Chris Matthews' beloved Hardball show had been visiting yet another demographic that has no interest in political shows on cable television: College kids! But it was a lot of fun for everyone, especially when Matthews' wacky light-hearted question ended up being a total setup for Obama to call him a jackass. [Campaign Circus]
let's play hardball

and for the rim-shot...
CM is a jackass! pardon my french. Today on the show:
SHUSTER: Well, here's the other thing that we saw on the tape, Chris, is that, when Obama went in, he was offered coffee, and he said, "I'll have orange juice."
MATTHEWS: No.
SHUSTER: He did.
And it's just one of those sort of weird things. You know, when the owner of the diner says, "Here, have some coffee," you say, "Yes, thank you," and, "Oh, can I also please have some orange juice, in addition to this?" You don't just say, "No, I'll take orange juice," and then turn away and start shaking hands. That's what happens [unintelligible] --
MATTHEWS: You don't ask for a substitute on the menu.
SHUSTER: Exactly.
MATTHEWS: David, what a regular guy. You could do this.

I work hard for my money, so you bet-ter. treat me right. Right. Right.
My favorite part is when Mark Penn puts down his tea cup.
I shot that eagle down.
My comment about how the topic video is like a hundred years old, didn't get posted somehow. Oh well.
@RssDude: Apparently some Clintonite called Obama "humorless," and his PR guys pulled this video out of the vault.
@JacobFreeze: I can only imagine the cavernous hell that the Wonkette employees are subjected too. I bow my head in reverence of their hardship.
More and more, Tweety goes the way of the Fred Willard douchebag journo archetype:

So Mathews wet dream fantasy just brushed him off as a goofball and humiliated him on TV? Too bad it happened on MSNBC. No one will have seen it. Most people watch a test pattern rather than his show.
Telling it like it is, or was, or whatever.
Since the dawn of the informercial age, another gift from the great satan Reagan, there are no more test patterns. Just fyi.
Humiliating Chris Matthews is as easy as swatting a gnat.
@bigtrain45: Then whaddaya call SNL for the last 25 years?
I've noticed that Obama never makes a self depricating joke. His 'humour' is always at someone else's expense. He is a little like Bush that way, using humour to put people in their places. I couldn't imagine Obama making self depricating jokes like Hillary did about the sniper fire or McCain did on Conan.
@Canmon: "I couldn't imagine Obama making self depricating jokes like Hillary did about the sniper fire or McCain did on Conan."
That's because first you'd have to imagine him being low enough to distort a noneventful visit to another country into a life-threatening suicide mission, and then be stupid enough to repeat several times in public, despite news footage and other witnesses' testimony to the contrary.
By the way, why do you add "u" to "humor"? Do you hate America that much?
@RssDude: Is 10 days now equivalent to "a hundred years" in a campaign? This footage is from 4/2/08.
CM: "Have you ever had an interview so fawning and pretentious that you just wanted to smack the so-called journalist conducting it?"
OBAMA: "Nnnnnnngggghh."

Why does Yoo take the u out of you? It's these fern types that'd like to take the u out of usa. Well these colours don't ron!
@herPez Hilton: Why does Yoo leave the u out of you? These fern types'd take the u right out of usa. Well, these colours don't ron!
uh, run. Sorry. Sorry.
Tweety is a joke at all 29 people who watch him's expense.
Oh come on... sometimes we're capable of human emotions... empathy... you know... mockery.
@Canmon:
I've noticed that Obama never makes a self depricating joke.
You mean you've never noticed him making a self deprecating joke.
