TH-THAT'S N-NOT HOT

That's HawtBLACK AND WHITE: The American People see Barack Obama’s ads as positive, hopeful messages of hopefulness, while John McCain’s commercials are universally seen as cheap, bitter little sacks of negative bile. That’s why 48% of The People are tired of hearing about Obama. [UPI]

Who is John McCain? Do we know this man? It’s time to ask.

  2. brown_recluse says at 1:22 pm, August 7th, 2008

What could we have expected from a nation of bitters?

cheap, bitter little sacks of negative bile. Harumph! The gall of some people!

  5. Perhaps a good chunk of those 48% are tired of hearing about Barack Obama from John McCain.

tsunami: What, you mean the bit where he wasn’t tortured and fellated his captors on demand? That has “swift boat” written all over it. Where do I send my check and how soon can it hit the air?

  7. NoWireHangers says at 1:27 pm, August 7th, 2008

This campaign is like being stuck in a 1992 Dodge Caravan on the 405 Freeway in 95 degree weather behind a school bus that’s belching black exhaust fumes and your windows are rolled down cuz the AC is broken but there is no wind, only stagnant, dry, polluted air.

Hopefully the Denver Convention will give the polls a hot Hope injection.

    Lets count:
    12% racists
    28% Bush base

Just who are the remaining 8%?
    Bitters? Rambo film fest nerds?

  9. AngryBlakGuy says at 1:28 pm, August 7th, 2008

…they said they were tired of hearing about him but they didn’t say anything about seeing him!

  10. masterdebater says at 1:28 pm, August 7th, 2008

Things have gone too far when we have to see repeated references to Paris…and she isn’t nude or in jail or something. I think we can all agree on that. Oh, and also that McCain is a dick.

  11. Doglessliberal says at 1:31 pm, August 7th, 2008

Hey, I heart Hopey, and *I* am tired of the saturation coverage, especially since most of it is about stupid meaningless stuff (lazy MSM riffing off McCain’s messages, reporting on the coverage itself instead of anything substantive). Maybe it will die down a bit when he and the Hopettes decamp for their Hawaiian Shark God vacation soon (though apparently the press is following them on the family vacation, too. I know that has nothing to do with the fact that the press might want a trip to HI)

  12. mookworthjwilson says at 1:33 pm, August 7th, 2008

The problem is that a good amount of people who actually answer polls are deranged old shutins, like Harriet Christian or John McCain. Thus, they don’t remember what their answers were from one question to the next.

AngryBlakGuy: so we need some more shirtless beach shots? The people want beefcake?

    ForTheTurnstiles:

    good attitude.

but seriously…it’s curious to me that parts of his navy record are sealed.
his role in the deadly shipboard fire seems to have been skipped over.
his famous arm problems are self-inflicted, not from torture.

after all…this guy is a legacy student who got piss-poor grades, failed at his
earlier endevours but got a free pass because of his family connections. he’s bush
all over again…but worse if you look at his positions.

    scary, scary stuff.

Don’t the 48% know about the rainbow-colored unicorn?

  16. upperleft says at 1:40 pm, August 7th, 2008

I’m sure the whole team will be in Hawaii to cover the Obama family night and day and maybe even do a special about people being tired of the coverage. Maybe Obama will call on Lono the Shark God to bid a few Aloha’s.
That reminds me of the Polish joke; three pollsters walk into a bar……..

  17. AngryBlakGuy says at 1:40 pm, August 7th, 2008

…my interpretation of this data is bad news for McCain. Because people who are tired of hearing about Barack Obama are more likely to tune out or change the channel when a negative/positive AD is run. Conversely people are saying they want to hear MORE about McCain. McCain has gained from the lack of scrutiny his campaign has received. So if Barack Obama does a major AD buy featuring McCains bad policies its more likely to be absorbed. Maybe this is a little Machiavellian but Obama fatigue may in the end actually play to Obama’s advantage and McCains disadvantage.

