Guess where your editor went, on Tuesday? That’s right, to the magical Ron Paul Concert, in downtown Minneapolis.
It is a very pleasant downtown, what with the skyways and the old steak houses and the outdoor bars on that pedestrian street and the nice people. Even the bums are so friendly and welcoming, here in this place, which we can’t wait to leave in the morning.
Anyway, enough with the stupid Minnesota cliches, which are all true, because it is important to watch this video and realize the “Rally for the Republic” was a heartbreakingly sad and empty event. Photo essay coming soon.
Wait, Ron Paul is still alive? I’d assumed he’d died, considering his followers had begun worshipping him and expecting his return any day now.

It was so nice for Ron Paul to deliver to snark sites such as this the image of a limping, half-deflated blimp, a perfect metaphor for his entire political career. Personally, I’m a little offended. Did he think we needed the help? Were we not able to lambaste him without the visual aids?

Former French political party. It was founded by Jacques Chirac in 1976 as the successor to the various Gaullist coalitions that dominated the political life of the Fifth Republic under Charles de Gaulle and Georges Pompidou. The party had its antecedents in the group Rally of the French People, organized by de Gaulle in 1947. It evolved into the Union for the New Republic (1958–62) and then the Union of Democrats for the New Republic (1968–76) before assuming the name Rally for the Republic. In 2002 the party merged with the Liberal Democratic party and much of the Union for the French Democracy to form the Union for a Popular Movement.

That Ron Paul couldn’t produce popular enthusiasm for his common sense platform just underscores how heinously ignorant the American voter is. If everything goes down the toilet, then I can say with confidence that we deserve every bit of it.
