THE BEST TEDDY ROOSEVELT CARTOON YOU’LL READ TODAY: Katie Beaton might be our favorite web cartoonist since Chris Onstad. This one’s called “Theodore Roosevelt on the Presidency.” You might also enjoy this one, about the assassination of President James Garfield. The history sections are all awesome, the end. Why would you link us to some poorly-drawn shit from someone’s LiveJournal? Oh yeah, because it’s actually fucking hilarious! Esp Teddy Roosevelt. Love it!
Wow, so Russia and Japan were engaging in terrorist fist jabs in the early 20th century? This explains A LOT.
My favorite is still the Assisi one. It’s the assisiest.
No way! Thucydides and Tintin FTW!
Im voting for the Garfield one. That was funny.
Bully for him. And Kate Beaton.
The Battle of the Georges! OMG, the BEST.
That website totally rocks, I completely love it. Thanks for linking to it, I would have never known about it otherwise.
(Off to waste the rest of my day reading her hilarious comics.)
psst. She’s Canadian!!! don’t say I didn’t warn you. they’re very sneaky. first it’s good beer and then - BAM - socialized medicine. just like that.
This one ROCKS

If socialized medicine and good beer are wrong, I don’t want to be right.
You had me at Charles Guiteau and Herodotus…
Sonofabitch. That gal is a genius–that is hands-down the funniest Garfield comic I have ever read.
Yeah. What they said.
There goes my work week.
Damn, smart, talented Nova Scotians, making smoked fish and funny comics.
And I also sometimes wonder if James Monroe really had it goin’ on.
It’s teh funneh.
Best waste of a half-hour in the office in at least…um…
2 hours.
Did any other lit dorks catch the one with the Shelleys and Byron? I died! It’s on this page:

I liked the Michael Ondaatje bookreading one which makes me probably just like the people she was making fun of. But it’s funny cuz it’s true. On this page: http://www.katebeaton.com/Site/Maybe_Its_A_Journal.html.
And I have it on good authority that my wife is also related to nearly everyone on Cape Breton. So there’s that.
I also appreciated her attention to the strange Canadian obsession with “For Better or For Worse” and Stan Rogers.
Iggy Plop: I loved that one too, mostly because I get up and leave book readings when the audience question period starts, because close to 100% (excluding me) of the audience at a book reading is composed of total freaks.
Mostly I love these comics because, in addition to be cleverly hilarious, they make me feel as though my years of expensive and useless education were somewhat useful.
Me: “Hey, Kierkegaard! I get that! High five!” [High fives self.]
ronaldpagan: That one was good, but I’m torn between the Pope and the Tesla cartoons on the same page.
ronaldpagan: Oh God, just found the Lamarck/Cuvier one. X-D
May I be the first to say I would totally throw my bloomers into Tesla’s machines? There’s something sexy about a man with a death ray.
As long as she doesn’t start making Mackenzie King comics. Even Canadians don’t get that shit.
Magsbe: Ladies, would you please
“Canadian Humor.”
Another self-cancelling concept.
As in “President Bush.”
Kate Beaton does indeed have the best webcomix EVAR.
She rocks.
I love the Pope John “That’s How I Roll” Paul II comics. And the Squid Hunt, and the Walrus Milk, and the 2 Garfields…