  18. SayItWithWookies says at 1:42 pm, August 7th, 2008

It’s because of Obama’s socialist energy policy. One day he’s imprisoning white people who don’t have their tires properly inflated, and the next he’s forcing you to wear gray pajamas and get an abortion. It’s the slippery slope, people!

  19. shortsshortsshorts says at 1:44 pm, August 7th, 2008

AngryBlakGuy: Strangely enough, Barry is attacking him on many fronts, but the media doesn’t cover it. WHY IS THE MEDIA SO IN LOVE WITH JOHN MCWALNUTS?

  20. KevoTron says at 1:55 pm, August 7th, 2008

Because he’s lovable like your old Grandpa that drools and farts while he’s napping in front Fox News. Also his cheeks are just so cute you wanna pinch ‘em and talk to him like an adult-Alzheimer’s-baby-man-infant.

  21. WIDTAP says at 2:20 pm, August 7th, 2008

Hey, maybe Americans will get tiered of both Obama overexposure and McCain overexposure and the media will have to start discussing something new, like solutions on energy or the housing crisis.

I just can’t image that in the face of a public tired of hearing of the candidates, that the media would turn to something trivial, like Paris Hilton for example.

  22. NebraskashireGentry says at 2:27 pm, August 7th, 2008

obviously, the nation realizes that there are serious issues at stake in this election, and serious differences between the candidates. And we will argue about them, as we should. But it should remain an argument among friends; each of us struggling to hear our conscience, and heed its demands; each of us, despite our differences, united in our great cause, and respectful of the goodness in each other.

    (only 10 more McCain Pesos)

  23. sati demise: Not to complicate things, but aren’t racists also part of Bush’s base?

    That’s “Pollish” joke…..

  25. What a coincidence, i’m 100% sick of John McCain and the media’s bullshit regarding Obama too.

  26. I blame the media.

  27. Aurelio says at 4:34 pm, August 7th, 2008

I am also tired of hearing about Obama. I am even more tired of hearing about McCain. The Brits do their elections, from start to finish, in 5 WEEKS! Our politicians have to put Numzident on their power-obsessed peckers for two years, while they bore America silly with their tedious foreplay. Wouldn’t we all be better off with a more timely ejaculation?

  28. Makeithurt says at 4:36 pm, August 7th, 2008

No I’m tired of listening to Obama because he’s a pontificating asshole.

  29. Aurelio says at 4:38 pm, August 7th, 2008

AngryBlakGuy: Yes. Barack needs to go negative on Walnuts. That’s why he should hurry up and pic a VeePee, who can do this job for him, while Barack remains above it all. I’m just a moran, but that’s my advice.

  30. madirishman says at 4:51 pm, August 7th, 2008

I, too, am tremendously disappointed at the level of political discourse so far in this election cycle.

It’s time to FLING some serious MUD!!! Walnuts is a closet Commie! Hopey is a secret heroin addict! Come on, people! This is a political GOSSIP column, for God’s sake!

How are we supposed to elect the next President if we don’t smear everyone within flinging distance?

  31. Anon124816 says at 10:03 am, August 11th, 2008

Frankly, I’m not very excited about either one of these guys. It’s a choice between methuselah and Malcolm X. While I favor Obama, being a Democrat, I have some concerns about the fact that he has no experience whatsover. The last guy who had no experience whatsover was George Bush, and look what happened there.

Also, I am genuinely disappointed with Obama’s unwillingness to debate his opponents. I was very disappointed in his refusal to debate Hillary in the final months of the primary, and I am disappointed in his refusal to debate McCain in the Town Hall Meetings. Isn’t this what Obama is supposed to be about? Discussing the issues?

Seems like Obama just wants to present issues in environments where there is no criticism or opposition: Either giving mass-rally speeches, writing books, or saturating markets with commercials explaining how wonderful he is.

It has been MONTHS since there has been any debate. This is absurd. Debates should take place WEEKLY. Preferrably, un-moderated. Last man standing. Let’s see what these turkeys are made of.
