Harold Ford Junior Gay-Marries Gay Marriage

by Jim Newell

HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA: Harold Ford Junior, who voted for a constitutional ban on gay marriage while representing Tennessee in the House, is of course now an avid and lifetime supporter of both gay marriage AND civil unions, whatever that means? “I love you youze fags,” Ford told New York voters today. It goes to show that there are very rich gays, too.

The irony is that if we didn’t have net neutrality, I’d never see this video.

Suck on that, Harold.

bitchincamaro January 11, 2010 at 12:57 pm

He certainly has a way with white people words and light skin.

mumblyjoe January 11, 2010 at 12:57 pm

I mean, there’s is something to be said for shameless, unprincipled political chameleons: pandering to one’s base without regard to any moral stances of your own is LITERALLY the best way to represent that “will of the people” thing. And therefore, I don’t think it’s overstating things in the slightest to say that it this sort of shameless, dirty, unprincipled pandering is the greatest democratic impulse there is.

red sky January 11, 2010 at 12:58 pm

Does this carpetbagger think he can come into my state, live here a year or two and just run for Senate, … oh, wait, yeah,… we keep electing people doing that, we really got a stop that. That being said I don’t see how Kirsten can hope to not lose in a primary unless Obama/Schummer promised her no one of substance would be allowed to run against her for her Health Care/Whatever vote.

Hon. Jewington Analplay January 11, 2010 at 12:58 pm

Apparently, ol’ Bill Clinton “persuaded” him on the whole gay-stuff thing. He really is very persuasive.

OReillysVibrator January 11, 2010 at 12:59 pm

Remember when people called him a Democrat In Name Only? Silly us, the banker’s latest errand boy-wannabe (the errand being to wear his empty suit to Congress to siphon task money once Wall Street’s bets go bad again) is really a Politician In Name Only.

Chickensmack January 11, 2010 at 1:00 pm

I’m guessing he’s changed his opinion several time since January 11, 2009.

Canmon (the Inadequate) January 11, 2010 at 1:03 pm

It makes a nice change that politicians are now supporting gay marriage for cynical political reasons.

Chickensmack January 11, 2010 at 1:03 pm

[re=492302]red sky[/re]: I find it amusing that you can’t help resist the charms of southerners. And by “charms” I mean “AHAHAHAHA you got tooked again, motherfucker.”

OReillysVibrator January 11, 2010 at 1:03 pm

“I’m thrilled to be joining the executive team at Merrill Lynch,” said Mr. Ford. “For generations, the Merrill Lynch brand has represented the path to economic opportunity for millions of Americans and citizens the world over. It’s a great tradition that I look forward to helping build on during my tenure with the firm.”

Please, give this man some power!

homotron January 11, 2010 at 1:03 pm

Harold Ford Jr. has been fighting for gay marriage for years in his role as vice chairman of Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

Buzz Feedback January 11, 2010 at 1:07 pm

Come on. Everybody knows teh blackz don’t like gay marriage. Even the light-skinned, non-Negro dialect ones.

Lascauxcaveman January 11, 2010 at 1:08 pm

“I’m the Brown Mitt Romney. Just tell me what you want me to be, I’ll be it.”

Can we please release a raft of polling that indicates New Yorkers are strongly in favor of Panda fucking?

BigDupa January 11, 2010 at 1:11 pm

Where does he stand on mulatto marriage?

gurukalehuru January 11, 2010 at 1:15 pm

He’s not as black as Blackojevich.

progressiveinga January 11, 2010 at 1:16 pm

“Hey Harold, I’m gay. Call me….”

Zadig January 11, 2010 at 1:18 pm

We here in Memphis are so proud of our Ford family. [/single tear]

SmutBoffin January 11, 2010 at 1:20 pm

Harold was for walrus auto-fellatio before he was against it. Another flip-flop*!

*Haha, remember that “flip-flop” shit from ’04? Sucked hard.

RoscoePColtraine January 11, 2010 at 1:21 pm

You know, people, there is this thing called “evolution.” Sometimes it takes a while for a politician to evolve and get comfortable with a progressive, blindingly, obviously fair and right position to hold. And sometimes, though not always, this evolution results in a random mutation where “balls” come to be where they weren’t before.

Oh hell to the no January 11, 2010 at 1:23 pm

Elwin Tinklenberg, the man who almost beat Bachmann went from socially conservative to socially liberal just for the special occasion of losing to that batshit crazy lady. But he’s white, also.

KilgoreTrout_XL January 11, 2010 at 1:25 pm

Good move- Fox News recently told me that NYC was 234% gay. Then it tried to sell me a camo snuggie.

Red Zeppelin January 11, 2010 at 1:26 pm

And he has no Negro dialect unless he wants to!

Hey Jim, what about the sexy sexytime story from Northern Ireland?

SmutBoffin January 11, 2010 at 1:29 pm

[re=492337]KilgoreTrout_XL[/re]: FOXNews is all about equality for robot lovers nowadays. Progress!

red sky January 11, 2010 at 1:33 pm

[re=492310]Chickensmack[/re]: You mean southerners like RFK (Boston) and Hillary (Chicago), not sure I catch your point, as for Ford, he doesn’t have a chance in NY.

SayItWithWookies January 11, 2010 at 1:35 pm

He’s also straight until he walks into a gay bar — and that’s been his policy for years.

S.Luggo January 11, 2010 at 1:35 pm
norbizness January 11, 2010 at 1:38 pm

He’s missing his Mets hat, Yankees pennant, and Islanders underwear.

Ducksworthy January 11, 2010 at 1:39 pm

[re=492304]Hon. Jewington Analplay[/re]: Please. That raises some very disturbing images.

