David Frum Throws John McCain Under the Bus

Tastes like chickenhawk. Will a single Republican stand up for John McCain, please? (And we’re not talking about you dumb-ass rednecks masturbating furiously to Sarah Palin’s tattooed lip liner; we mean the people with money.) Today, Bush speechwriter and conservative mealy mouth David Frum writes in the Washington Post that McCain is a total failure who is also destroying what little remains of the GOP.

I could pile up the poll numbers here, but frankly . . . it’s too depressing. You have to go back to the Watergate era to see numbers quite so horrible for the GOP.

McCain’s awful campaign is having awful consequences down the ballot. I spoke a little while ago to a senior Republican House member. “There is not a safe Republican seat in the country,” he warned. “I don’t mean that we’re going to lose all of them. But we could lose any of them.”

In the Senate, things look, if possible, even worse.

Frum is famous amongst the wingnuts for inventing the words “Axis of Weasels” to describe his employers, the Bush Administration. Then he fucked off to National Review like the rest of them, and now, well, he will soon be getting a million furious ALL-CAPS emails from NRO and Free Republic dingbats, calling him a child-molesting piece of Marxist shit.

Sorry, Senator. Let’s Salvage What We Can [Washington Post]

That stupid McCain, any other nominee could have taken Bush’s winning formula of disastrous policies and divisive politics the country hates and make it work! Everyone would have LOVED Romney talking about upper-class tax cuts! Or Ghouliani’s gusto for bombing Iran! The GOP would have Joe the Plumber leading 65-35 to unseat Joe Biden, but McCain waited so long to bring up Bill Ayers! When will the GOP dump this loser and rally its way to victory in 2012 on a triumphant campaign of destroying representation in government?

  3. Well, maybe the Republicans might lose the White House and the Senate on points, but perhaps there is still time to disenfranchise the votes (”Hey, you won’t really vote. You are young, poor, black, first time registered….”) and rig the tabulators.

The new Republican chant: “Cuyahoga County! Cuyahoga County! Cuyahoga County!”

You have to excuse my brother, Palin-Plumber2012, he used to be a Paultard & he just can’t get being insane out of his system!

  5. Hey, there are Republicans with money supporting McCain. For example,
there’s that terrorist-funding widow Annenburg. And I imagine G. Gordon Liddy has a reasonably sized nest egg by now. And the campaign operative who used to lobby for Saddam Hussein must have picked up a nice bit of coin for his efforts. (Or perhaps I should call him Saddam *Obama* Hussein.) And…

    So please be fair.

Being “mealy-mouthed” seems to be a trend among the “intellectual” conservative douchepunditry … Kristol, Brooks, Pinkerton, Frum, etc … Stephen Hawking could take these pussies in a fight.

David Frum is very articulate for a white guy.

rocktonsammy: What are you, elitist? ALL WHITE PEOPLE ARE ARTICULATE!

  9. “David Frum is very articulate for a white guy.” Clean, too. But then those Canadian whites often are.

  10. That Frum Plan in brief:

    1. Admit that the GOP is doomed in this election.
    2. Go all in by offering to be the party which provides stern oversight to prevent economic calamities (like going into ten trillion dollar debt and presiding over a stock market collapse).

    Screwed beyond words.

Confederacy of Cuntses: do you mean knife or gun fight? See, cause I had a bet with my buddies that Hawking couldn’t take Kristol with knives. Maybe Brooks, but Kristol would slice him up…

No Slim Shady’s in that bunch, sorry.

  14. Frum, you turd, I thought I already dealt with you…

“Unchecked, this angry new wing of the Democratic Party will seek to stifle opposition by changing the rules of the political game. Some will want to silence conservative talk radio by tightening regulation of the airwaves via the misleadingly named “fairness doctrine”; others may seek to police the activities of right-leaning think tanks by a stricter interpretation of what is tax-deductible and what is not.”

I can’t even give you the benefit of being a paranoid nut, because I don’t think you even believe this crap.

Why would the Democratic party need to “stifle opposition”? You don’t even understand the world you live in anymore.

If Rush Limbaugh is suppressed (or you assholes get away with saying that he’s in danger of being suppressed) then he’s a hero of the political minority.

On the other hand, he and the rest of the gang could be free to say whatever offensive, divisive wingnut thing they want, then we can put it up on Youtube and the “great middle” (the folks you say will win this presidential election) can make up their own minds…like they are right now…

If turning an entire presidential campaign into a right wing talk radio show hasn’t moved the public’s opinion, why would the Democratic party GIVE TWO SHITS ABOUT THEM.

  15. ivenson: I have to agree, its probably not the argument they want to hear, but its the simplest. Hannity is devoting every one of his sunday shows to revealing the hippy terr’ist, personally i think he has a man crush on him, and its getting zero traction. doesnt he realize that hillary and the right wingnuts spent about a bazillion dollars trying to see under the mask and got nowhere? Hammity is going to cry hisself to sleep on election night. I think they just need to face it, for the next four years at least, we are going to have a elite librul negro terr’ist in the white house. FTW I cant wait, colt 45 and hennessy and blunts and arugala(sp?) for all!!

When McCain sang for Ho back in ‘67 or ‘68, he lost Thieu. Is it a surprise that so many years later he would lose Frum.

Thieu? Frum? McCain doesn’t know if he’s coming or going (just like GW who can’t be gone too soon).

  17. AnnieGetYourFun says at 4:34 pm, October 26th, 2008

Wasn’t Frum just on The Daily Show whining about how Jon Stewart is a partisan hack who doesn’t provide fair coverage or something? Or was that another whiny former neocon? They all look alike to me.

  18. Lazy Media says at 4:45 pm, October 26th, 2008

Yes! The plan is reaching fruition! Sometime around Friday midnight, Ron Paul will ride to the GOP’s rescue on a snow-white charger named Fairtax. For the Shire!

  19. AnnieGetYourFun: I hate people who confuse the Daily Show with any other serious political coverage. The Daiy Show is far too respectable for things like “fair coverage”! It’s a comedy show!
(And, ironically, the only American news show carried by CNN International. Go fig.)

Up here in the Great White North, where the Frumlet comes from, we don’t think much of him. His mother was the sainted Barbara Frum, the best, most liberal journo in the country, and his sister Linda is a very smart cookie who edits Canada’s leading rating guide to Universities. All in all a very progressive, accomplished family, even Dad, a developer with a social conscience, but little David just went wrong. That’s why we kicked him out and sent him to you suckers

ppcli: His late mother, Barbara Frum, was a beloved establishment liberal (who was fair in her dealings with pols of all stripes), and an ace CBC reporter/interviewer with the gravitas and smarts of a Peter Jennings or Tom Brokow.

She must be spinning in her grave over his neo-con shite.

  23. Wagamuffin says at 12:36 am, October 27th, 2008

Just added recipe, Stephen Baldwin on the barbie. David Frum was having a brewski while Sarah Palin field dressed him and John McNutz is using a lufa “need correct spelling” ( loaner from O’reilly ) to base him with his special sauce….. saucy!

  25. OhYeahAlright: Once again, inbreeding takes its toll.

No guessing about who will get the hillbilly vote.

  26. Wagamuffin: as my username hints, I’m a Canuck too. (Before moving to the ‘States I was - shall we say - “engaged to Patricia” for a time.) In high school I listened to “As It Happens”
every night. Barbara Frum was one hardass interviewer. I still remember the interview she did with the English ambassador to Iceland during one of the fishing wars. There was a protest going on outside the embassy and you could hear the window glass shattering in the background.
