  • The unique nature of this presidential race has invited the media to make all sorts of unfortunate gaffes, which we can expect to continue through November and indeed eight years of the Obama presidency. [Wall Street Journal]
  • As to sexism in news coverage of Hillary Clinton, nobody sees any evidence of it (except Katie Couric, Howard Dean, and Clinton supporters). [New York Times]
  • Groceries and gas aren’t the only necessities getting more expensive these days — now the cost of illegal livers is skyrocketing! (If you are a Japanese gangster.) [Los Angeles Times]
  • John McCain shines in town hall-style formats, where he doesn’t look like he’s being eaten alive by his podium. [Washington Post]

Hey…hey…that was a long time ago–can’t you just let it die? I mean, how many times do you have to bring this up? It was a hard time for me.

Jebus I don’t know why I put up with the abuse.

The Supreme Court ruled that the Constitution does apply at Guantanamo Bay after all.

Yeah, good thing the Attorney General doesn’t give a flying f*** what those weird dudes in black dresses say:

“The Supreme Court’s decision on Guantanamo Bay will unleash a torrent of court filings from detainees seeking their freedom but won’t affect the military trials planned for some terrorism suspects, Attorney General Michael Mukasey said Friday.”

what to do with the detainees?

Position them as America’s new “goodwill ambassadors” to the Muslim world!

  4. Johnny Zhivago says at 9:24 am, June 13th, 2008

what to do with the detainees?

I’d say hold them until they pay us back for their food, lodging, travel and legal expenses.

  5. I wish I had something clever to post…but I got nuthin’! Time for a Erik Naggum quote!

“Sufficiently advanced political correctness is indistinguishable from sarcasm.”

  6. Johnny Zhivago: The current plan appears to be trial by perjury.

At this point, I would not be shocked if all the prisoners suddenly died of food poisoning. What is going to happen? Nobody faces consequences for anything in this Admin, and no one could prove the detainees did NOT eat tomatoes, so there you go. Easy answer.

  8. Naked Bunny with a Whip says at 9:47 am, June 13th, 2008

So what to do with the detainees

I imagine they’re pretty softened up for buttsecks by now.

What to do with the detainees? Hire them on as bellhops and cabana boys for the new Guantanamo Bay deluxe Cuban beach resort. Start making that damn war pay some effing bills.

The WSJ editorial board soilecd its Depends over the ruling. They also manage to get the word “vouchsafe” in for about the 20th time in a month. Must be one of Rupert’s favorite terms

  16. queeraselvis v 2.0 says at 10:18 am, June 13th, 2008

McCain said it would be “fine with me” if U.S. troops stay in Iraq for 50 years or more, providing a sound bite that his political rivals have put to great use. “Make it a hundred,” he said, cutting off the questioner as a bit of annoyance showed through.

Translation: McCain, after having BS called on his statement, promptly pooped his pants, called the reporter a trollopy cunt, threatened to beat the shit out of the other reporters, and subsequently stormed offstage. The end.

  17. queeraselvis v 2.0 says at 10:25 am, June 13th, 2008

Also, hilarious that the sexism story is prominently illustrated by a pic of Hilz’s withering, pantsuited boobs.

It’s nice to see that liver transplants are going to the highest bidders because it will allow US America to finally compete with India and China on some level of the world economy.

This free trade of vital organs will allow for higher revenues (thru volume of course) without regulation, increased competition and better quality especially when desperate, I mean, hungry Wall St types provide more market capital to improve organ stealing productivity. The organ black market will prove to be Wall St’s greatest success after the tech market, the internet market, the housing market and the soon-to-be busted commodities bubble, I mean, market.

More evidence (as if any more was needed) that language has no connection with the world it tries to describe at the WSJ.

“The Supreme Court ruled that the Constitution does apply at Guantanamo Bay after all.”

Would that the rest of us were so lucky. Oh well, you can’t have it all. Great economy, the best health care in the world (you know, if you can afford it), women who shave their legs, Access Hollywood . What does giving up a little freedom mean, in comparison to all we have here in the greatest darn country in the world?

  22. MoodProcessor says at 10:37 am, June 13th, 2008

Not to be jaded, or sexist, but a lot of this stink sounds like this to me:

“Obama ran a better campaign, and we’re pissed because the media agreed that Obama ran a better campaign, and then went and shared the results.”

Is it sexist to describe a Female Presidential Candidate by using another Prominent Female as a frame of reference?

  23. donner_froh says at 10:40 am, June 13th, 2008

Inagawa’s gang, the Inagawa-kai, is involved in “drug and arms trafficking, extortion, investment frauds and money laundering,” according to the International Crime Threat Assessment

Sounds like any Republican Administration since Ray-gun. Bush-kai? Reagan-kai? Will Scooter have to chop off his little finger to get a job at the Heritage Foundation?

  24. bostonfern says at 10:46 am, June 13th, 2008

“This campaign has shown that people are excited to use black language for the first time in presidential politics,” says Sarah E. Lewis, a faculty member at Yale University School of Art, and doctoral candidate focusing on representations of African-American culture. “But as they do it, often they’re putting their feet in their mouths because they don’t fully understand the culture.”

In other words, white people sound stupid when they try to talk black, especially amongst one another while bashing other whites. I’m also sick of hearing “folks” in this election.

  25. masterdebater says at 10:46 am, June 13th, 2008

Typical of Hilz Boomer-Bitters: blame someone or something else for failing.

How do you spell responsibility? The MSM is inept and colluding on a lot of things, but in the face of incessant snowjobbing they acquired a tone of exasperation with the campaign and facts (i.e. the numbers) put in front of them. That tone reflected the fact that the logic which has come to pass, that was as clear as as the Titanic, was not heard. Though under water they were still saying they needed to fight on. The same thing is happening with noting the ramblings of McConfused. It’s not about sexism, it’s about consistency.

The Bitters have operated on a double standard: you must respect us even if we speak out of both sides of our mouths, you must not use tough language even when that language is the best available for articulating the behavior presented. If the pantsuit walks like a duck, then what should you call it? A web-footed, swimming bird?

This is a smokescreen employed to keep the deluded Bitters worked up. The case they presented failed. If this is what Billary cooked up on vacation - whining to the DNC - it means more self-reflection is in order. It means they still haven’t learned what happened. To continue gaming the process is pathetic.

I love that the exHilltards are tyring to put the Freudian jackassery of a few pundits on the same level as Hilly Monster insinuating that Barry was unfit for office and her surrogates’ blabbing about how he had only arrived at this point because he was black. Can’t they just cut the middleman and check the “Yes” box beside of the question “Do you want an unplanned grandchild by 2012?”

Fferret: …listening to the Diane Riehm Show…

But it was so entertaining when Diane’s guest proved, without a doubt, that the Bush’s tax cuts meant that rich people payed more taxes than poor and middle class people.

You know conservatism has completely failed when even Diane Riehm cannot find a spokesman who can make a non-laughable argument.
