I needed one sort of bright spot today, and this article sorta provided it. John McCain, who sold out to the religious right and brought on board the worst of Rove’s dirty tricks men, won’t sell out any of his seven kids. Unlike certain newbie Senators from Virginia who ran around the last election cycle talking about his son in Iraq, McCain shushes people who try to bring up his son during events and the only pic he shows reporters of his daughter Meghan is off his cell phone. When asked, he told reporters, “I wouldn’t want to seem like I’m trying to gain some kind of advantage. I just feel that it’s a private thing.” Goddamn if McCain the sellout doesn’t sorta seem like a stand-up dad, except that someone got the story written. Oh, shit, there’s the cynicism again.
