Good lord, it warms the cockles of my dead liberal heart to remember just how bad a politician John McCain can be, thanks to his frequent bursts of ego over spin. All of which makes him a better person, of course, but that’s neither here nor there.
Why should he leave? He’s the only human alive that’s seen the Garden of Eden (before it got blown up with cluster bombs and irradiated with Depleted Uranium.)
We may be wrong on this, but Japan apparently attacked the United States a while back, and the bases there were established as part of solid agreements in the wake of World War II, and Germany attacked a large part of the world and killed 6 million innocent people and the bases there were estabished in the wake of World War II, also. How on earth is a possibly illegal war trumped up on false and dishonest and possibly criminal claims based on faulty, doctored and wrong propaganda in any way similar to the circumstances of World War II and its aftermath? Such statements are really scary coming from someone who is running to be the president of the United States–very, very scary.
More horrifying than “bitter” “waffles” and “snipers”? Those are the issues the American people care about.
It may be a coded signal to the Germans, Japanese and Koreans to start little insurgencies against their American occupiers…I mean, isn’t 55-60 years enough to stabilize their shaky democracies?

AngryBlakGuy: When a GI goes to Iraq, he gets maybe $50K/year in salary and goodies, and it costs the gummint maybe $125K/year out-of-pocket (don’t even think about pensions, veterans’ benefits, etc.) The Army trains this guy to be soldier, he serves maybe two enlistments, gets out, goes to work for Blackwater, and they pay the same guy $200K/year, plus their overhead which is maybe 120%, so the total delivered cost of a mercenary/contractor is $440K/year. So yeah, Blackwater does some killing, but it’s all about money.
Johnny boy declared the surge working last year, so I guess the 52 U.S. deaths in April was just a temporary blip. But thank God we’re never leaving — we need to have bases close to our next target.

An junior enlisted soldier with hazardous duty pay, family pay and the like probably makes about $50k, but officers and higher ranking NCOs can make over $100k while in a combat zone.
The thing about Blackwater is they save their employee spots for only the best trained soldiers who come out of SOCOM and the like. Many, if not most, of the fodder they foist on the government are 1099 contract employees who may make up to about $150k IF they do a full one-year tour and their are NO benefits involved. This is the dirty little secret that your mall security guard become mercenary finds out about 3 months in.
As a 1099 contractor you are basically a sub-contractor to Blackwater and so when you get shot up or killed, they have NO obligation to support you. It is completely up to the 1099 contractor to secure insurance and the like via their pay. So, Blackwater does even better as they probably do slap a 100% markup on their 1099 person and profit comes from deducting the cost of training and transportation.
Here is the real kicker…even better for Blackwater is the fact that 1099 contractors are INDEPENDENT contractors, which means if they…say…shoot a bunch of innocent civilians then Blackwater is not really to blame as they are a sub and not the prime.
AfghanVet: …I believe the 1099 contractor loop hole was plugged earlier this year(don’t quote me). Because Blackwater and other contractors were using it to avoid paying federal taxes on their employees.
German IED’s are well engineered.
Japanese IED’s are smaller, but more efficient.
