‘Therapy Dogs’ To Stay in Iraq For One Hundred Years

by Jim Newell

The era of Donald Rumsfeld is over. American troops in Iraq have the equipment, support and troop numbers they need to make the SURGE win even more. But our correspondent in Sadr City says that it’s the pwecious wittle “therapy dogs” that are winning the public relations war. Even Iraq mayor Osama bin Laden saw Shocky the Therapy Dog recently and immediately blew himself up over his schoolboy’s glee.

Therapy dogs? When did that happen? What breed makes a good therapy dog?

Hello,
Therapy dogs have a wonderful influence where ever needed. They are noise and stress resistant, so good conditions to be used in Iraq. Also it is easy to sympathize with those dogs no matter from whom they come from.

There is no one best breed. In general, a good therapy dog is responsive to its owner as well as other people, has good manners, is willing to learn new things and does not become overly stressed in new or different situations. However, the dog must be at least one year old, healthy, have evidence of current inoculation, and be able to pass a qualifying therapy dog test.
