LOBBYIST THIEVES

  • K STREET BANK LOOTED: Somebody robbed the PNC Bank at 14th and K. Obviously it was lobbyists driven insane with fear that they will all turn into impoverished destitute train-ridin’ hobos once Barack Nobama comes to town and taxes them for working hard. Either that or, you know, bank robbers, either one. Thanks to Rebecca for bringing this terrible pillage and plunder to our attention. (Update: You are right, whoever pointed out that link was to a different robbery. Banks are getting robbed, everywhere. Who even knows if the PNC at 14th and K actually got robbed? Only “Rebecca.”)

at 14th and K?!?!?! That is brazen.

Huh. People robbing a bank. Imagine that.

  3. Wow, a taxpayer actually robbing a bank? Now that’s a nice reversal.

InsidiousTuna: In Amerika, bank robs you. Thanks, you’re great, come to my theatre in Branson, OK?

Christ, how can you tell the difference between a bank run and a bank robbery these days, anyway? How much did they get–$25k? That’s almost enough to make the nut for a trip to Scores in Manhattan for some, er, “clients.”

Were they wearing the Nixon or the Shatner masks?

  6. Noodle Salad says at 10:58 am, November 25th, 2008

Clearly, America needs to bail out these bank robbers.

  7. Paulson masks.

I’m still waiting for The Food Network to launch a show about the new hobo cuisine. I got some shoe soles boiling in a tin cup and I don’t know how to flavor them to appeal to the tramp palate.

I’ll have my stimulus payment now, thank you.

  10. That link was about a PNC robbery in SE????

  11. AngryBlakGuy says at 11:08 am, November 25th, 2008

…its probably makes more sense to rob a food stamp office.

  12. hobgoblin of little minds says at 11:09 am, November 25th, 2008

    Hobo beans for everyone!

  13. AngryBlakGuy says at 11:09 am, November 25th, 2008

…now this is my kind of “Stimulus Package”!

  14. Today’s K Street NW robbery was at an Eagle Bank … not PNC.

  15. These robbers must not have been very good friends with Hank Paulson, otherwise he would have given them a lot more if they claimed to be a failing financial institution.

artbear: Really? All of the activity right now seems centered on the PNC Bank next to FedEx on 14th and K, or at least that is what it appears from my office across the street.

    BarthexDeRosa: Add a sock.

  19. All is not lost — they still have “mama dollar and papa dollar”. It was enough to keep the Bailey Building & Loan afloat in “It’s a Wonderful Life”.

Speaking of which, didn’t the end of that movie establish bailing out failed banks a Christmas tradition? Just pass the basket around and the bank examiner will pitch in and drink nog.

    We are all Pottersvillians now.

  20. BarthexDeRosa: The shoe glue melted down and warm makes a great gravy.

  21. NotAnEvilLobbyist:

One of our employees got that word from a police officer as they had first cordoned off the north side of 1400 K Street (from DC Coast to just past the Eagle Bank) before closing K Street. Will research further now that the police tape is down.

DCist reports the alleged robber has been apprehended … the dye bomb had gone off and the suspect had a cab take him to his apartment. D’oh!

  22. problemwithcaring says at 12:20 pm, November 25th, 2008

This says it was indeed a PNC Bank and that the guy took a cab after the robbery. A Cab in DC? How bourgeois! Middle class folks really are back to robbing banks the old fashioned way now that the shareholders aren’t giving it away for a good FICO score and a smile.

  23. shortsshortsshorts says at 12:34 pm, November 25th, 2008

It wasn’t a robbery. It was a bank run. Desperate times/Desperate measures. blah blah and all that.

  24. A Republican lobbyist, obvs., as a Dem would be smart enough not to expect a bank to have any money.

  25. p-Sludge ofTheElves says at 1:00 pm, November 25th, 2008

Allergies really gettin’ to me (ka-chew!).
I just read something about the E Street Band being looted by testicle-drainin’ hobos.

  26. facehead says at 1:21 pm, November 25th, 2008

InsidiousTuna: At one point in history there was money in banks, but to rob a bank today… what were they looking for, pens?

  27. CapitolGal says at 4:48 pm, November 25th, 2008

I didn’t realize it at the time but I crossed the street at 14th and K with this guy. Once we reached K street, the red dye went off in his grocery bag and went everywhere! His pants came down several times, and well it was really quite bizarre! I called 911 and later learned that he robbed a bank. I haven’t seen anything on the news about this.
