Schwarzenegger Is Cynical About Sarah Palin’s Commitment To Roguery

by Juli Weiner

California’s governor Arnold Schwarzenegger insulted an unemployed private citizen named Sarah Palin during his speech in Copenhagen today. Ms. Palin, a freelance writer who has recently gotten a few opinion pieces published and thinks she might be able to leverage this into a column for the Daily Beast, does not believe in global warming. Well! This is simply unacceptable, coming from the non-professional Alaskan memoirist.

Schwarzenegger’s like, “You have to ask: what was she trying to accomplish? Is she really interested in this subject or is she interested in her career and in winning the [Republican] nomination [for President]? You have to take all these things with a grain of salt.”

Everyone now mail one grain of salt, contained in an envelope, to Sarah Palin’s house. What melts snow?! Global warming.

Boy Cahleefoyneeya, you sure can pick ‘em.

bureaucrap December 15, 2009 at 9:19 am

Sarah Palin is insufficiently dedicated to capturing and killing Sarah Connor.

Larry McAwful December 15, 2009 at 9:22 am

Well, as long as denying the science behind global warming is something that can help you win the Republican presidential nomination, I think I’m going to take her positions with more than a grain of salt. The whole damned party’s positions, for that matter.

Paterlanger December 15, 2009 at 9:22 am

Is it possible that you and the Governator are making these suggestions about grains of salt merely to drive business toward California’s burgeoning “Salt Boutique” markets? I mean, does Arnold really care about the Gover’s objective level of ignorance or his he just trying to sell some fancy Sel de Mer Gros?

Juli Weiner December 15, 2009 at 9:23 am

I have banned the person talking about Christmas sales. No talking about Christmas sales allowed.

And now I can enjoy their gifts while trapped in a can!!

charlesdegoal December 15, 2009 at 9:24 am

He probably said that tongue-in-cheek. The question is whether global warming, like god or germs, for instance, really cares whether anyone believes in it or not.

(a): Got some blocking to work out at teh Wonkett, I see.

Good work, Juli. I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who’s taking the War on Christmas seriously. We’ll win this thing yet!

Potater December 15, 2009 at 9:26 am

[re=478362]Juli Weiner[/re]: Well done, Juli. No mentions of The Christian Winter Holiday allowed on our Wonkette. Just like The Scottish Play.

But can we really trust the Arnold here? He was already a proactive advocate of global cooling in the worst big-budget film ever made.

“What killed the Dinosaurs? The ICE age!”

I sense a little jealously from the Austrian who will NEVER BECOME PRESIDENT LIKE SARAH!

[re=478362]Juli Weiner[/re]: Thank you!

WarAndG December 15, 2009 at 9:37 am

Ahnuld, why do you not find Sarah’s position on “Drill Baby Drill” appealing? Almost every suburban male in your demographic would love to explore that position as deeply as possible. Gay?

After global climate change has reduced Alaska to the size of Rhode Island, The Gov’Nor and her family will be out there on an ice flow with the last remaining polar bear. Justice will be done! You Betcha!

Arnold is just pissed at Sarah because HE’s supposed to be “the one with the funny accent that everybody imitates.”

It’s all well and good to say that you’re enough of a writer to make The Daily Beast, Sarah, but you’ll still have to show that you can meet standards.

One problem with the wielding of the BanHammer is it makes most of the subsequent comments very confusing. It’s either that, or my breakfast whisky…

[re=478385]WarAndG[/re]: I’m somewhat surprised to see the Arnold criticizing Sarah, when the McCain-Palin foreign policy was simply “To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women.”

Can you at least wait until you’re out of office, fuckface? You have another budget to pass, Goobernator, and you’ve managed to do the one thing that would make you even more unpopular with the Republican base. You know, like the ones in the Legislature who like doing the opposite of whatever you ask just to piss you off?

One of these days, California is totally going to fall into the ocean.

Paul Tardy December 15, 2009 at 12:38 pm

A Palin presidency will guarantee Alaska stays in the Union for another 4 years, that’s good enought for me.

Pobody is nerfect, as Hopey’s administration proves daily. All in all though, the Governator has been a decent governor.

Sorry for lack of snark. Perhaps I’m being ubersatirical by being completely serious.

dennisintn December 15, 2009 at 3:07 pm

palin isn’t denying that the earth goes through warm and old cycles. she just hasn’t heard or read any information that confirms that human aactivity has any influence on the cycles.

the governator is probably jealous of palin because while he’s in charge of a financial trainwreck and doesn’t have any solutions for the problems, palin, during her 2 l/2 years as governor she put politicians, demo. and repub. in jail, renegotiated the royalties on oil and gas producers so alaska doesn’t have to have a state salestax, or state payroll tax, and every alaskan gets a generous check from the state every year, and when palin left the office the alaska permanent trust fund had a balance over $30 Billion dollars. all in all, palin hasn’t done too badly being as dumb, moronic, uneducated, and unsophisticated as the left wing media would have us believe.

[re=478866]dennisintn[/re]: Surprising that the conservative media hasn’t caught on to how much federal tax money goes to support Alaska.

Obviously she skipped the science articles in “all of them that were in front of me”. Unless, of course you are actually talking about old cycles. I’ve seen no evidence for those in any part of the paper.

engulfedinflames December 15, 2009 at 4:02 pm

[re=478866]dennisintn[/re]: So socialism is good? I’m confused. Also, this “left wing media” of which you speak, does that include General Electric?

Also, also and the horse you rode in on, also.

JMP December 15, 2009 at 4:35 pm

[re=478866]dennisintn[/re]: Look, you are probably too stupid to understand this, being a fan of the quitter and all, but here goes:

In English; and indeed, all Latin-based languages; we have something we call “capital letters”. It is appropriate to use these for the first letter in every sentence, and for proper nouns; these are nouns that refer to a specific person, place or thing by name, such as Palin “Earth and Alaskan. You can type these by pressing the “shift” button at the same time you hit the letter than needs to be capitalized; but please, don’t do this for every single letter, as many of your comrades tend to do.

You people are being very unfair to poor [D]ennisintn. You have to read his initial statement more carefully: “[Palin] just hasn’t HEARD or READ any information that confirms that human aactivity has any influence on the cycles.” [Block caps added.]

Given that the former Governor of Alaska is (1) effectively deaf (or at least, “deaf to reason”); and (2) cannot read (or at least, is functionally illiterate in that “Small Town Beauty Queen” way), [D]ennis’s statement is both accurate, and makes sense.

So stop picking on the little lad.

([D]ennis: I’ve got your back here, buddy. I’m here to help.)

[re=479006]JMP[/re]: Oh, and I figured the capitalization thingie is a tribute to e.e. cummings.

Or perhaps Archy and Mehitabel:

expression is the need of my soul
i was once a vers libre bard
but i died and my soul went into the body of a cockroach
it has given me a new outlook upon life
i see things from the under side now
thank you for the apple peelings in the wastepaper basket
but your paste is getting so stale i cant eat it
there is a cat here called mehitabel i wish you would have
removed she nearly ate me the other night why dont she
catch rats that is what she is supposed to be fore
there is a rat here she should get without delay

Same thing, really.
