You might think the Snuggie, “The Blanket with Sleeves,” would be too embarrassing to wear in the privacy of your own home, let alone out in public. Well, prepare to put aside your dignity, as the DC Snuggie Pub Crawl is coming to town.

The Snuggie Pub Crawl is a magical night when everyone with a Snuggie can prance about the streets of DC in their Wizard Garb, drink till oblivion and hopefully come home with their Reverse Jawa Costume all covered in puke and stale beer.

The creepy product’s infomercial has quickly turned the Snuggie into a cult phenomenon amongst cheeky youngsters — the part with the couple at the sporting event high-fiving each other is particularly enjoyable. Older, poorer people, however, think of the Snuggie as a way to survive the winter now that the heat’s been turned off.

The Chicago Snuggie Pub Crawl is set for March 21, and so far, 1,150 people have expressed interest in going, so it can’t be that bad, right?

The date for the DC Snuggie Pub Crawl isn’t set in stone, but keep checking their site.

And, it eliminates that pesky question of what to wear.

in the future, these will be remembered as “the good times”. and “blankets with sleeves” will be an almost-forgotten part of the time when there was “cloth”.

But what of the Slanket? THINK OF THE SLANKET

Do they come in Camo??? My militia group would prolly kick me out for wearing one unless I can add some velcro fake twiggy stuff and pass it off as a sniper in the woods thingy.

I will finally get a programmable thermostat.

[re=250596]friendlynerd[/re]: One must use a spork to eat while wearing a Slanket.

Will people who wear an off-brand “snuggie”, be able to participate? I mean, sure there will be those that look down on them, but that’s to be expected.

Is there gonna be a cuddle party afterwards? I mean, if you’re gonna get icky, you may as well go full-on icky.

Nothing says “Polygamist Mormon Splinter Group” like a bunch of people walking around in Snuggies.

We don’t know if this is for real, but it’s a pretty funny idea!

This is going to be the shiznet. Druids going on a pub crawl. Finally the shame of having purchased a Snuggie will be wiped away with the goodness of alcohol.

I made my friend a Snuglet for her birthday. It was poorly stitched, she shalt like it, and it was good. Also.

I have a Snuggie. Best birthday present ever. However, it is too long for bar crawling. But I’ll try anyway.

Yeah, that picture is totally a Slanket, not a Snuggie. Snuggies don’t come in cool colors. I have a lavendar pink Slanket, and there’s nothing quite as cozy as crocheting while watching reality TV under a Slanket. Welcome to my world, baby.

Hey There-

I was the person who sent the original email to the Snuggie Bar Crawl site to get them to set up the DC page… but they haven’t been responsive to later emails to put up an official date. Not sure exactly what’s going on with them. So I went ahead and put up a facebook event that has a tentative date of April 18.

Why so far away? There have been some problems with the shipping from the Snuggie people and there are stories floating around the internet of people waiting over a month for delivery. Also: the current plan is to crawl the bars in the Cap Hill area starting on Pennsylvania and maybe heading towards Barracks Row or even H. If anyone has better ideas (or wants to offer dirt cheap drinks to those in blankets with sleeves) nothing is set in stone.

Thanks!
