BREAKING: MCCAIN ISSUES BOLD, AUTHORITATIVE DEFENSE OF PALIN SHOPPING SPREE

by Jim Newell

And piper needed a Louis Vuitton bag, what, what's there to not understand?“She needed clothes at the time.” Yeah, c’mon, what don’t you punks understand? EAT SHIT, CRITICS. These liberal media types don’t realize that clothes aren’t free. This isn’t Communist Russia, although reporters obviously want it to be — a nice little private chunk o’ Communist Russia, one for each gotcha journalist, sold in a tank. [Politico]

That’s some bing bing.

hockeymom October 23, 2008 at 5:14 pm

what, was she naked?

grendel October 23, 2008 at 5:14 pm

I need some clothes too, but I don’t have $150K lying around, so I guess I’ll just have to go nekkid.

facehead October 23, 2008 at 5:14 pm

buncha gotcha nudist journalists…

Gopherit October 23, 2008 at 5:17 pm

Yeah, the bitch needed clothes! What did you want her to do, go out in a moose fur bikini??!!

sarahconnor October 23, 2008 at 5:17 pm

would someone let Trig out of the LV bag, please?

tacodaemon October 23, 2008 at 5:17 pm

At least the bag’s an obvious cheap fake. (The real ones never lose the LV monograms in the seams like that, because they’re handmade to avoid that)

pondscum October 23, 2008 at 5:20 pm

[re=145324]tacodaemon[/re]: Elitist.

Texan Bulldoggette October 23, 2008 at 5:20 pm

Piper looks like a little Britney Spears with her white trash McDonald’s cup & Louis Vuitton bag.

MargeSimpsonsBlackFriend October 23, 2008 at 5:20 pm

[re=145324]tacodaemon[/re]: What?! The McCain campaign is infringing on someone’s intellectual property rights? The hell you say!

villageatrois October 23, 2008 at 5:20 pm

McCain sacrifices by “paying for all my own clothes”. BS — I’ve never seen him at Goodwill or Salvation Army. If he’s up for another media stunt, he could take Palin to one of those places.

hockeymom October 23, 2008 at 5:21 pm

hey, Jim hid a funny one in the picture.
Good job, Jim!

WendyK October 23, 2008 at 5:22 pm

[re=145324]tacodaemon[/re]: Wait, hold the fuck up, the Louis Vuitton is a fake? What the hell is that about? Now they’re supporting terrorists?

STARBURST!

[re=145322]sarahconnor[/re]: WIN

Oh hell to the no October 23, 2008 at 5:25 pm

[re=145333]Texan Bulldoggette[/re]: Nice.

Jukesgrrl October 23, 2008 at 5:26 pm

Doesn’t the RNC know that Needless-Markup clothes are designed by GAY people? That’s why Normal Americans shop at Walmart: to make sure their holiday-themed sweatshirts are touched only by straight Chinese people.

bitchincamaro October 23, 2008 at 5:26 pm

What’s with the puffy sleeves? Prolly has man hands, too.

PrairiePossum October 23, 2008 at 5:28 pm

I betcha Joe the Plumber doesn’t spend $150K on clothes. Hell, you could probably add up the cost of everything in Joe’s house, including vehicles, and not come-up with $150K. I’m pretty sure Joe buys his clothes at Wal-Mart or Sears, not Neiman Marcus and Sak’s.

Murph October 23, 2008 at 5:29 pm

They feel they need to put the putative President of the United States in the situation of defending this stupidity?

Anyone with a bit of political sense would have found someone to blame, announce their resignation effective immediately, and moved on. What is this, like three news cycles now?

Unbelievable that the McCain campaign keeps getting worse!

PoliTacky October 23, 2008 at 5:32 pm

“She needed clothes at the time.”

Now I know what killed Mr. Blackwell. Clothes? From Saks? How gauche. Cindy needs to school McCrank on the difference between “clothes” and “fashion.” “Clothes” don’t cost 150,000 ducats, buddy. “Clothes” = a pair of ice-cream-stained sweatpants crumpled up on the floor.

Gopherit October 23, 2008 at 5:32 pm

[re=145344]Aloysius[/re]: Not sure, but I bet she could make one.

Ilikepigeons October 23, 2008 at 5:33 pm

obviously not an educated consumer or
she would have been shopping at syms.

jilly October 23, 2008 at 5:33 pm

Well, thanks a bunch to the liberal news media for breaking this story. I always try to find at least one good thing about a person, even a republitard. With Palen, it was her look: that bitchin wardrobe with that playful Wilma Flintstone updo. Come to find it was all bankrolled by the RNC.

