Botswana Meat Commission FC: The name “Busboys and Poets” is a reference to Langston Hughes, whose poetry was discovered by another poet (Vachel Lindsay) while Hughes worked as a busboy in Washington, DC. The restaurant has a pretty liberal bookstore attached to it, and they display local artists’ work.

A recent survey by the University of Sydney showed that 80% of Australians, were they able to vote in the US election, would cast their ballot for Obama. A recent study by me shows that about 75% of my mates are chucking a sickie (that’s Australian for “taking a paid sick day on false pretences”- and yes, we have much better sick leave entitlements than you guys) on Wednesday (that’s Tuesday night your time) and gathering to drink heavily from early morning in breathless anticipation of an Obama victory.
