The new GWU Battleground poll — which actually talks to people rather than sending robot cyborgs to heckle you during dinner time — finds Mike “Gitmo is Lovely” Huckabee ahead of Rudy Giuliani for the first time in a national poll, 24% to 22%. Mittens and McCain are running neck and neck at 16% to 15%, respectively, and Dipshit McGoo Thompson has a not-not-insignificant 9%. But seriously, Mike Huckabee is an asshole. And did I mention how much of an asshole Mike Huckabee is? [via TPM Election Central]

We all know how much a douche-nozzle he is, but is this really that shocking? Given the large number of batshit Repub. Christian wackos, it almost seems natural that the Fuckster would get a lead. Yes?
Merry Christmas Hillary!
Crazy Pat (Buchanan) laid odds on Fuckabee today.
8 years of Dipya The Ass Clown, and now this.
I'm thinking Paris or Beirut, maybe Glasgow.
This was inevitable. Of all of the asshole republican candidates, only Fuckabee is both jaw-droppingly stupid enough and batshit crazy enough to win the hearts of the Bush loyalists.
Plus his family is actual proof that there is a flaw in the theory of evolution.
@congcat: ...gimme a call if you need a roommate!
From CNN's Dec 12 poll:
Clinton: 54 Huckabee: 44
Obama: 55 Huckabee: 40 Undecided: 1
Edwards: 60 Huckabee: 35 Undecided: 1
This, plus Chimpy's prediction that the 'Pubs will hold the White House in '08, means the Dems are a mortal lock. Get those resumes prepped.
Paultards -- you may continue dreaming TFN
@congcat: Glasgow or Paris? With the current exchange rate of the U.S. dollar to the pound and the euro? I'm thinking Rio or Buenos Aires for my exile during the Fuckabee Administration.
@Dr. Spaceman: But that's the pre-Diebold numbers, dear.
The Republicans are seriously going to nominate someone who thinks the Earth is 5,000 years old. If he gets in office we'll be begging for George Bush back.
Ya know, if Grandpa Fred adopted your suggested nickname of Dipshit Magoo Thompson, he'd probably grab more fundy voters than Huck.
@Dr. Spaceman:
Dead Dog: 69% Huckabee: 31 Undecided: 0
@UStreet-Daddy: I'll take the Earth's age to be earlier than 5,000 years if we are to have a Bush back in office.
which church do i report to?
evolution? creation? who the hell cares. just send me my tax cut check.
i just know that his sons can't wait to play touch football in the halls of the white house.
intrade still has the huckster at about 15% for the repub nomination.
@congcat: Berlin or Amsterdam for me. Or Prague if I can get a good enough handle on the language to work as a tour guide or a "Prague Post" English-language feature writer.
You're all ignoring the real news, which is that Ron Paul is now at 6%,* double the 3% he was at a month ago. So if this trend continues, he'll be at, let's see, 6144% come November!
--
* That's 6% if you add together all the figures for "definitely will vote for Paul," "lean toward Paul" and "You mean Paul Newman, right?"
@EWALDA: Amsterdam! Yes, wonderful. We should all meet there. A safe distance to watch this doomed experiment turn fireball.
@njdon: Iowa Electronic Markets has Rooody dropping like a stone and Mittens picking up a bit up to about a tie (this is for the R Nomination, not the Iowa Caucus); same market, Hillary still the odds-on fave. Interesting, if you believe in the "wisdom" of "crowds." If Huck wins, I want the wisdom of my own goddam cave.
@mahousu: You forgot the 0.2% who saw the blimp and now think there's a Rori Paul running for president.
OMFJX! Looks like Nov. 2008 gonna be Huckabee/"Whackamex" Norris vs. Obama/Ninja Turtles.
With David "Whackadog" Huckabee around, I already miss Jenna Bush.
Muckabee's gains in Iowa are due to those Republican voters who believe that he is not as grossly fat and ugly as before. He is getting a huge MacDonald's salad sympathy following in Des Moines. Now if he can only keep his potato sack wife and his porcine adult kids out of the photo-ops. Trouble in River City.
heh heh, there is confusion in the Republican ranks. Michelle Malkin called Huckabee Judas, and the American Conservative has a picture of Rudy, dressed like a Fascist, on its front cover.
@ewalda dude, if your in Prague, let me know. We'll get together.
Eh, I'm not sure Our Ass Huckabee has the staying power after Ioway. In other words, I don't believe the poll. Sorry.
Actually, I'm not sure who has the staying power. It might be Walnuts campagning on two nickels and some stamps as a war chest.
I've feared President Huckabee for some time now. Thank about it, he's just what the mouthbreathers of Amurrica will vote for: he's a creationist fundie for the religious freaks, who might stay home if any other repub were nominated, AND he has that personable, good ol' boy, I'd-like-to-have-a beer-with-him vibe that got W elected, but with more of a sense of humor and ability to speak in public. We're fucked, people - esp. if the dems nominate Hillary. Plan your escape now.
@Cynica: You know, I dunno about that one. I feel like if he was the nominee, it'd be MUCH easier to compare him unfavorably to W, as opposed to someone like a Mittens who is just too different to draw the comparisons (superficially speaking).
@Cynica: I'm with you on this one. I am stockpiling Cheetos and Top Ramen in Canada even now. Still, you would think even the snake-handlers would realize by now that their kind make appalling leaders.
@Miss Expatria: You're thinking too rationally. Fuckabee, if he has faults to these people, is too left-leaning.
@gurukalehuru: Holy fuck, you're right!
Poor Mittens- He's toast. The same Republican nutbags who love Bush will heart the Huckabeez, 'cause he has all the same whacko beliefs as Reichsführer Romney, but he's not a Moron, I mean Mormon... Well, he actually is a moron, but... Oh nuts, you know what I'm getting at.
this will seal the deal on the decline of the dollar

I don't believe any of it for one moment. Democracy is just a theory.
Come Inauguration Day 2009 it will be stray puppy hangin' time in Dupont Circle.

I still can't believe@sluggo: Huck's kid hung that dog. If you told me he ate it, now that I'd believe!
@EWALDA: I'm voting for Tbilisi. There's no way in hell Americans can put that on a map.