SayItWithWookies October 23, 2008 at 5:36 pm

This is America, Sarah — if you needed clothes so badly, why didn’t you embezzle them yourself?

shortsshortsshorts October 23, 2008 at 5:36 pm

HEY I need a few shirts and a couple of pairs of boxers. Does anyone have $100,000 ?

I PROMISE to give them to charity at some point, many years from now.

Oh hell to the no October 23, 2008 at 5:39 pm

After work I plan on walking over to that very Neiman Marcus that Palin visited and demanding the VP treatment. I’ll also tell them to put it on the RNC tab. Really, at this point, who will notice/care?

ManchuCandidate October 23, 2008 at 5:40 pm

Isn’t that just another term for unshaven?

Dr. Zoidberg October 23, 2008 at 5:42 pm

[re=145390]shortsshortsshorts[/re]: Sure, that’s what you say now…

Gopherit October 23, 2008 at 5:47 pm

[re=145402]ManchuCandidate[/re]: I picture her having a modified brazilian in the outline of bullwinkle.

StrangelyBrown October 23, 2008 at 5:48 pm

[re=145368]PrairiePossum[/re]: On Hardball just now, Tweety said Joe the Plumber’s entire house isn’t even worth $150,000.

facehead October 23, 2008 at 5:50 pm

I AM SARAH

THE GOVERNOR

Sangwi Ddong Chim October 23, 2008 at 5:53 pm

What’s in that Lou Vitton bag, anyway? Half-eaten pack of Gummy Worms and “A Concise Guide to the Vice Presidency for 3rd Graders”?

longjohnson October 23, 2008 at 5:57 pm

Given that she’s being home schooled by her parents, she’s likely to make the same great decisions for herself that Ms Spears did.

mocowbell October 23, 2008 at 5:59 pm

I miss those nice moth eaten “republican cloth coats” like Pat Nixon was forced to wear by her skinflint husband Dick. Coming soon to a TV near you — the “Checkers” speech 2.0!

Outstando October 23, 2008 at 6:01 pm

You know your Presidential campaign isn’t going well when you’re quoted saying “I pay for all of my own clothing.”

totoro October 23, 2008 at 6:03 pm

So…If she were elected she would give away the clothes and go back to rocking her JCPenney Hunt Club frumpery? Not buying that.

If were her and had 150K to spend on clothes I would get the one suit, that was radiation and bullet-proof, with rockets in the feet and the ability to shoot microwave beams from the fingers. Then no one would care that I was stupid.

Texan Bulldoggette October 23, 2008 at 6:08 pm

[re=145442]Sangwi Ddong Chim[/re]: That would be “An Idiot’s Guide to the Vice Presidency for 3rd Graders”.

PrairiePossum October 23, 2008 at 6:09 pm

[re=145430]StrangelyBrown[/re]:

The sad thing – Joe and millions of others in his income bracket will vote for McCain even though McCain doesn’t really understand their lives and their problems.

tripsydaily October 23, 2008 at 6:17 pm

Joint Statement From the RNC/McCainPalin Campaign:
“It’s a shame that when our country is in crisis we are talking about bloomers and blouses. The elitist media is choosing not to report the truth. Joe public knows that ALL women LOVE to shop ’til they drop. There is not a pro-American woman in this country who when put in the same circumstance wouldn’t do the exact same thing. The media has sunk to new lows, reporting Sarah Palin’s inability to control herself financially or act in an appropriate manner when spending someone else’s money. This is just a sad attempt to exploit a birth defect that plague all women of this great country and keep them from succeeding. Throughout his life McCain has shown a sincere understanding of women and their limitations – his overwhelming support of Sarah during this episode speaks for McCain’s commitment to all women and the issues that keep them realizing the respect they might deserve.”

tripsydaily October 23, 2008 at 6:22 pm

[re=145465]totoro[/re]: JCPenney, wow, do those still exist!!? I also think there is a distinct possibility she is an Old Navy connoisseur, with a Hollister baby doll-tee fetish.

One Yield Regular October 23, 2008 at 6:24 pm

Hey, we all need clothes. So I’m writing a letter to the RNC, right now, to demand some. My poor sister hasn’t been able to afford new clothes in 3 years. She’s starting to look like something out of “Lil’ Abner.”

[re=145339]WendyK[/re]: That’s fantastic. You know, the *purchaser* of counterfeit designer stuff like that can be held liable; in Europe, buyers have been fined as much as 10,000 Euro just for buying fake designer bags.

Speed Ball October 23, 2008 at 6:30 pm

WE’RE BUYING THEM OVER HERE SO WE DON’T HAVE TO BUY THEM OVER THERE.

azw88 October 23, 2008 at 6:33 pm

That’s not just any old Loius Vitton bag, that is Trigs very own carrying case that the family uses to tote him from photo op to photo op in….

zhubajie October 23, 2008 at 6:37 pm

JSDC007 October 23, 2008 at 6:45 pm

Well, this just may be how the election was won – Palin’s Let-them-eat-cake moment.

