- The teevee shows Mad Men and 30 Rock LITERALLY WON the Emmy Awards last night. [New York Times]
- President Obama will visit the UN for the first time next week, as will, presumably, some very excited sixth graders from North Jersey. Both will be avoiding Ahmadinejad and Gaddafi. [Times Online]
- The jealous gossips of the SEC might make Bank of America and Merrill Lynch spill all the details about their initial tryst, even though normally this sort of thing is protected under attorney-client privilege and none of anyone else’s business anyway. [New York Times]
- The fellows from Brooklyn who perhaps intended to blow it up are in even bigger trouble now that police unearthed handwritten bombing cheat sheets. [WSJ]
- All the count-y countries are gearing up for the G20, which is being held in Pittsburgh, meaning Obama will have to convince the world’s leaders to follow his economic agenda after he has just forced them to come to Pittsburgh. [Reuters]
- David Paterson is committed to losing the race for governorship of New York despite Obama warning him that as eager as Paterson might be to suffer this public embarrassment, it will be bad for other people (like: the Democrats) too. [CNN]

Orly Taitz goes there:
“I will be seeking all means of redress available to me by law. I will be seeking Rule 11 discovery to prove that Obama is indeed illegitimate, my case was not frivolous and not only I don’t owe $10,000 in sanctions, but the defendants owe costs and my reasonable attorneys fees. These fees just went up significantly.”

Please cover Dame Noonington’s comment on Obama’s press blitz as “boorish”…. Please??
Obama doesn’t care about black governors.
Who else might be running for NY gov? Any major names?
Still no official Wonkette comment on Dame Peggy (Yes, I am that Peggy Noonan) Nooninghamton of Nooninghamtonshire, Valley of the Dolls’ comment that our man Barry is a boorish publicity whore, like Paris Hilton or something.
What gives?
[re=415077]ChernobylSoup v2[/re]: If Paterson backs out, Andrew Cuomo is in like a burglar.
[re=415077]ChernobylSoup v2[/re]:
Maybe a recent ex-governor decided he resigned a bit too quickly?
I’m hoping for once that the SEC acts like a John Deere Riding Mower and runs over the remains of Merril and BoA like a Brit Ad exec’s foot.
Wouldn’t it be cool if Ahmedinajad was greeted with a chorus of Allahu Akbar? Or maybe even a “you lie!”
Yes, it would.
Man, the bar at the U.N. is going to be smoking hawt next week.
Paterson will fold after he realizes he has no support apart from his inept aides.
gurukalehuru: Clearly Dame Pegeen’s peeps have long arms. Her taffeta must be ruffled.
Someone’s a little butthurt that they didn’t get invited to the G20.
“BARACK OBAMA DOES NOT CARE ABOUT BLACK PEOPLE” – Kanye Steele
[re=415075]Hart88[/re]: Orly’s fear of being thrown in the FEMA GULAG is just precious.
“Imma let you snark, but first, I just want you to know … Barack Obama hates Black Governors” There, fixed your Kanye mistype in the lede.
[re=415080]Terry[/re]: That would be fun. Personally, I think he did resign too soon. But Bill Clinton was my governor for twelve years, so there you go.
no one is so blind as he who will not see (i learned that from bono, so it must be true).
[re=415080]Terry[/re]: I would love that–his campaign might consist of ‘gee, remember me, I was trying to crack down on all the scoundrels on Wall Street, I don’t know, about six months before they completely destroyed the economy?!’ Not going to happen.
Apparently, it’s getting harder to find good terrorist recruits these days. I blame the educational system.
Geeze, Patterson. Where are the three-diamond whores and sultry Argentine minxes when you actually need them?
Hey, don’t forget to mention the ongoing Orly Taitz meltdown. Reading all of that this weekend has been a smorgasbord of schadenfreude.
[re=415091]slappypaddy[/re]: Three sages: Bono, Boehner, and Boner. So hard to tell them apart.
Darling Juli, I desire days of sexy-time with your phraseology. Much <3.
Patterson’s dedication to losing is only matched by the Mets.
The FBI listed the most horrific crimes perpetrated by these terrorists, amongst the most grevious was that Zazi skimped on the tahinni sauce when dispensing the falafels at his uncle’s food cart.
Upon retiring form the governership, Patterson will wind up shaking a cup of pencils on 5th Avenue asking the good people of NYC to held him out.
[re=415076]Anita Cocktail[/re]: Perchance they’ve lost the Nooningtonshire Secret Decoder Ring and it’s all too much gibberish to mock.
[re=415075]Hart88[/re]: O RLY doesn’t have a choice. She must fight on with all the bluster of a cartoon mouse confronting a cartoon lion. She doesn’t have $10K. Look at the bizarro clothes she wears. Obviously 2nd hand. Plus the Barbie toy makeup. She’s in it to win it cuz she ain’t got the cash.
Boring, repetitive stories about upper-class white people (Mad Men): shitloads of Emmys.
Compelling, ever-evolving stories about lower-class black people (The Wire): nothing, and not even a nomination in the major categories after its last season.
And when is Doogie Howser going to bring me the hors d’ouevres I was asking for?
[re=415105]norbizness[/re]: What is this thing called a teevee? And they give awards for it? How nice for them!
Is it illegal to have bomb cheat sheets if the same info is available in similar form on the internet? This case seems to hinge on some handwritten sheets of paper + a whole lot of circumstantial connect-the-dots. Obviously Justice hasn’t yet cleaned out the W horde of Regent U grads.
[re=415099]TGY[/re]: Much less than buttcheeks?
Yes, yes, David Paterson is being uppity and insubordinate. But the real question remains: did Paterson’s wife give Obama the stink-eye?
The Awl has a good piece on Paterson-Obama imbroglio:

