I live in Louisiana. 18..6% poverty rate and David “Diaperfucker” Vitter scored an 11/100.
My home state of Maryland scores pretty well. The one guy who gets an F is a Republican named “Roscoe.” Why doesn’t that surprise me?

I am given to understand that as long as the poors have a cable TV hookup, a game console and a couple of used titles, the social structure will be prevented from collapsing into maurauding gun-toting gangs raping, looting, pillaging, and revenge killing on whites. In some ways it sucks living in an extremely liberal Dem district/city/state. Every single one of my Reps and Senators scored A+ 100%. At least poverty’s no longer a problem in my city!

I wouldn’t say that republicans HATE the poor… at least not as much as they hate immigrants, minorities, gays and women. It’s more like they strongly dislike the poor.

The governors of Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas are threatening not to accept the stimulus funds (which legally they probably cannot do). This is either political genius or political suicide, depending on how much farther the economy goes down the toilet.

Hm. Is there a curve on the grading scale? With the high scores that Oregon legistlators got on fighting poverty you’d think that, you know, we’d have less poverty here.

Mass. here - I’m more worried about the people who don’t qualify for services/benefits…….the ones whose income is “too high” but don’t make enough to cover the cost of living in metro Boston. Those people fall through the cracks.
