Senator James Inhofe (R-Okla.) gave voice to the prison abuse scandal’s silent majority yesterday, saying “I’m probably not the only one up at this table that is more outraged by the outrage than we are by the treatment.” Infohe was particularly outraged by an fundraising email from the Kerry campaign that mentions “the slow and inept response by President Bush” to the charges. We’re shocked. As Inhofe put it, ” I don’t recall this ever having happened before in history.” And it’s true. Sure, we may have humiliated and terrorized Iraqi detainees, but let’s remember the important thing: We never asked them for money.
