Latest Sketchy Rock Creek Dead Person Was… An ACLU Lobbyist

by Jim Newell

The land of SadnessPolice found some new dead guy being dead last Friday in Rock Creek Park, Washington’s #1 secret murder location. Was he just some hobo, or was he… A CIVIL LIBERTIES LOBBYIST? He was a civil liberties lobbyist! “The man who was found dead in Rock Creek Park on Friday has been identified as Larry Frankel, 54. Frankel was State Legislative Director for the ACLU’s Washington Legislative Office, and previously served as executive director of the ACLU of Pennsylvania. Sources say Frankel had been missing since at least Wednesday, and preliminary word is that he died of natural causes. D.C. police found Frankel face down in a creek in the park on Friday morning. He was dressed in jogging clothes.” Why would Gary Condit do this again? [DCist]

K, I’m just gonna go ahead and make a list of professions Bill O’Reilly regularly denounces so as never to end up in one of those fields.

Lionel Hutz Esq. August 31, 2009 at 1:59 pm

And Bill O’Reilly was away from his show Thursday and Friday…., Coincidence?

A lotta corpses turn up in Rock Creek Park. And those are just the ones we know about. What about the other ones that actually got buried there? Will the resurrection of the dead begin in Rock Creek Park? And who will come up first? Offed lobbyists? Disappeared Congressional girlfriends? Obama’s health care plan? Who knows?

See, this is when the First Amendment comes up against the Second Amendment, if the Second Amendment gives you the right to drown somebody in a creek, which it probably does if you ask Scalia.

mookworthjwilson August 31, 2009 at 2:03 pm

ooo…so i guess that means there is a job opening at the ACLU…

Doglessliberal August 31, 2009 at 2:05 pm

[re=398935]V572625694[/re]: Scallia probably says it REQUIRES you to.

Is this where they arrested Robert Hanssen, the spy? I watched the HBO movie and the creek sounds familiar. But then probably every city has a park called Rock Creek. And a creek called Rock.

Doglessliberal August 31, 2009 at 2:08 pm

[re=398942]hobospacejunkie[/re]: No, different park. Hansen’s was in Viginia.

Maybe he thought it was like a post-mortem Jewish dating service and he went there to meet Chandra Levy. Too soon?

Next John Grisham novel in 3..2..1..!

[re=398942]hobospacejunkie[/re]:

No, Robert Hanssen was arrested in Foxstone Park, over in Northern Virginia (Vienna area). Vienna (and the whole of Northern Virgina) is creepy for its bland cookie cutter neighborhoods and appalling traffic.

Oh, and Cheney lives over that side of the River now, right by CIA headquarters. Enough said.

magic titty August 31, 2009 at 2:12 pm

I, for one, would not be caught dead in “jogging clothes”.

ph7 August 31, 2009 at 2:12 pm

He must have died of a bleeding heart.

hiphophitler August 31, 2009 at 2:18 pm

Thank you for restoring the mouseovers. I will now buy the trashy novel. Crisis averted.

DangerousLiberal August 31, 2009 at 2:27 pm

Where was Dick Cheney during all this? Sensors detect a conspiracy, captain.

Hey, makes more sense than Hillary/Vince Foster.

Libtards need their conspiracies, too. Teabaggers keep hoggin them these days.

We don’t even have commie care yet and look what happened. Just imagine what would have happened if Obama Care was in place.

Eric Cantor’s emory board was found jammed into his bloody ear and Miss McConnell’s pilates mat wrapped around his head.

Mr Blifil August 31, 2009 at 6:20 pm

He died serene in the knowledge that his assailant’s rights will be scrupulously observed down to the niceties.

NYNYNY August 31, 2009 at 7:22 pm

[re=398935]V572625694[/re]: The second amendment protects both hands and guns. Since it was my hands that held him the creek, it was fully protected. The ACLU are completely behind me on this.

Maybe it’s because I’m friends with a former coworker and friend of the victim, but I find the tone of this item–and the comments–really fucking nauseating. “Dead guy being dead”…witty! (No, not witty: just gross.)

I’m not usually a scold but this is really sad news and the chorus of witless jokes on here are coming, indeed, “too soon.”

Grossed Out August 31, 2009 at 10:51 pm

P.S. And if anyone tries to discredit my point on the basis of my glaring grammatical error I will hurt them.

LoweredPeninsula September 1, 2009 at 2:54 am

Why doesn’t Washington just get it over, already, and rename the damned thing “Death Creek Park”?

outside the beltway September 1, 2009 at 1:09 pm

If all this “humor” at Larry’s expense is any measure of what constitutes entertainment in DC, no wonder people disdain the DC beltway culture. Dead guy in Rock Creek Park? Haha funny! Oh, and he worked for the ACLU? Hilarious!
Fact: Larry’s death wasn’t “sketchy”; he died of natural causes and had the bad luck of having it happen while jogging in RCP. He was a good guy – please show some respect.
