  • YOUR MONTHLY UPDATE ON THE FAIRNESS DOCTRINE: Recently a few half-powerful (or anonymous) Democrats have been overheard expressing their support for Reinstating The Fairness Doctrine. Well, those people are retarded if so. Nevertheless, it’s fueled the Right’s fear campaign that Obama will reinstate this thing and Sean Hannity’s listeners will be forced to turn over their property and the Internet to any Mexican with a driver’s license. A White House spokesman, however, released another brief statement reiterating that Obama does not want to do this. This will only make Republicans more skeptical. [Fox News]

‘The Fairness Doctrine was a policy of the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) that required the holders of broadcast licenses both to present controversial issues of public importance and to do so in a manner that was (in the Commission’s view) honest, equitable and balanced.’

Fair and balanced? Wow, now I can see why the tards at Fox are against this!

“A White House spokesman, however, released another brief statement reiterating that Obama does not want to do this.”

All democrats lie. Obama is a democrat. So, it stands to reason that they do, in fact, want this fairness thing. They wouldn’t deny it if it weren’t true. Fair but unbalanced.

San Diego talk-radio guy/Limbaugh stand-in Roger Hedgecock (don’t go there) was bleating about this the other day. I understand the broadcasters don’t want to give up their precious airtime to government-mandated imam doctrinal instruction and prayer calls, but how do they all get on the same topic so quickly? The Hopey’s-a-socialist meme must’ve been broadcast right into their heads last fall.

Ha ha! Newell, when President Waxman gets done with you, you will have to keep a paper log of all Wonkette comments, notated as to whether they are leftwing, rightwing or buttseks. Then you will have to mail carbon copies of that diary to the Internets once a month, and Bill Gates will annually review it to see if you get to keep your domain name.

Don’t worry, Mr. Assity — the Thought Police cannot persecute what they cannot see.

Tell you what, if Sean Hannity can spend a whole day where he just tells the truth, we can forget this whole Fairness Doctrine thing.

V572625694: Hedgecock? Really? I thought Lars Larson was bad. I’d stay away from radio with a name like Hedgecock. There must be some network for “conservative” radio hosts and editorial writers. They all spew the exact same distorted nonsense that sounds like a six-year old trying to get away with hitting the cat. Their talking points must be handed down to them from a secret bunker where Dick Cheney and Rush dine on babies and drink OxyContin shakes.

  9. I’ve never understood how the bitters can bitch about the MSM being too “liberal” and then opposing the Fairness Doctrine at the same time.

  10. sowbelly says at 5:44 pm, February 18th, 2009

I mean really, Obama is so damn confusing with his “press conferences” and answering questions people are asking. How can that possibly clarify anything?

  11. Lionel Hutz Esq. says at 5:45 pm, February 18th, 2009

But why should Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh be allowed on the public airwaves when they obviously hate American?

V572625694: How can anyone not go there? The name is just begging to go there, wherever there is.

I’m awaiting the inevitable Drudge Siren warning about Swedish members of ACORN trying to pass laws to keep Rush Limbaugh off the air.

Here’s the trick our friends on the right side of the aisle have figured out about teh blax as Pretzledents. They’re very crafty and if they say one thing, they really mean THE OPPOSITE!

OH NOES! You linked to Fox News. Now I have to read the comments. Worst comment-system ever. If you try to go to a second page there is post after post about some sort of imaginary Pelosi vs. Pope abortion death-match.

But here are some good comments just from the first page!:

Obama=Bush’s Third Term. I’ve been slipping this into conversations lately, particularly when liberals are around. The response by them is priceless. They look like they just swallowed poison.

Of course the President does. He support the “unfairness Doctrine” Just listen to his action not his words..dummy

obviously obama is liar, if he told you he intended to reinstate the fairness doctrine then you’d see it coming. he’s trying to fool you, don’t let him.- a concerned rush limbaugh & sean hannity listener.

  18. comradepaulson says at 6:09 pm, February 18th, 2009

sarcasticusername: If Obama blinks one eye and scratches his cheek with one finger bent at a 25 degree angle, this is the secret code for reinstating the fairness doctrine. If he blinks two eyes, we all become gay Muslins like that Buttars guy from Utah.

  19. It’s a Swedish-style fairness doctrine.

He’s not all that crazy, actually. Just kind of an entertainer, like Limbaugh. Used to be mayor of San Diego, then got convicted on twelve counts of perjury. I guess the political background makes him a sort of Jerry-Springer-wannabe, which is about the saddest thing imaginable.

  25. “Obama Opposes Reinstatement of the Fairness Doctrine.”

And certainly he must. Such would disrupt the new spirit of bipartainship with the unfair.

  26. Internally valid: Obama=Clinton’s Third Term? If so, the Democratic Leadership Council will beaucoup approve.

Actually, if this were Clinton’s Third Term, Bill would have the banks [with Congressional appropriation] bailout the US. Not one to disturb the free market model was Bill. With his reduction in capital gains tax rates, his balanced budgets and his signing of NAFTA, Bill was the best president the business Republicans ever have had since Coolidge.

But Bill also liked to have his wee-wee deeply inhaled outside of the marital confine. Quel dommage.

I attempted to discuss the Fairness Doctrine last summer with my Congressperson Gabrielle Giffords. She didn’t know what I was talking about. Never heard of it. When I attempted to explain the concept/history she interrupted me with the reply, “Oh, we don’t need anything like that. The market will regulate the airwaves.” Where have you heard that line before? No snark, just true. Another Democrat who loves Reagan.
