grasp of realpolitik isn’t something that gets passed along genetically.

Joshua Norton January 13, 2010 at 3:12 pm

Fox’s investigative skillz suck horse balls.

They’re just lucky that their viewers have a selective form of Alzheimer’s that causes some things; Sharpton, Gore, The Bush Years, spelling, to always be new to them.

Ducksworthy January 13, 2010 at 3:13 pm

[re=493944]bitchincamaro[/re]: Actually his niece’s room mate twice removed.

Guppy06 January 13, 2010 at 3:15 pm

[re=493947]RoscoePColtraine[/re]: Hey, it’s the same principle that’s been keeping the Kenney clan going for decades!

Guppy06 January 13, 2010 at 3:15 pm

Gah, “Kennedy”

Extemporanus January 13, 2010 at 3:16 pm

Oh Editor, I still speak Negro dialect.

AnnieGetYourFun January 13, 2010 at 3:17 pm

I actually said the same thing that Harry Reid said, many times, only I didn’t use the word “Negro”, because I don’t want to sound like a 60 year-old white dude. I think I said, “He doesn’t speak in any of the black dialects unless he is code-switching, which is common among people who live sandwiched between two cultures.” I guess Reid’s comment was pithier.

It’s just so cute when Republicans get mad on behalf of teh blacks.

Rosie Scenario January 13, 2010 at 3:18 pm

Fox should be able to prolong this until Monday, Jan. 18. Finally a use for the MLK holiday. Fox has been trying to do the day appropriate honor and now is their chance. Expect a very special episode featuring Sarah Palin. Remember that she and Todd know all about racial bigotry, first hand. Also.

stew January 13, 2010 at 3:18 pm

Does nieceypoo agree with this (i.e. Devil punishes black people for duh Voodoo)?

[re=493953]Joshua Norton[/re]: The Fox viewers just know that, if Fox tells them something that contradicts what they remember, their memory must be faulty, and quickly rewire their brains to adjust to the new past reality. They know that we have always been at war with Eastasia.

hedgehog January 13, 2010 at 3:21 pm

Harry Reid’s comment: Not only was it authentic frontier gibberish, but it expresses a courage little seen in this day and age!

Extemporanus January 13, 2010 at 3:22 pm

Writing the headline in Spanglish makes Jim Newel the worst racist of all time.

Gopherit January 13, 2010 at 3:22 pm

How the hell did a relative of MLK join the republican party? Was she adopted? Was she dropped as a child?

And if this is what sinks Reid as Majority Leader, and not, you know, his piss-poor excuse for leadership, then….well, I guess that will be okay, too. Just go, Harry.

germansteel January 13, 2010 at 3:23 pm

No matter how you arrange it – “sadly outrageous” or “outrageously sad” – those words together are incongruous. Sadly so or outrageously so, I can’t decide, but perhaps this is the Negro Dialect we have been warned about.

RoscoePColtraine January 13, 2010 at 3:23 pm

[re=493957]Guppy06[/re]: True, dat. Especially with the Kennedy’s who aren’t involved in situations with “dates” that turned into a he said / she said. And the District Attorney’s office.

Bearbloke January 13, 2010 at 3:23 pm

[re=493952]Paterlanger[/re]: Alas, sometimes it does – but just to the wrong people, Mate…

Although I know nothing of the trials and traumas of the King family, I’d think that someone over the past 40 years of Negro Black Afro- African-American political empowerment would have leveraged the Top-Shelf family legacy to run for congress or something, rather than fade into the historical background only to be half-remembered on MLK day, if that…

bitchincamaro January 13, 2010 at 3:24 pm

[re=493964]stew[/re]: “Napoleon the third, or whatever.” Ass cancer for eternity would be too mild a punishment for Robertson.

TGY January 13, 2010 at 3:28 pm

It’s hard to channel MLK Jr., sometimes.

23 Skidoo January 13, 2010 at 3:31 pm

Hey Fox News, one of my sources who goes by “Dark Helmet” has a comment from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s father’s brother’s nephew’s cousin’s former roommate.

RoscoePColtraine January 13, 2010 at 3:32 pm

If she has a problem with Reid’s use of the word “negro,” can somebody show her a transcript from one of her uncle’s speeches?

gurukalehuru January 13, 2010 at 3:44 pm

HaHa, all this talk reminds me of a joke I heard many years ago.
Why do black people wear baggy trousers?
Because they’re (their, but see, when you’re speaking those are the same word)knee grows!

I guess I’m a racist.

lawrenceofthedesert January 13, 2010 at 3:49 pm

Admit it, Fox, it was Michael Steele in drag that you talked to.

Hooray For Anything January 13, 2010 at 3:56 pm

[re=493963]Rosie Scenario[/re]: Don’t forget the hour-long special tribute to those brave Conservatives who fought accusations of being racist for either saying or defending somebody who said something racist. It’ll all end with a montage set to the strains of Michael Jackson’s “You Are Not Alone” of a crying Rush, Trent Lott, and Orly Taitz being consoled by Britt Hume and Michael Steele.

the problem child January 13, 2010 at 3:56 pm

“If Michael Steele or any other conservative had said anything like it, the remarks would be labeled racist and plastered over every available news outlet,” Alveda King said in a statement released Tuesday.

Actually, if Michael Steele, a man known for slipping into “negro dialect” when he wants to said it, it would be called realistic, and it would certainly be news, if only for that reason. Of course, Steele is jealous of the lighter skin, so he would never say half of the supposedly objectionable statement.

Humpback January 13, 2010 at 4:03 pm

MLK’s neice is 167% African-American.

bopumofu January 13, 2010 at 4:09 pm

I don’t see this working for the Republicans.

Tourettesorist January 13, 2010 at 4:13 pm

Can we at least all agree that Harry Reid is and always has been a total dickweed?

Long Form Def Certificate January 13, 2010 at 4:31 pm

[re=494034]Humpback[/re]: Is this like a Twins situation, or something? Multiple fathers, genes taken from Miles David, Redd Foxx, Medgar Evers, Langston Hughes, & Richard Wright, with Hunter Thompson for seasoning?

June Cleaver 2.0 January 13, 2010 at 5:16 pm

Fox “News” dot com sucks.

Boo Boo Hoff January 13, 2010 at 5:21 pm

Excuse me, m’am. I speak Jive.

JoeMac January 13, 2010 at 5:59 pm

Did the Fox News give this much coverage to W’s niece who likes to snort coke and steal oxycontin? (I don’t believe the oxycontin was taken from Rush’s stash). Can we assume she is an expert on dope? Was the brown acid really bad?

Humpback January 13, 2010 at 6:08 pm

[re=494074]Long Form Def Certificate[/re]: No, just FOX math.

problemwithcaring January 13, 2010 at 6:57 pm

WTF is black dialects? Help me White Peoples!

glamourdammerung January 13, 2010 at 9:19 pm

So, some asshole who had a relative get shot for the gall of thinking black folks were equal to white folks thinks Reid is a prick for pointing out that some white folks are racist?

I am not sure why anyone should care what an asshole that is obviously stupid as well seems to think about anything.

snoidoid January 14, 2010 at 10:46 am
