The crisis of this election is huge that he has to suspend his campaign to deal with the problem!

But really, I wish people didn’t pull immature crap like this because it makes all of us libtards look bad…oh, wait…

  2. mookworthjwilson says at 1:35 pm, November 3rd, 2008

Fucking asshats gonna cost us this thing…somehow the ebony unicorn will get the blame for this…

  3. Hairy Reed says at 1:35 pm, November 3rd, 2008

    Whaaa??? Hax0rs?

  4. I also love the immediate redirect to barackobama.com…

  5. WonderWomyn says at 1:36 pm, November 3rd, 2008

This will just anger them more…

  6. Viva la Cynthia says at 1:37 pm, November 3rd, 2008

Oh, so it’s a fake hack? Then I totally approve and am laughing–out loud, even!

    Soon enough…

  8. Where’s the SIREN?!?!

  9. Cogito Ergo Bibo says at 1:37 pm, November 3rd, 2008

They could have at least highjacked the site to some porn. That way, everybody wins!

  10. Tommy Says Soooo says at 1:38 pm, November 3rd, 2008

I suspect anyone on Wonkette who has ever made a Dungeons & Dragons reference.

  11. demtard: Actually it’s a redirect on mouseover of the “endorses Obama” banner.

  12. Viva la Cynthia says at 1:39 pm, November 3rd, 2008

WonderWomyn: Isn’t it strange how we never hear that in response to a stupid GOP-sympathizin’ stunt (e.g., Ashley Todd)? Is it that this side doesn’t get mad, or that they just don’t care if we do?

  13. BobLoblawLawBlog says at 1:39 pm, November 3rd, 2008

FTW to a whole new level.

  14. GreatLakesNation says at 1:39 pm, November 3rd, 2008

Walnuts is the ultimate Warsh-ington outsider…so much that that he’s suspending his campaign again the day before the election…that’ll move the polls

  15. Cape Clod says at 1:40 pm, November 3rd, 2008

A pleasant thought. In the coming civil war, while the wingnuts will be taking over freeways with their guns and flags and camo, the liberals will electronically empty what’s left of their bank accounts.

  16. drunkenredneck says at 1:40 pm, November 3rd, 2008

Wow, that didn’t take long, 4 min. till it was back up.
Of course that doesn’t really leave enough time for them to have figured out the vulnerability on their site. Their web admin should be getting hazard pay.

  17. american mutt says at 1:42 pm, November 3rd, 2008

mookworthjwilson: yes, but ebony unicorns don’t lose no matter what.

  18. World B Free says at 1:42 pm, November 3rd, 2008

The McCain campaign has to be struggling to find one of the three Republican computer programmers to fix the hack.

  19. drunkenredneck says at 1:42 pm, November 3rd, 2008

drunkenredneck: Excellent, I did some reading and this is teh fake, I feel like a tool.

  20. The Jackson Five says at 1:43 pm, November 3rd, 2008

Hilarious! 4chan posse in the tank.

  21. 4tehlulz says at 1:43 pm, November 3rd, 2008

drunkenredneck: The password is probably “password”.

  22. MoonshineJoe says at 1:43 pm, November 3rd, 2008

Tommy Says Soooo: Clearly my THAC0 of 10 was good enough to hit John of McCain’s AC of 7… because I roll twenties?

  23. american mutt says at 1:44 pm, November 3rd, 2008

Cape Clod: that’s a good point. they have guns. we have hax0rs.

  24. Tommy Says Soooo says at 1:48 pm, November 3rd, 2008

This is just a test to see if the levees break by having a premature Hopegasm. Bring extra towels, Kleenex, and Sara K’s political spermicide.

  25. MoonshineJoe says at 1:48 pm, November 3rd, 2008

4tehlulz: Just looking at the link (to an event) I bet it is an sql injection attack. Someone probably added the event using some sql statements and the input wasn’t parametrized.