The hoi polloi (that’s real America to you Ms. Palin-Antoinette) couldn’t give a damn about healthcare, the war, the ponzi economy, but, hey, show them someone spending all that moolah at Needless Markup, and they’re hungry for blood.

It’s even fitting that the Marie Antoinette quote’s misattributed or even fabricated. Sarah aint too big on facts.

azw88 October 23, 2008 at 6:47 pm

“her policies and racism clearly sucks, but how could you vote against a woman with that much fashion sense?”

Odd Ass City October 23, 2008 at 10:23 pm

This whole thread is class warfare.

Mara47 October 24, 2008 at 2:26 am

[re=145465]totoro[/re]: Oh my God! That could work for Al Franken. Quick, what’s his number???

Mara47 October 24, 2008 at 2:28 am

[re=146264]Mara47[/re]: …except that he’s not stupid, of course. Didn ‘t mean to imply that. I even gave him some of my money when he first started whining about not having any.

NotTheRedBaron October 24, 2008 at 6:33 am

OMG it looks like Piper’s head is starting to spin like the Exorcist chic!!!!!

Borat October 24, 2008 at 6:34 am

[re=145333]Texan Bulldoggette[/re]: Yes, she does look like Britney Spears. And this frightens me as we are about to embark on Palin’s brood’s antics in the press for the rest of our lives. Unless we should end it now.

Borat October 24, 2008 at 6:39 am

So Moosilini is apparently also claiming that many of the clothes haven’t left the (grizzly under-) belly of her aircraft. I’m guessing she’s also saved the receipts and left the tags on (even the stuff she’s wearing). And those stores refund in CASH!

I’m guessing a lot of stuff will finally be leaving the Layaway department at Walmart in Wasilla once that stuff gets returned.

Borat October 24, 2008 at 6:40 am

I’ll bet she bought the purse on a street corner near Ground Zero. You can bet that’s a fake rolex too. Ah, the advantages of small town americans coming to NYC and buying crap.

flyingspaghettimonster October 24, 2008 at 11:47 am

is Piper’s head twisting around Exorcist stylee in that photo?? that’s one creepy little girl.

wallythepug October 24, 2008 at 12:33 pm

That little shit is better dressed than me.

DangerousLiberal October 24, 2008 at 1:34 pm

Bristol’s growing more preggers daily–going thru gay-designed maternity wear (that paints a picture) daily. And just getting Levi to stand still while the wranglers shaved him and put on a tie……

But, really, my wife’s been looking a bit frumpy in our late 1990s Saturn Wagon–she needs a car, man, and it’s gonna take $100 large to get the right one. Of course, in ten years, when we’re done with it, we’ll donate it to charity–the kidney fund folks and the blind people keep asking for donations for used cars, so……

Sid Kitty October 24, 2008 at 4:38 pm

Sorry for repeating myself but I just gotta say it again… How in the name of all creation can the Republican base be blind to the hypocrisy in all of this???!!! They cheer on that “maverick” John McCain for his role in sponsoring the Campaign Reform Act wherin it is clearly illegal to use campaign funds for the candidate’s clothing. Then they defend these two-faced jerks for slithering around the issue by using RNC money to makeover that redneck and the rest of her white trash family. Don’t they know you can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear??? It’s hard to believe the Republican base is so fucking ignorant they’ve gone gaga over that bimbo.

And speaking of hypocrisy, you’d think those idiots at RNC would hire a wardrobe stylist with enough sense to dress her in an American designer instead of $4,000 Valentino suits!!! I guess it wouldn’t be as flashy but at least then maybe we could believe all that Pro-American crap!!! Or better yet play to the feminist angle and dress the bimbo in Donna Karan.

So the spin doctors can only defend the extravace by promising to donate her clothing to charity after the election. Give me a break!!!! And what happens if, God forbid, these buffoons get elected??? What’s she gonna wear to the office every day??? And don’t forget this time she’ll need a new $10,000 gown every time the White House hosts a black tie event. Who’s gonna pay for it??? Will taxpayers foot the bill for yet another closet full of Valentino???

Sid Kitty October 24, 2008 at 5:54 pm

So forgive my ignorance but I haven’t wanted to clutter my head with names and images of Palins family. Is it safe to assume that kid in the photo is one of her offspring? What is she 10 or 12 years old? So why is she carrying a Louis Vuitton??? Sooooo much is wrong with this picture!!!! If it’s authentic that bag is worth what, $1800 or so??? OK so maybe it’s a tacky knock-off but nonetheless, how in Gods name is this flagrant display of oppulence appealing to Joe the Plumber and Suzie the soccer mom who shop exclusively at Walmart and Target???
