I hate to interject fact into the mix but John Mccain DID not vote against funding troops, he skipped the vote and went straight to the president and browbeat and cajoled and nagged him until he vetoed the bill. Clean hands, see!

bluebrazos: Yes, Biden responded to this charge in nis debate with Palin. McCain voted against funding soldiers in Iraq as well (HR 1591), and opposed similar bills. The issue in each senators’ vote was whether or not a funding bill should include a time table for withdrawal.
The argument McCain makes on this issue is so weak, it’s depressing to hear her (him) make it.

monty: I get what you are saying, but McCain has a tendency to skip votes when he knows what the outcome will be. His statement on the vote was pretty clear:
“Such a mandate would have grave consequences for the future of Iraq, the stability of the Middle East and the security of Americans at home and abroad. For these reasons, I do not support this bill”
Also worth noting is this vote which he ditched as well:
# Vote description: S. Con. Res. 20; A concurrent resolution expressing the sense of Congress that no funds should be cut off or reduced for American Troops in the field which would result in undermining their safety or their ability to complete their assigned mission.
Barack Obama voted “Yes” (i.e. no funds should be cut off). 47 Repubs voted yes as well.

What all this really says is that McCain and his campaign staff are incredibly misogynistic. Think about it: first Sarah, now Cindy, they’re having the women do the attacking, knowing that these women can’t be attacked in turn, and they are also having women who are unqualified and not particularly bright engage in policy debates, throwing screams of sexism at anyone who dares question whether they (Sarah in particular) should really be representing the party in that way. Sarah and Cindy are being used, they are tools, they are pretty objects propped up to flash winks and smiles, they are dogs on leashes barking loudly but impervious to harm. And all the while, John can sit back, not taking part, never once mentioning the Ayers or Wright or ACORN connections directly to Obama’s face so that he can try to appear above it all. Women of America, you should be OUTRAGED by this.
