Mississippi College Paper Is Racist

by Jim Newell

Check out this sexy article which shows every fancy college newspaper endorsing Barack Obama except one, in a ratio coincidentally similar to that of the editorial staff at Slate, “the college newspaper of the Internet.” The only college newspaper to endorse McCain is that of the University of Mississippi, where they hate black people all the time, because of slavery. Not all of Mississippi is horribly racist like this, however, as the “grown-ups’” Clarion-Ledger of Jackson, Mississippi has endorsed Obama. For some PERSPECTIVE, the headline for this paper’s wrap-up of MLK Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” deal in 1963 was, “WASHINGTON IS CLEAN AGAIN WITH NEGRO TRASH REMOVED.” This newspaper has no consistency whatsoever. I gotta go with the wingnuts on the subject of the 10900 year old slave-daughter voting for “that won” saying “And this is news?”

So Editor & Publisher reads The Daily Mississippian? That’s two more than read it in Mississippi.

College newspapers are make-work programs for retards who couldn’t get into the Ed. program.

In the spirit of that MLK hed from Mississippi, I believe the Anchorage paper should run a story, re: the Gov’s ascent to the campaign, with hed “Wasilla Streets Are Clean Now that Heath-Palin Trash Is Gone”.

My family, all school teachers and small farmers, went to Missippi State. My first full sentence was: “Go to Hell Ole Miss.”

Mama and Daddy taught me well.

I just looked at the Missippi State newspaper’s web site. No endorsement, but Obama won the student election. Pretty good for a majority-white, Deep South cow college.

Um is this the same Ole Miss that James Meredith integrated in the early 60s, leading to racist mobs and murders, THAT Ole Miss? Why am I not surprised?

[re=160280]the invisible woman[/re]: Yes’m. Trent Lott was a cheerleader there. Some great writers have hung around there, but not much else to commend it.

War Eagle: I liked Faulkner. He is dead now.

If my school newspaper was a Reputable News Outlet, they would endorse someone (it’d be Walnuts, because he’s white). But fucking NO ONE reads the Baylor Lariat, ever, so they don’t even bother.

I grew up in a pro-Ole Miss home. After my first ten seasons of attending Rebel football games, I honestly thought the final words of the National Anthem were “…and the home of the brave, go to hell Mississippi State”.

As an Ole Miss alum, I have to admit that Ole Miss has a horrible reputation for racial relations, and some of it is deserved, such as the continued (unofficial) use of the rebel flag.

That being said, I’m sick and tired of the “open minded” left condemning anyone who disagrees with them or never believing that people in the South can not endorse Obama for reasons other than his race.
