Well, that was fun while it lastedOh hey looky there: John McCain now holds a 5-point national lead over liberal abortionist Barry Obama. Feel free to discuss in the comments: 1) why national polls don’t matter; 2) what a douche John Zogby is and how he lost all his credibility in calling the ’04 election for Kerry, so Zogby reporting a McCain lead is actually good news; 3) how you will be draping black cloths over your gallery of framed Obama posters and sitting shiva for Hope.

Barack Obama is president of Lozers
Look at this sad chart. Terrible losses among women, college grads, youngsters… McCain now holds a 9-point lead over Obama on the economy… Jesus Christ, is anybody voting for this Democrat loser anymore?

Poll shows McCain in 5-point lead over Obama [Reuters]

When McCain declared war on nuclear-armed Russia last week, I realized he was the kind of leader we need right now.

4tehlulz August 20, 2008 at 9:52 am

-9 among Democrats in a month? lol Zogby.

stolichnayaaa August 20, 2008 at 9:58 am

Can I be serious for a second? Probably not. But still, I really like the idea of Obama down a few points. We need to juice the young folks a bit, and maybe then the media folks will turn on McCain. See, I told you I couldn’t be serious.

irisheyes August 20, 2008 at 9:58 am

Not for nothin’ but I fit three of those demographics and my love for Hopey grows every time I see his transcendent chocolate ass.

Godless Liberal * August 20, 2008 at 9:58 am

Wow, the youngsters really do hate Hope in August.

what’s a “lolzogby”? Is that like “Oh hai, I haz poll 4 u, is inkorect but hoo carez” ?

chitownlib August 20, 2008 at 10:01 am

I have a hard time believing that 57% of us living in the Abortion Belt (cities) are supporting McCain.

Godless Liberal * August 20, 2008 at 10:03 am

I do kind of feel bad for deleting those emails from Zogby. I could have boosted his numbers among Democrats, youths, those living in cities and Southerners.

floraway August 20, 2008 at 10:07 am

This is proof that a college education does not make someone smart. 40%? That can’t be right, right?

Serolf Divad August 20, 2008 at 10:07 am

Now’s the time to see if Democrats have what it takes to win. If Obama doesn’t start running a slew of nasty, down and dirty, and completely unfair campaign ads between now and November, he’s toast and he deserves to lose like all the Democrats that have come before him.

Here’s my take on what an Obama Ad should look like:

Negative Ad 1

Negative Ad 2

Negative Ad 3

superfecta August 20, 2008 at 10:08 am

I tried to take the Zogby poll, but when I clicked on the link in the email, it told me I’d already taken it. It looks like they locked out actual Obama supporters.

Canmon (the Inadequate) August 20, 2008 at 10:08 am

Hopefully, this will lead Obama to pick the one running mate who can solidify his support among Democrats and women.

Not_So_Much August 20, 2008 at 10:09 am

This is a dilemma for the neocons. As any one of them will tell you, Zogby is an A-Rab and his brother runs the Arab American league or something (terrorist).

I can see lot’s of Righties that will want to use the data, but will totally choke on John Zogby’s poll… (I’m looking at you Sen. Craig)

ReverendGreen August 20, 2008 at 10:12 am

Thank God I don’t have cable at the moment and won’t force myself to see the media RUN RUN RUN with this garbage that’s maybe 1/8 as relevant as it will be portrayed.

I guess the Hopester is going to have to think if a) he needs Hillary enough to pick her as his running mate, and, before pickig her, b) if he can trust her to be in on the campaign and not a covert op for walnuts (who is flirting with this 1-term thing to woo Hillary into fucking Obama over.)

Ugh. Have the libtards completely become a bunch of whiny Richard Simmons-like Chicken Littles? For some reason his message is not getting out (read MoDo today). It’s even thrown H.Dean into an M&M eating frenzy. Pleeze. He gets no bounce unless it comes down a bit.

Oh waiter, diaper change all around please. C’mon, buck up hopeys!

I suspect, a typical Zogby MAJOR FAIL. This is a false hope for Walnuts and his “supporters.”

If it were so bad then why hasn’t it shown up in the money flow? Based on real data like total donations and not Zogby’s “numbers” then it’s not looking so hot for Walnuts.

Zogby+Fox News=synergy.

Come on people. Hopey’s gonna win in a landslide.

Moleman August 20, 2008 at 10:24 am

So… I’m supposed to believe that Hopey is actually supported by < 50% of young people, college grads, and the citified? I can’t wait for the new Zogby poll that says he’s running behind among African Americans, latte drinkers, new voters, and his immediate family.

mr.november August 20, 2008 at 10:26 am

Obama is a baller. He is saving it for the last two minutes when every game is decided. He was on the bench when the vast-right-wing-small forward went off in Georgia. Lefty will be back. Silky smooth as evah.

