Obama Ad With Children To Take Over Liberal Blogs

by Jim Newell  2:30 pm September 18, 2009

Ah, well don’t we feel stupid, Barack Obama’s “fired up, ready to go” Civil War re-enactment at a packed University of Maryland Comcast Center yesterday was, in fact, just a music video shoot! This one-minute DNC ad “will air on national cable and in the DC area, as well as on 40 liberal blogs.” AD $$$ YOU SAY? Hmm, we better brush up on our bona fides… REPBULICANS SUCK. END EVERY WAR. BE GAY. Pleeeeease? [First Read]

Why would they pay you to run what you just posted for free?

SayItWithWookies September 18, 2009 at 2:40 pm

What’s with all these people yelling about how we don’t have healthcare? They should just be quiet — talking about it just emboldens our enemies.

Srsly, if all the closeted Repubs came out there’d be no one left in Congress to vote against substantive reform… aside from the Democrats.

Today, we are all librul blogs.

“On national cable and in the DC area,” since these are mutually exclusive political entities. If you live in DC, you’re not in “the nation” and therefore not an American. Because if you’re in DC, you’re most likely Black. Obama is Black, and lives in DC. Therefore Obama cannot be president.

Q.-fucking-E.D., libtards. What part don’t you understand?

I dunno, the tune just isn’t that catchy…

See that cult of personality mind control thing he did at the end? Reminds me of an old Steve Martin bit:

Now let’s repeat the non-conformists’ oath: I promise to be different! (audience repeats) I promise to be unique! (audience repeats) I promise not to repeat things other people say! (audience laughs, repeats) Good!

Eww. I’ve always hated pep rallies and group stink. Guess I’ll have to fight against health care reform now, just to be difernt.

Did I mention that after they played Obama’s speech at my kids school they all decided to start the day by singing “L’Internationale” instead of the pledge of allegiance? True story.

[re=414407]V572625694[/re]: “On national cable and in the DC area,”

As a former TV person, I can see a distinction between the two.

“National Cable” means the people placing ad are buying spots directly from the cable systems that carry the programming, as part of the cable company’s deal is they get so much airtime per hour to fill with ass they sell themselves, in addition the to advertising that comes packaged in the programming.

“…and in the DC area,” probably means individually targeted ad buys on DC area broadcast stations and local cable system that they think reach their intended audience (congress critters, staff, opinion makers, activists) well.

My hemorrhoids are flared up, and I’m ready to go.

Is that close enough, Mr. President?

sezme September 18, 2009 at 3:25 pm

Silly liberal blog! They’re never pay you ad bux now. Why buy the cow when the milk’s free? This is why only redstate.com will ever get rich.

finallyhappy September 18, 2009 at 3:32 pm

I have to admit- even though I am Barry’s biggest fan(don’t tell Michele)- when I worked for his campaign and then for the inauguration- we had to practise and do that Fired up, ready to go thing. I am way too old for that- how did that become part of my volunteer commitment. I also hated when some kid tried to stop me from using a bathroom when I was working at a Barry for PRez volunteer call center. He told me I had to enter that part of the office through another door. I told him – “No, I don’t think so. I just sat on a cold floor for three hours making calls and now I am going to pee. ” I guess I could have said “I am ready to go- now!”

with all of these awkward cuts it’s nice to see that hype williams found work

Will work for shoes September 18, 2009 at 6:18 pm

Well, FDL tells me that since the ad doesn’t mention the public option President Rahm Obama has thrown it under the bus. Is there still room under that bus?

Violenza September 18, 2009 at 8:09 pm

Ugh, that cringed me out at the end. Was that good or not? I have no idea.

a_pink_poodle September 18, 2009 at 9:06 pm

OH MY GOSH THAT LAST BIT HE WAS INDOCTRINATING THOSE POOR STUDENTS!

Carrabuda September 18, 2009 at 9:44 pm

I think it was a pretty good way of “showing the prisoner the instruments.” In other words, this ad says, “Take a look, GOP. See how popular my ideas are with the next generation of voters? These people are eating out of my hand, and they’ve got lots and lots of voting years ahead of them.”

Hell, if they stick a Coldplay song into it, he’d have this sucky health care bill (insurance bailout bill) passed tomorrow.
