There are many exciting things to do this weekend, this freezing, rainy, middle-of-December weekend. For example: a concert at a pizza place. That’s something new. Oh, and Tim Gunn, the “distinguished one” from Project Runway will be in town promoting some charity thing, for gays. Get liquored up and ask questions about Heidi Klum.
Friday:
- Go to Halo and do clubby things with Tim Gunn, the gentleman who plays Dorian Gray on the teevee show Project Runway. This thing doubles as a charity event in which your money will go towards LGBT causes. 7 PM; prices vary. [BrightestYoungThings]
Saturday:
- Ted Leo is playing a sold-out show at the Black Cat. Not to worry if you didn’t get tickets, as Ted Leo will be on tour forever and always has been. [Black Cat]
- Sounds like robots having sex to a Rapture album: Ghostland Observatory at the 9:30 Club. $20; 7 PM. [9:30 Club]
- Arlington Cinema will be holding a Found Footage Film Festival, in which they will be playing of film found here and there as well as random footage from cable access networks. Like YouTube, except stripped of its user agency! 6:45 PM; $10. [Washington Post]
Sunday:
- The 9:30 Clubs hosts vulgar, be-costumed metal-heads GWAR at 7 PM. $20. [9:30 Club]
- Strokes-y, punk-y Silver Spring-based the Jet Age will be playing at Comet Ping Pong. A concert, with pizza! Do not miss this. [Comet Ping Pong]
In the current depressing economic climate, guns are not a wise addition to one’s household.
Sounds like suicide would be a super-swell thing to do in D.C. this weekend.
