Fake Governor Under Real Investigation
Jim Gibbons still holds power in Nevada despite bloggers' incontrovertible evidence that he's not really governor . Nevertheless, it seems that he's more likely to be hounded from the office he holds illegitimately due to the usual boring ethics charges from his Congressional days involving gobs of ill-gotten cash from defense contractors.
TheWall Street Journalrevealed today that the FBI is investigating Gibbons for his filthy, corrupt dealings with eTreppid, a software company whose name issoooo1998. The allegations involve no-bid contracts with various branches of the military, but we were especially charmed by this tidbit:
In another [e-mail], from March 2005, [eTreppid owner Warren] Trepp's wife reminded him: "Please don't forget to bring the money you promised Jim and Dawn" Gibbons. Mr. Trepp's response came minutes later: "Don't you ever send this kind of message to me! Erase this message from your computer right now!"
Which she apparently didn't. Ha ha! The ladies! They just don't know how to use the e-mail, am I right, fellas?