  26. Anonymous Office Zombie says at 1:49 pm, November 3rd, 2008

    MoonshineJoe:
HAXX0R attacks McCain’s Internets Security Golem
    HAXX0R rolls a natural 20 - Critical Hit!
HAXX0R’s +3 Vorpal Sword of Golem Slaying decapitates Golem
HAXX0R gains 10,000 XP and McCain campaign loses -2 points to Charisma score

  27. The Helvetica Scenario says at 1:51 pm, November 3rd, 2008

    4tehlulz: or Wasilla High.

  28. The Decider says at 1:54 pm, November 3rd, 2008

Drudge 40 point font in 3..2..1..

  29. Gee, kids, things are starting to get giddy around here. Now don’t get over-heated with all this running around and remember to water down your apple juice.

  30. paul irish says at 1:58 pm, November 3rd, 2008

This isn’t really a HACK. it’s a XSS vulnerability. so no one really “hacked” their site.. its just their web developers could done a better job. :)

  31. DeathOfIrony says at 1:58 pm, November 3rd, 2008

It’s a fake, but perhaps the McCain web team will spend the next 24 hours searching for the offending files on the server and wondering how it’s happening. Perhaps they’ll need to clean the tubes with teh giant pipe-cleaner.

  32. FreshCliches says at 2:01 pm, November 3rd, 2008

Cape Clod: WIN. How can you finance a race war when All Your Bank Are Belong To Us?

  33. They are such amateurs not too have already fixed this. I guess they are all working on their resumes or out get loaded to drown their sorrows.

  34. american mutt: Cape Clod: that’s a good point. they have guns. we have hax0rs.

Mutt you don’t know the right hax0rs, all my geeks are reinactors to boot. Nothin like a bunch of nerds dressed up like the Wehrmact with working MP-5’s arguing about the OPness of Warlocks in WoW and drinking vodka from tin cups. goodtimes goodtimes.

  35. Ok, McCain has just lost it. Coal, Nukes, Oil, San Francisco!

  36. Johnny Zhivago says at 2:09 pm, November 3rd, 2008

It’s not really a hack - McCainnation is a sub-site where anyone can post almost anything they want.

    So relax, nobody hacked anything.

  37. Maj. Major Major Major says at 2:14 pm, November 3rd, 2008

It’s a simple XSS attack. Nothing to see here, folks…

  38. MoonshineJoe says at 2:26 pm, November 3rd, 2008

Maj. Major Major Major: I r wrong. It is XSS and not sql injection. Back to arguing about how OP ret pallies are now.

  39. Schadenfried says at 2:26 pm, November 3rd, 2008

Viva la Cynthia: Heck, the right never apologizes for anything. Meanwhile if someone on the left even blows their nose in their directions, they want a full retraction and repudiation.

  40. Maj. Major Major Major says at 2:30 pm, November 3rd, 2008

I don’t recommend anything, but a person could have a lot of fun with John McCain’s Find.aspx

  41. Ken Layne says at 2:31 pm, November 3rd, 2008

    DeathOfIrony: That is my hope.

  42. Giant Robot says at 2:41 pm, November 3rd, 2008

mookworthjwilson: Sadly, I agree. Messing with their website could cause some blowback. Too bad. I don’t know anything about this hacking stuff but when I realized I could copy the URL and change the message to “McCain collapses at rally in Virginia” I came really close to sending it to my repug relatives.

  43. Lascauxcaveman says at 2:41 pm, November 3rd, 2008

4tehlulz: Actually, I was the hacker that did this and the password wasn’t “password.” It was two-level entry with the initial login being much harder to figure “trollop.”

The second login was a 4-letter word beginning with C.

  44. Maj. Major Major Major says at 2:43 pm, November 3rd, 2008

Maybe John McCain validates his data at the form layer like they used to do back in the 1950s or whatever.

  45. God Bless America land of the Freedom rings. No really.

  46. It’s a trick, everyone! John announces he is quitting today, we get drunk tonight and blow off voting tomorrow, and he pops back up tomorrow with a “Just kidding!”.

  47. Das Storminator says at 3:02 pm, November 3rd, 2008

    Holy XSS hole, Batman!