[re=415077]ChernobylSoup v2[/re]: Say hello to Governor Giuliani!
[re=415075]Hart88[/re]: Glad that Oily copyrighted her rant. That way it can’t be stolen by the Disney Channel.
BTW: She wants to pursue “Rule 11″ discovery against Judge Land for calling her a frivolous skank. Should be yummy.
[re=415105]norbizness[/re]: I’m waiting for someone to explain to me why they have a reward category for reality TV and why “Flava of Love” hasn’t won it yet.
[re=415119]queeraselvis v 2.0[/re]: Must be my latent hoodrat gene kicking in, but when I read “did Paterson’s wife give Obama the stink-eye” it translates as “is Obama ass-fucking Paterson’s wife?” Because I love ass-fucking governor’s wives. Also.
[re=415075]Hart88[/re]: I notice that Orly’s “client,” Connie Rhodes, has sent a letter to the court saying she didn’t authorize the last motion that Orly filed, and indeed only found out about it from a news report.
Capt. Rhodes is now asking to withdraw the motion and dismiss Orly as her attorney, and is ready to be sent immediately to “Iraq, Afghanistan, somewhere, anywhere, just get me away from that crazy woman.” OK, I paraphrased that last bit, but only very slightly.

[re=415129]eclecticbrotha[/re]: They’re waiting to give his giant neck-clock a Lifetime Achievement Award.
[re=415077]ChernobylSoup v2[/re]: Caroline Kennedy.
[re=415142]Mahousu[/re]: Orly just wants her country* back.
*Czarist Russia
I’ll be in NYC right after this thing-I hope there are no residual problems- like all the 7 layer cake eaten from my favorite diner not too far from the UN. All of these world leaders-I guess 7 layer cake isn’t what they look for in NYC. Hey, what is the sandwich place in Pittsburgh- Parmienti’s?
[re=415129]eclecticbrotha[/re]: HA. No, I was referring to an earlier Wonkette post about Paterson having an affair, accompanied by a pic of Paterson’s wife looking all Medusa-meets-Madea at her hubby. Also, Barry would NOT hit that, except maybe with the back of a flathead shovel.
[re=415076]Anita Cocktail[/re]: Christ, everything is “boorish” to Nooningtonshireham. You could bring her tea brewed from angel tears in a gilded cup, and she would sigh about how things were so much more delicate when she was growing up.
Not that the bitch ever grew up. I believe that she was born a 60-year old WASP.
[re=415076]Anita Cocktail[/re]: I thought Nooningtonshire would be the first mug posted on Wonkette today. Let’s discuss her boorish behavior! Pretty please!
[re=415111]the problem child[/re]: We’ll talk. We’ll see.
News you can use: Send image files not text files, but unlike those sad Paklies at minimum alter them with Gimp. I think Uncle Fester has a bomb making book, I wonder if anything on those notes is more potent.
While I understand it’s very likely Patterson could lose reelection, I’m really put off by the casual “get out of the way” demand people are making to him. It reminds me a lot of what happened during the 2008 Democratic primaries which I abhorred. It’s one thing to have the opinion that he’s not the best candidate; it’s entirely another to to go all incredulous because a sitting governor doesn’t want to give up his seat at your beck and call.
