I realize NYT writers are intending for their pieces to be read the next day, presumably by whatever strange tribe of octogenarian cave-dwellers still physically buy newspapers, but does it fuck anyone else up when they have a byline for the next day, and talk in weird future-tense while speculating about things that are happening as you’re reading the article, intending for it to come off correctly the next day? That third paragraph hurt my brain and made it hard for me to remember what day it is/was/will one day be. Or maybe that was the Scotch.