TGY January 11, 2010 at 1:43 pm

[re=492323]gurukalehuru[/re]: True. Rod is so black, he’s purple.

ella January 11, 2010 at 1:43 pm

What’s up with the “private video” stuff?

Lascauxcaveman January 11, 2010 at 1:44 pm

[re=492340]SmutBoffin[/re]: OK, that’s pretty funny, in a humanity-is-completely-doomed kinda way.

bitchincamaro January 11, 2010 at 1:46 pm

[re=492337]KilgoreTrout_XL[/re]: I’d buy the former before I’d buy the latter. Why do you think they call it Queens?

WadISay January 11, 2010 at 1:46 pm

I am to the point where, if people finally come around to doing the right thing in the name of craven opportunism, I am sort of OK with it. As long as he doesn’t visit Uganda any time soon.

Larry McAwful January 11, 2010 at 1:47 pm

Harold Ford could some day be the first black president of the United States that Joe Scarborough likes, so be nice.

Accordion-o-rama January 11, 2010 at 1:47 pm

[re=492340]SmutBoffin[/re]: Bleah! Looks like Blagojevich.

Come here a minute January 11, 2010 at 1:49 pm

How many gay abortions does Ford have to have/perform to win this race? He will do them!

donner_froh January 11, 2010 at 1:52 pm

[re=492333]Oh hell to the no[/re]: Elwin Tinklenberg existed before that election? I thought he was sprung fully formed from Zeus’s forehead or something.

[re=492298]ManchuCandidate[/re]: Rumor has it down in Elvisland that Junior’s been “sucking on that” for a long time now. But it’s only a rumor, people!

mumblyjoe January 11, 2010 at 1:58 pm

I also hear he likes to put it in young white ladies, which I think is kind of rad.

JMP January 11, 2010 at 1:58 pm

[re=492368]queeraselvis v 2.0[/re]: But how does that fit the rumors of his sexing up the white ladies at the Playboy mansion?

Ducksworthy January 11, 2010 at 2:01 pm

[re=492372]JMP[/re]: All of the above is also true. Also. Kinda like Tiger.

queeraselvis v 2.0 January 11, 2010 at 2:08 pm

[re=492372]JMP[/re]: Publicity stunt. I mean, the man has more beards than Ross Douthat. Or so goes the rumor.

Jumping Jim January 11, 2010 at 2:20 pm

Later he was heard to say, “Where the white men at?”

Katydid January 11, 2010 at 2:28 pm

Meh, it’s no publicity stunt. Scientists need to study Ford. His personal journey is an evolution on meth. He was not merely against abortion and teh gay marriage.

In 2006, writing in Time magazine, Ta-Nehisi Coates notes that Ford’s campaign,

“had no problem deploying the vague rhetoric of family, in hopes of demonstrating that a Democrat could be staunch in discriminating against gays. Ultimately Ford’s hope was to build a rainbow coalition, one that would unite rednecks and the ghetto in mutual homophobia.”

And then there’s this:

The Memphis Flyer wrote:

“Beyond the convenient descriptors of race or party label, there was in fact not much in the way of ideological difference to distinguish between [Republican Bob] Corker and Ford. Whatever their private convictions, both had progressively moved from their party’s moderate wings to positions that were clearly right of center.

“Both candidates, formerly pro-choice on abortion, now described themselves as pro-life. Both opposed gay marriage. Both favored an extension of the Bush tax cuts, opposed immediate troops withdrawals from Iraq, and supported the president on the so-called ‘torture’ bill. Their differences even on issues like tort reform and Social Security were even being fudged.”

http://www.bestcyrano.org/gFordStopSupportingBlackFaces.htm

So to anyone who says Ford is a political opportunist, I say to you, you’re the type of person who would say Ford joined Merrill simply to make money.

Zadig January 11, 2010 at 2:57 pm

[re=492433]SmutBoffin[/re]: This is true. Nerds have a certain enthusiasm for robotics, less so for the Uncanny Valley.

Speaking as one of the great unwashed mass of fags, I volunteer to help Ford explorethis new-found, delicious, mocha-tinted love.

Rep. Harold Ford, Jr. (D-TN):

“I do not support the decision today reached by the New Jersey Supreme Court regarding gay marriage. I oppose gay marriage, and have voted twice in Congress to amend the United States Constitution to prohibit same-sex marriage. This November there’s a referendum on the Tennessee ballot to ban same-sex marriage – I am voting for it.”

queeraselvis v 2.0 January 11, 2010 at 3:36 pm

WHY IS HE EVEN RUNNING

MzNicky January 11, 2010 at 4:17 pm

Why can’t I get the dang video thing to play? Is there a secret code or something?

DangerousLiberal January 11, 2010 at 5:50 pm

[re=492302]red sky[/re]: How can you call a black southerner a carpetbagger? I call racism, and think you should resign your post as majority leader of the majority of Loyal and Ancient Elks, or whatever.

Also, Harold Ford Jr. is an asshat. It’s Monday at 6:00, and I needed to use that word today. It’s a New Year’s resolution.

hard2by4 January 11, 2010 at 7:46 pm

What happened to this video when I click on it youtube tells me it’s private and I need an invite !!!

BTW you all these posts are the most entertaining on the net. You all rock.

[re=492575]MzNicky[/re],[re=492357]ella[/re], [re=492742]hard2by4[/re]: Embedded video don’t woik. But this should be the same thing. Harold Ford Jr. is an asshat.

Witness this straightforward clarification of his position: “Maybe in the language, but I’m a believer that benefits should flow to same-sex partners. and if indeed the fiction of the language, the title should be changed, much like Chuck Schumer who changed his mind on it, and Bill Clinton, who’s evolved.”

At least half those words don’t mean what he thinks they mean.