Sussemilch August 20, 2008 at 10:26 am

We’re still missing crucial info. We need to know what kind of pets the candidates favor. If I had to guess, I’d say that Obama is working with an elite team of University of Illinois scientists to clone an extinct Quagga from extracted fossilized DNA, and McCain owns a swarm of photogenic dachshunds all interchangeably named Fred.

Or maybe, just maybe, Democratic voters aren’t all that keen on the “more centrist than thou” bullshit.

Hart88 August 20, 2008 at 10:52 am

Just too add to the fuckery, Ben Smith at Politico is actually quoting a RealClearPolitics poll, which of course shows McCain winning the EC votes – if you throw all the toss-up states to McCain.

Gopherit v2.0 August 20, 2008 at 10:59 am

Just wait til he announces the Hopey/Bayh ticket.

AxmxZ August 20, 2008 at 11:02 am

Looks like Zogby got tired of hearing that his polls invariably overestimate Obama’s support by an order of magnitude and preemptively flipped this one towards McCain.

shortsshortsshorts August 20, 2008 at 11:05 am

Shit. Mother fucker. Fuck August. Amen.

NoWireHangers August 20, 2008 at 11:07 am

[re=63712]ManchuCandidate[/re]: “If it were so bad then why hasn’t it shown up in the money flow?”

While I agree that this poll is shit, I was a sad sack college student knocking on doors and asking for money for John Kerry in ’04. We learned the hard way that money=win is a flawed flawed assumption to make.

Big Liver August 20, 2008 at 11:10 am

I suggest that you folks would enjoy following the election meta-analysis being continuously conducted by the Princeton group at http://election.princeton.edu/

This site makes a good argument for its statistical method of combining data from all the state level polls for predicting electoral college results. Currently, forecasting Obama 290, McCain 248. Very worth watching, and circulating word of.

MargeSimpsonsBlackFriend August 20, 2008 at 11:12 am

[re=63716]The Incomparable Tiny Valdez[/re]: Please let your words ring true. If McCain wins, my fear that D.C. is really just a big bullseye will be multiplied by 100. In April, when we go to war with Russia, I will move to Montana *OR* Wyoming.

Alright! I can’t wait! Four more years (since mcCain will crumble like one of those mummies in the Mummy at the end of his term ) of failure!
The bright side is that our ties with Czechoslovakia will become stronger, and our nukular stockpile will be reduced.

[re=63741]tiny mexican[/re]
I’m not sure what they’re gloating about. I remember the GOP was saying that if McCain was nominated, then it would be the end of the republican party since he was just a “librul.” Now that he’s completely transformed himself into McBush, I guess he pandered his way into their rotten little hearts.

Tubs McGee August 20, 2008 at 11:21 am

Ha. Funny you should use liberal abortionist to describe Barry…I was just talking to my sister and she’s got friends around 19 or 20yo who are not voting for him because he “kills babies.” Isn’t McCain’s plan to kill everyone with nukes, including babies?

Manchowder August 20, 2008 at 11:22 am

So Obama spends 2 months selling out his base of yuppie suburban college kids …. and his base supports him less! That is Mark Penn level political consulting right there!

RaptorAvatar August 20, 2008 at 11:44 am

He’s been on the bench for a few weeks (Remember all those polls where people said they were sick of hearing about him?)but watch him come back in the home stretch.

thefrontpage August 20, 2008 at 11:46 am

It’s sad, but McCain will probably be the next president, taking office at age 72.

Run for your lives.

It should be Al Gore who we’re electing as president.

S.Luggo August 20, 2008 at 11:51 am

[re=63734]Guppy06[/re][re=63803]Manchowder[/re]: :
— That was one of several recent policy shifts for Obama, as he positions himself for the general election battle. But Zogby said the changes could be taking a toll on Obama’s support, particularly among Democrats and self-described liberals.

“That hairline difference between nuance and what appears to be flip-flopping is hurting him with liberal voters,” Zogby said. —

You think?

Relax, the poll can’t be true. There’s no way that Mr. “I’m not an expert in economics” can be ahead in the polls on economic issues. The only way people could be thinking that is if they were idiots and as we all know, the American people are not idiots.

Uhhhhhhh….

OneSarcasticMexican August 20, 2008 at 11:58 am

But you guys, Reuters/Zogby is always right. If it weren’t for them, we wouldn’t have this lasting peace and prosperity under President Kerry. Oh, Wait…..

jerryw August 20, 2008 at 12:43 pm

Zogby’s big mistake with the 2004 elections was that he polled the voters,
instead of polling the people that counted the votes.

I think Stalin had it right when he said something like this:
Those who cast the vote decide nothing. Those who count the vote decide everything.

You sons of bitches forgot it’s opposite day, Obama is five points up and Zogby is a trusted name.

Obama is really going to regret having this election decided by national polls in August. He’s only got days left to win the Presidency.

Maybe there’s a small group of Southern, Catholic female Democrats under the age of 35 with college educations who live in cities (and love pets?) who are losing faith in Hopey.
