VERY HILARIOUS THINGS

Look, It’s Ironical, Because Eliot Spitzer Is Crazy-Lacking In Ethics!

by Jim Newell

Oh ho ho, gotcha! Yes, thats’ right, gotcha, Eliot Spitzer, but nice try! See it’s funny, because he is speaking at an ethics center, and he has no ethics whatsoever, hahahahah, it is the funniest joke of all time.

Eliot Spitzer, the disgraced New York governor who resigned amid a prostitution scandal, will give a lecture this afternoon at an ethics center at Harvard University.

“He’s not speaking about ethics. He’s here to talk about a research project we’re launching on institutional corruption,” said Lawrence Lessig, director of Harvard’s Safra Foundation Center for Ethics. “(Spitzer) may be the most influential living prosecutor on these issues, so adding his perspective seems valuable.”

The talk is titled, “From Ayn Rand to Ken Feinberg: How Quickly the Paradigm Shifts. What Should Be the Rationale for Government Participation in the Market?” All tickets are gone for the free event, according to Harvard’s website.

See, it could be interesting and enlightening to hear Eliot Spitzer discuss this very timely topic about which he knows plenty, perhaps even more than most. But the foundation has “Ethics” in its title, and one time Eliot Spitzer had sex with a prostitute, so it’s really just WACKY and terribly controversial to all non-pagans. ELIOT SPITZER + THE WORD “ETHICS” = WHAAA? WHAT WAS LESSIG EVEN THINKING??

Ironicalogical.

“Always, and I can’t stress this enough, always pay the hooker in cash. And never, ever accept any hooker below the three whore diamond level.”

Ayn Rand? First Mark Sanford now Eliot Spitzer. A = Fuck ?

Lessig did not for a second ,think.

OK, sorry. It’s out of my system now.

“He’s here to talk about a research project we’re launching on institutional corruption,”

Because, you know, the Emperor’s Club is pretty damned corrupt, what with charging full retail and not keeping the identities of their clients secret. In contrast, say, to Swiss banks, those models of rectitude.

Oh! I typed “rectitude” I’m sooooo naughty! See! I did it again.

almost as ironic as having a former exec from Goldman Sachs running the Treasury Dept.

He & Peggy Noonan can co-host a session on fame-whoring also.

Okay, trafficking with prostitutes is illegal. Cheating on your wife is immoral. Letting Wall Street firms buy their way out of real penalties for cheating by paying huge fines was terrible, because they were making so much money that the fines were like rounding errors.

Bad on law, bad on morals, bad on policy.

But otherwise, no problem!

Well, didn’t O.J. get to give a lecture at Oxford…?

Mr Blifil November 12, 2009 at 4:15 pm

Tickets are free, that means he gets no piece of the gate, which means no loose change to spend on whores at the end of the night. I guess he’ll just have to settle for banging starry-eyed “pre-Law” co-eds.

Think Elliott has anything on Lessig? I understood Spitzer had parties- not just individual screwings. But really who cares? It is not like Harvard teaches ethics- getting a Harvard MBA just means you can get more money for screwing over more people.

JMP November 12, 2009 at 4:16 pm

And they missed the greater irony, giving a speech at ethics center using the name of “Ayn Rand”, who hated the very idea of ethics, in the title.

Harvard has a sex center?

ph7 November 12, 2009 at 4:23 pm

Who hasn’t had sex with a prostitute? Wasn’t wearing socks during coitus the ethical breach here?

MOG November 12, 2009 at 4:26 pm

I think “Harvard and Ethics” in the same sentence is equally funny. They taught a course on corporate lying in the 80′s.

Extemporanus November 12, 2009 at 4:40 pm

[re=457245]ph7[/re]: The ethical breach wasn’t that he wore socks, but that those socks were in fact lint and grass-covered used condoms sent to him by some woman in Idaho.

How many whore diamonds would Ayn Rand get?

joezoo November 12, 2009 at 5:02 pm

Kind of like how the “conservative” party is full of Republicans. So ironical!

Oh those unethical Democrats! Of course, it’s worth noting that prosecutors only outed Spitzer once he started talking about regulating derivatives trading. Meanwhile, the D.C. Madame’s client list remains sequestered by investigators, and David Vitter’s still in Congress. Welcome to the bizarre world of Amerikkkan political morality.

Georgia Burning November 12, 2009 at 6:11 pm

Just call it a speech on how to be a more profitable whore. MBA students who scalp the free tickets get extra credit.

Jim Newell November 12, 2009 at 6:13 pm

[re=457401]Atlas Spanked[/re]: Yeah, it was great timing, like right when Bear Stearns was crashing. Coincidence! I feel bad for even covering it.

Downtheroadapiece November 12, 2009 at 7:27 pm

What is it with Uni’s and ethics goofiness? Right after the accounting scandals that brought down some of the big accounting firms in the early aughts I had a Business Ethics course held in a classroom sponsored by Arthur Anderson. I bet that damn plaque is still on that door today.

Burn!

I have an idea. We give Spitzer a stable of his own and let him loose in the wilderness of crime and politics again.

Scooter November 13, 2009 at 5:57 am

Spitzer? But I heard he doesn’t even know her.

Zadig November 13, 2009 at 11:04 am

Ugh. Every news outlet that ran a story on this event afterward, talked about the whole “Personal Ethics =/= Government/Business Ethics” thing, and how the speech wasn’t about his sex scandal, and how it has no bearing on his expertise in this area. And all the stories agreed that Elliot Spitzer totally had important things to say that had nothing to do with banging hookers. And yet, these stories mention nothing of the actual content of the speech.

It’s just 800 words of “Spitzer banged a lady once, for money, and now he’s talking about business ethics, which is not the same as a sex scandal so WE WON’T TALK ABOUT THE SEX SCANDAL, RIGHT GUYS? Sexsexsex ETHICS! Wasn’t it great, that speech?”
