- Remember when Joe Biden said, “As soon as he’s elected, Barack Obama is going to piss off his most devoted supporters, and you Obamatards are all just going to have to suck it up”? Was he talking about Hillary Clinton becoming Secretary of State? [Politico]

- American car manufacturers still want their bailout, but it’s looking less and less likely. [Bloomberg]
- A new report confirms that Gulf War Syndrome is real, and probably caused by an anti-nerve gas drug and pesticides. [Los Angeles Times]
- Why the widespread lack of support for an auto industry bailout? Because their cars suck and everybody hates them for fighting against better fuel-efficiency standards. [New York Times]
- Jerry Yang, the founder of Yahoo and repeated sinker of deals to try to save the company, is finally stepping down. [Wall Street Journal]

The Obama administration should make the Big Three put out before they start any talks about a bailout. Ass, cash or gas, baby.
“Why the widespread lack of support for an auto industry bailout? Because their cars suck and everybody hates them for fighting against better fuel-efficiency standards.”
I’m glad someone finally said it. It’s ticking me off that car companies are blaming the unions for this. Ooooh, if we didn’t have to pay retirement, we’d be successful. No, if you built better cars and didn’t put all your eggs in the SUV basket, you’d be successful. The Japanese car companies consistently beat Detroit by making reliable cars that get good mileage.
Will Bill cost Hillary yet another position? They have become the Kama Sutra of politics–how many ways can he screw her out of positions?
Where did these Pentagon doctors get their medical degrees from? The Phil Gramm School of Douchebaggery and Medicine aka “It’s All in your Head U”
It’s all the numbers. If say a couple of hundred bitched then maybe the Pentagon might have a point, but we’re talking almost a hundred thousand here.
Terry: Yeah. I was just going to comment on that quote as being probably the most concise, accurate synopsis of the situation. Sara K. Smith is like a hot Andy Rooney.
I hated the idea of Hillz as Pres or Senator. As a Secretary she might be really successful. Bitchy secretaries get stuff done. Pushovers don’t, e.g., Condi.
They should tell her this is a great job for her anyone. And, you know what they say - who is the most powerful person in a corporation? The CEOs secretary.
My Gulf War Synrome is caused by that thing they implanted behind my right ear. I keep trying but I can’t get it out.
I can think of lots of strings I’d like attached to an auto industry bailout. For one I would like to build a Homer, the car for every guy.
Barring that I would like a zero-emissions Audi S8 for the price of a Neon.
Terry: Management is to blame but Unions suck to. The problem with the UAW is you get brain dead bitterz making more than a college professor.
Terry:
A lot of blame to be shared by everyone at the Big Three. It’s a dinosaur industry filled with greedy and complacent executives and employees that will become extinct unless they all quickly adapt and compromise. There can be no “What’s in it for me?” mentality from this point forward, if they want to survive.
I heart Toyota - best investment I ever made. Oh, wow, look I might get penalized for making the right choice. Capitalism 4evr.
I thought that Jerry Yang was the winner of the 2007 WSOP main event?
I had a friend go to Iraq in the first Gulf War at age 19. A year later, he came back looking like a 40-year-old. Thanks, government!
Oh, and he didn’t see any combat, unless you count his immune system battling and losing to pesticides.
Servo:
I really try to buy American cars. Support the home team and all that. I get more and more annoyed over the years, though, when the cars I’m offered by Detroit are less reliable and less safe than Japan is making, and I have fewer options for smaller cars. I live in an urban/suburban area. I don’t need a frickin suv. I don’t camp that much or haul stuff, nor do I drive by the clubs so that everyone can see my rims.
Make me a safe, reliable car that is of a size that I can park it in the grocery store lot and that gets great mileage.
Not a lot to ask.
I thought the Big Three was Hillary’s ass?
Too sexist?
Good luck, Gulf War Veterans.
My dad still can’t get any money from the government for the THREE different kinds of cancer that they admit were caused by exposure to agent orange. Why? No “boots on the ground.” Why? He was in Vietnam 1962 when many of the missions then were secret and thus not included in his service record.
No disability. YAY GOVERNMENT!
Why is the Times article printed in shouty font? Are they trying to appeal to lunkheaded wingnuts?
Volkswagondammerung
Terry:
Apparently, that requirement is neither realistic or fair.
I keep tellin’ ya. The Obamatards WANTED Hillary for Secy of State to prove they aren’t sexist. This primary caused their circuits to fry, because by voting for a black guy, they were voting against a woman and it caused their liberal brains to explode.
I hope Yang is replaced by someone named Yin, just to see the headlines.
ella: That would be the Change that keeps on Changing.
Also, about this bailout thing. There are those of us who voted for Barry against the better judgement of our peers, who we’re forced to listen to make bitter, mean jokes ALL THE TIME now, who deserve a little sweetener. Just sayin’.
Living in Michigan, if Washington doesn’t bail out Detroit, the entire state will move to Ohio, where conditions are great (comparatively)…. I’m saving up my pennies to buy back Detroit in a couple of years - join me! It’ll be the greatest commune ever!…. I think we can get the whole city for about $6,000 bucks, maybe less….
The EPA, that vangaurd of environmental safety, has a list of the top 10 most fuel efficient cars. Detroit has ONE (1) on the list, and it’s actually one that it designed in conjunction with Mazda and is therefore practically Japanese. Detroit has known this day of reckoning was coming for at least 30 years. I don’t like the idea of this industry collapsing and all those people losing their jobs. It will hurt our country badly. But how can you save an industry that has refused, REFUSED, to save itself? It feels like sitting around pondering how to save the horseshoe industry.
At least we made it through another day without passing a Big Three bailout; that would open a Pandora’s Box, in my opinion, and every equally broke town or businesswould be making a run for the trough.
